I'm currently using a D50. What about the D90 do you like so much better? Would I have any issues using any of my D50 lenses with the D90? (Not really planning on upgrading any time soon, but wondering if I should be thinking about it down the road).

Well to start with - the D90's 3" screen blows the D50's away. It's not only larger, but the resolution on it actually allows you to see your shot like it's meant to be seen. The other thing is the sharpness of the pictures. The D90 has so much sharper shots and I really like the depth of field preview button. The D90 also has a much faster shutter and you can get like 4.5 shots per second in continuous mode (if you have a nice class 10 SD card). I think the D50 gets like 2.5 shots a second. It's pretty crazy...the D90 takes the pictures so fast you could practically made a stop motion video of anything!

The D50 lenses will work fine with a D90. The only thing you would need different is batteries. The D90 batteries are slightly different than the D50 (I learned the hard way...tried to use a D50 battery in my D90 and it got stuck!) Thankfully I was able to get it out with no damage done.

I just sold my D50 and batteries, with my 18-55, and 55-200 lenses for $380 on craigslist. I think I got more than what they are going for on ebay. Made the upgrade a little more attainable.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Scott

p.s. Ownage!!!

We still need one more owner to make 14 teams. Please PM me if you are interested. The draft is on-line on March 23rd at 9:00pm EDT.

Thanks,

Thankfully we don't have any health problems around here, but my bathroom is in shambles. DW bought a new faucet/shower for the bathtub to match the new sink we put in a few weeks ago. I'm usually a fairly handy guy, but this project kicked my Peanut Butter. 4 trips to the hardware store, cutting pipes, soldering, cussing....and it's still not done. :headache:
Thinking I'm going to bite the bullet and call a plumber on this one. :sad2::sad1:

Soldering takes a little prep and patients ! If you don't have that then your beverlyed!

Now that you have walked away. Get some sand paper and some flux.. Re sand those pieces re flux them.. Get em together and hit em with a torch.. You done in no time. Call a plumber and that means no le cellier.. Also if he comes in and sees you have already worked on it.. It's gonna cost ya!

Great job on the podcast guys. Good show.

Thanks!

An old friend of mine from high school is married to Lee Unkrich, who won an Academy Award tonight for Toy Story 3. She just posted this Facebook update. I thought I'd share, because it made me literally laugh out loud:

Guest [she refers to her as "Guest" in these contexts, because all of the awards invitations get sent to her husband, "and Guest"] sat down at her table at the Governor's Ball. They asked for her ticket and she said, "Talk to the guy with that Oscar."

Our grandson was discharged from the hospital earlier this afternoon! :cool1:
That Rotavirus really had him miserable for a few days but he seems to be over it now. Boy, I wish we could take him to Disney but that's not in the cards for awhile. He has a new sister coming along anytime during the next few weeks. Maybe in a year or two.
great to hear mike!:thumbsup2
try map24.com . They have a spot where it asks you how much over the posted limit you do on, interstates, highways, and in town and it calculates the travel times based on your speeds.

Very nice!

Hope everything continues to go well and it eases her pain.

Great news, too bad he had to go through it but I'm glad he's in good spirits now.
great!! ill give it a shot, thanks tutter!

barry, go to your local plumbing supply, not a hardware store and ask the guy for shark bite fittings. no soldering or glueing , they just push together and stay put. not cheep but it will save you from burning the house down and a leak down the road on a bad solder joint.:thumbsup2

I'm not much of a plumber, my last project involved chewing gum, duct tape and several of those twistie tie things that come with trash bags. But the garbage disposal is still hangin on :yay:

HAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!

This made my morning! :lmao::lmao:

Now I have to go listen to the darn thing. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Disdads please look for the podcast on itunes when it gets there to comment on it. The more buzz we can get on it the more views and exposure we will get.

A while back a Dad was doing tshirts and commenting on them here. What was the website you used? Looking at making some Disdad shirt with the new logo.

Wow, this place has been busy this weekend.

Stopher, still keeping your family in my prayers. I'm glad they finally got to do the surgery on your grandmother.

Mike: Glad your grandson is doing better. Can't wait for the update telling us about the new arrival.

Lake City sounds promising. Any hotel recommendations?
Sorry I took so long. I never got back on here after Sat morning this weekend. We have stayed at a Hampton Inn there in the past with hotel points that I had acquired through work. We had to get an extra room one time and it was about $120:scared1:... very nice hotel, but definitely not cheap. There are other hotels around there though. I don't remember which specific ones, but it is basically a good representation of your typical chain hotels along the interstate.

Well, today my son had a basketball game. I told DW that I would bypass going to the game (which I NEVER do) and instead go pick up DD at E3 day (something that our local school system put on this morning). I had seen DS's team play the team they were playing today earlier this year in a tournament and didn't like what I saw, especially from their coach and a couple of their "supporters." You talk about poorly coached and overly physical, that pretty much describes the team (they are literally the no blood, no foul kind of team, and unfortunately their coach doesn't know any other way). Well, as I'm sitting in line to pick up DD, my wife called me and said that the other team's coach AND a parent had been thrown out of the gym and that everything was pretty helter skelter at the moment. First, I'm glad that I wasn't there to see it; second, both of those folks had signed the "behavior contract" at the beginning of the season, and the contract even gave them the consequences for poor behavior at games. Sad, but I could feel it coming based on what I saw in the previous game. Yeah, DS's team won, but according to him, it wasn't a fun win and he was plenty scared when all of the crapola was going down. Not fun times at all. Hope they are banned for the duration that their kids are in the league.
Sounds like Indiana High school basketball...
Not to make light of this part, but I was at a game Friday night where a gentleman in the stands had to be lifelined out after having a heart attack, falling down the stairs and splitting his head open on the playing floor. He was lifelined and pronounced dead about 7 hours later. It was the grandfather of one of the players.

Anyway about the actual game, it was the last regular season game for the #1 and #3 teams in the conference. The #2 team was in the gym sitting behind the #1 team's bench cheering against them because a loss would make it a 2 way tie for the conference championship.
That game got ugly quick... lots of fouls, elbows flying, shoves, technical fouls. Game was good though, 1 point game with a missed shot for the win with 2 seconds left. Post season starts tomorrow and it could get really ugly with 3 of the teams that will be in our sectional.

The school we were supporting is the one that lost and the one that my wife coaches varsity volleyball for. They have a contract all players and parents have to sign. The parents contract contains a part saying they aren't allowed to approach the coach to talk for 24 hours after a game. It doesn't say anything about the athletic director though and he was a popular man after that game.

Throwing down the guantlet, eh? Careful, we've still got the Big East and then the Tourney coming! But then again, I'm the same way with Georgetown, who can lose to anyone at anytime, no matter how bad that other team is (as demonstrated today!)

Its early, but I took the liberty of reserving us a NCAA bracket.

I'll post again as we get closer to Tourney Time. Maybe I can do better than the Football Pick 'Em... :confused3
I am definitely in!!!
All I have to say right now is Boiler Up! Great 2 week stretch... beat the Badgers and Buckeyes at home and the Hoosiers on the road. Then a nice 20 point win in East Lansing yesterday. I just hope they're not peaking too soon.

And speaking of AMAZING, if you need a break from the Oscar coverage, please join Captain Oblivious and I on facebook to chat about tonight's AMAZING RACE :happytv:
I need to get in on that. I never seem to turn it early enough to watch it live though, so I really don't want any spoilers.

OH dont get me started on the BIG LEAST
:lmao::rotfl2: It is a little bit harder to say that during basketball season than football season though.

Barry,

Some big news about the height requirement for the Aquaduck slide!

Thanks for posting! The kids will be beside themselves when we tell them!

I read this post to my DW. She wanted me to inform you she hung a room worth of drywall in our basement while pregnant. :rolleyes1

I am NOT a handy guy, which probably explains why she had to frame & build a basement room without help...:sad2:
Is she free this afternoon?

I'm not giving up yet. A good night's sleep and a shower (in the kid's bathroom) and I'm ready to tackle that thing again!

My local hardware store actually carries them. I though about it, but at $6 a piece, tried to go the traditional route with solder. Now that I think about it, though - $30 or $40 in Sharkbite fittings is still a lot cheaper than a plumber!

:scratchin Hmmmm...
Dave, forget what I said about the Sharkebite. This gives me an idea!

I don't want to discount the use of chewing gum and duck tape, but have you ever tried J.B. Weld? It is kind the same texture as chewing gum, only stronger. I've never done any interior home plumbing fixes with it, but we've used it to fix leaky pipes going out to water the cattle before. I've also used it to fix an oil leak on a tractor... it has held up for probably close to 15 years now and was a lot cheaper than the replacement part.:thumbsup2

oh boy!!!:scared1: as long as you clean the pipe and fitting well, use flux and heat the joint the direction you want the solder to flow, you can get it to flow. the biggest problem with a potable water line is water left in the pipe. even when you heat it up, the water will run back to were your working and the fitting wont get hot enough with water in it. shut the house main valve off, open all the faucets in the house, inside and out, shut the valve off to the water heater and let the water drain back. you also could wad up some bread, stick it in the pipe by the fitting your working on, put the pipe and fitting back togrther and solider the fitting fast. the bread will break apart. theres a reason why there are plumbers!:lmao: alot of plumbers make alot of money fixin what handy dandy homeowners have screwed up. :lmao:just ask me, i fix peoples heating and a/c ideas all the time.:lmao:

I used to work as a plumber and youre spot on with them loving to come out and fix your screw ups. The will end up ripping everything you did just to rub it in that you failed and charge you double. I loved using the bread trick works like a charm to stop the drips.

yes, jb weld. i was just in a house last week. the homeowner used a product like jb weld but made for water lines. he fixed the leak about 2 months ago. him and his wife went to atlantic city for a weekend. there kids called, the guy we lives next door noticed water coming out of there bilko door in the basement. the fix job blew off, flloded the basement to the top!! the water co had to shut the water off. the foundation pushed, ruined the finished basement. they have to jack the house up, redo the foundation and set the house back down. replace the entire basement stuff. i was there to messure up for heat and a/c. this was a 500k house, the guy drive a bmw 700 series. he didnt want to pay a plumber $150.00 to fix his leak. water can do alot of damage. a broken toilet tank in the 2nd floor of a house broke, the entire 1st floor ceiling fell onto the 1st floor of the house. ruin a grand piano and all the furnishings. the house had to be gutted. all ways shut your main water valve off if your going on vacation or going to be away for a while.:thumbsup2

:lmao: people ask me all the time about should i get a plumber? i tell them a few jobs ive been on, burned out houses, an 8 year old boy died in a fire because dad fixed the boiler and i just tell them, i dont fix my own car, i dont operate on my body and i dont drill my own teeth. the way i look at it, you can pay them now or you can pay them later. you can do alot of property damage or worse kill somebody if you dont do it correctly.
