Hey guys, FreezinRafiki came up with a potential MAN LAW over on my Trip Report, and I figured I'd better bring it over here. He said:

What do you think?

Also, I think we nominated one before that said bacon and cheese make everything taste better. Exceptions to this rule can be improved with chocolate.

Second on both... so does that mean Fourth?

Christopher I actually like that white flocked tree in the picture!:thumbsup2 If I knew where to start looking I would show you the kind of trees we had when we were kids. It made Charlie Browns tree look like it belonged in the White House LOL.:rotfl2: My Dad would go out and look for trees in the woods and come home with what he thought was the best of the crop...and we did too...heck we were kids LOL Anything with lights in it was going to be great to us!

Well I will admit it was much better than the pink aluminum one that my great aunt had, or the silver & white aluminum one that my other grandmother had left over from the '60's :lmao:

Here's another one - this one was from '73. Check out the floor model LP stereo hi-fi system under the window (and those beads my mother had "covering" the window)... ahh the '70's. I remember they had a tv set almost as big as that hi-fi too.

I have a few of those ornaments and use them still - the more distinctive ones, not the plain balls... many of them were my great-grandmother's before and passed down to my mother, and then I got some when we got married. Since then our tree has become more of a "travelogue"... we collect an ornament from every place that we go (i.e. Niagara Falls, Yosemite, WDW, each resort we've stayed at at WDW, DL, Mackinac Island, etc). One of my favorites is a blown-glass kind that is a suitcase, with "stickers" all over it representing the MK, AK, Studios & Epcot. And I have one that I received as a CM when I was working at DL at the Disneyland Family Cast party. Others from all over the country are pretty cool too - they definitely flood the memories back every time we unpack them.

And each year since each child was born, we've given them an ornament for Christmas... building their own collections to take with them, so that they don't go raiding ours when they venture out on their own like I did! :rotfl2:

Here's one of our tree from last December...

Ron I'm sorry, I have absolutely no idea. Those were a couple of my parents' trees in the early to mid '70's. I remember standing there at the tree lot off to the side watching the men who worked there flock the trees with some sort of a spray gun hose attached to a compressor. Whatever it was, it went on wet, and then dried into a substance that felt kind of like popcorn that has been left out on the counter for a few days and gets kind of soft and squishy. And over the course of the two and a half weeks the trees stood in our living room, they kind of reeked by the end and they really needed to go out to the curb for the trashman.

Great pictures Christopher!!!!!!

That really brings back memories....... :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

OK it doesn't... I wasn't even born yet!

Tim, Do you know if Chuck Norris won the election:confused3

Good question... let me look....

EDIT:::
I don't know why I wasted my time. Of course he won! I had to look it up because this was on the other side of the state from me.

It's official - on Tuesday Chuck Norris was elected to serve as a probate judge in District 29 of Connecticut. He beat Democratic candidate Kathryn D. Guinan to take over the seat held by Norwich Probate Judge Linda Salafia for the past 36 years - that time period in and of itself should be the topic of another blog entry.

party: Hope he gives them hell:rolleyes1 Chuck Norris has found out that a roundhouse kick can also bring someone back to life, he gave one to someone once and killed him, gave him another one he came back to life so he would always remember what happened to him:lmao:

RUT ROH! I can see a bunch of CN jokes coming on! :lmao::lmao:

Such as:

Chuck Norris doesn't sweat. He forces the air around him to cry and uses it's tears to cool himself.

Chuck Norris is so persuasive that he convinced a mirror he wasn't there.

Chuck Norris doesn't mow his lawn, he stands on the porch and dares it to grow.

Chuck Norris counted to infinity - twice.

Chuck Norris will never have a heart attack. His heart isn't nearly foolish enough to attack him.

:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

May The Force be with Chuck Norris....For it's own good

Chuck Norris killed Kenny

The "Ring Of Fire" is actually the name of Chuck Norris pinky ring

If Chuck Norris meet Dora The Explorer, he'd introduce her to Boots

DD had her last pre-season basketball clinic tonight. It's been hard for her, because she played two years ago and liked it, but missed last year entirely. When it was time for last basketball season, she was ill and we were having a hard time getting her asthma under control (we had to take her off Singulair, because of behavioral side effects). There's a big difference between 5-6 year old basketball and 7-8 year old basketball. She really missed a lot in term of learning basic basketball rules and positioning. She's been going to these small group clinics offered by the local parks & rec department twice a week for the last month or so.

Tonight, for the first time, the played a full court 4-on-4 controlled scrimmage. I was so proud to see how far she had come. She was dribbling the length of the court without losing control of the ball, making a proper jump stop when catching a pass, playing defense without fouling (she's very good at poking the ball away from the player she's guarding, but still has problems with proper defensive positioning), taking (mostly) good shots. But the two things I was proudest to see were that she had more rebounds than the the other six kids combined (despite being a grade behind the rest of the 8-year-olds in the clinic) and she showed some real toughness. Last time she played, getting hit with the ball or bumping her knee would have sent her crying to the sidelines. Tonight, she took a hard fall while hustling after a loose ball - even hitting her head on the floor - and then got clipped on the ear by another player's elbow while going for a rebound. But she didn't utter a peep about it until the clinic was over and we were on our way to the car. She was in tears on the way home, because her head and her ear and her elbow hurt. But she stuck it out until the end of the clinic. They were just bumps and bruises, but it took real maturity to understand the difference between that and an injury.

She was frustrated that her shots weren't falling, but I told her that the rebounds and defense and hustle were what mattered. The shot will come.

I think we might head up to Lawrence and catch a Lady Jayhawks game this weekend, so she can see women's basketball played at the collegiate level.

Here's one of our tree from last December...

Where's the pickle?
We usually put up our tree around December 6th, our DD's birthday. We take it down around the
30th. Taking it down is always sad.

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA ***Breathe*** BWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HA HA HA HA HA HA ***Breathe*** BWWWWAAAAAAAAAAA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA ***Breathe** **cough** **wheeze**

I always wondered just exactly how one would spell that.

She has her pretty tree in the front window with all the classy decorations, I have my live tree with all the Disney, Superman, Scooby-Doo, M&M Star wars, Hockey, and vehicle decorations on it.

I must confess, we put up two trees as well. But all the Disney, vehicles and other assorted funky ornaments go on the main tree in the living room (along with the more traditional fair). The second one (Tam’s tree) gets set up in the dining room and is covered in “Cooking/Baking” themed ornaments (I did marry a baker and a dang good one at that).

Here's another one - this one was from '73. Check out the floor model LP stereo hi-fi system under the window (and those beads my mother had "covering" the window)... ahh the '70's. I remember they had a tv set almost as big as that hi-fi too.

I love the 70’s trees. They do bring back memories. Are any of you pups old enough to remember the 60’s trees that were covered in “ice cycles”? I’ll have to try to find a picture of one of those monstrosities when I get home this evening.

Awesome! Sounds like she not only gained good athletic experience, but also valuable advances in the realm of life experience as well. That’s a mighty big eight-year-old you got there. I believe the chance to see a collage game is certainly in order (heck, I’d like to go).

You'll need an EX if you want to take advantage of the TTL (through the lens) metering that Canon's do automatically, but you can use other flashes as well.
Thank you! That's a wealth of information and truly appreciated. Unfortunately, I think you've convinced me to spend the extra $$$ on the Canon flash. :sad2::lmao:

That gets my vote as the best and most complete answer to a question EVER. I may print this out for future reference.

Nicely done.
Agreed!:thumbsup2

anyone else put there christmas tree up this afternoon????:woohoo: cant wait for dw to come home from work and see her living room.:lmao::lmao:
Ours usually goes up during the first weekend in December. With us going to WDW this year at that time, I'd like to get it up sooner, but I really don't know when with all the stuff we have to do before we leave.
Growing up, we always cut down our own tree. However, it started to be more and more of a hassle, especially with the kids being so little. One year we found a very nice artificial tree on clearance after Christmas for next to nothing. With the cost of real trees climbing year after year, this thing has paid for itself several times over. I'm thinking next year the kids will be old enough to kick off a fun old fashion family Christmas by heading out into the country in the old front-wheel drive sleigh to embrace the frosty majesty of the winter landscape and select that most important of Christmas symbols.

Geuss I should take down the Fourth of July Decorations!! HEY ITS SNOWING!!!!! I geuss it truely is time to get the tree out, dust it off, hang another evergreen air freshener in it and bring it upstairs. Supposed to get 2-4 inches tonight. I wait till 2 weeks before to get the real tree for the family room. She has her pretty tree in the front window with all the classy decorations, I have my live tree with all the Disney, Superman, Scooby-Doo, M&M Star wars, Hockey, and vehicle decorations on it.
I'm confused - you named all the "classy" decorations. What does the wife put on her tree? :rotfl2:

And you look very contemplative in your cameo role. I'd nominate you for an Oscar! Or at least a Golden Globe!

Nice job, coach. And of course, I don't mean basketball. Hopefully the kids will take these not only as sports lessons, but life lessons as well. :thumbsup2
By the way, Galactic President Superstar McAwesomeville, you up for a game of laser tag later? I'll wear my best suit. :thumbsup2

I loved helping my Mom put on that icicle stuff. My dad hated it becuase it was such a pain to vacuum up.
I worked in a tree lot for a few seasons and was usually the one who flocked the tree. I was a powder with water mixed in when you used a gun to spray it on. Nasty stinky stuff. You can get it done at most good tree lots still. Had a lady get hers done every year, it was never thick enough for her. wanted it to look natural...........umm what? ITS IN YOUR HOUSE DUMMY ITS NOT GOING TO LOOK NATURAL!!! Unless you have a big hole in your roof and you didnt live in the Bay area of California!

Well it looks like she does a few things probably better than me, and I'm a frickin' gym rat from Indiana. :lmao:

Absolutely right. How else do you think Dennis Rodman and Ron Artest made a carreer in the NBA???? :rotfl2:

My grandmother used those things. Ugh. They were terrible, IMO. I'm sure I've got some photos of at least one of her trees. I need to see if I have some of my great-aunt's aluminum trees too....

Ah-hah! Here's one from 1967 at my great-aunt's house, the year my brother was born - that's him in my my mom's arms, just one week old. Note the nice big "shiny aluminum Christmas tree"... something right out of Lucy Van Pelt's dream world there in the Charlie Brown Christmas special...
