Hmmmmmmmm - do I smell a possible new DIS Dads Give Kids the World fundraising project?

That would be sweet!! Not sure if Brady's Mom would be up to that big of a task though. Maybe look at zazzle and see what kind of pricing we could get. The new logo on a plain white shirt looks pretty sweet.

thats the place!!
I think we originally had a problem with Zazzle when we were putting the word Club on the shirts. I never could get my design accepted with that on it. They kept getting rejected. Someone, possibly Nate, then got a design through without the word Club. Good luck! And, the polos sound great! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Go back to page 238 and that is my shirt from them.Yes just leave the word club off.As they do not do shirts for organizations, schools clubs etc

Is there a wieght requirement/limit for this ride too?
Not that I know of. The article mentioned some kids were too light and couldn't maintain momentum up some some of the hills (thus the increase to 54" minimum for a single rider), but I haven't heard anything about an upper limit.

Oh boy. Everybody look for a mushroom cloud over Wisconsin later today. :rolleyes1
FreezinRafiki: Should I be worried about tremors in the Chicago area, or are you expecting it to be more locallized? :rotfl2:
Oh, come on guys, I was only using a 14 oz propane tank. I'll be neighbors didn't even feel the explosion.

Update: The bathroom is all plumbed up. Now let's see if DW notices that it's just a bare pipe coming out of the wall instead of a fancy massaging shower head...

unfortunately no, my wife does not allow me to be around anything that may explode, catch on fire, cause dismemberment, power tools or silly putty
Try adding vacuum cleaner, dish washer, feather duster and doggy pooper scooper to the list a banned items. Can't hurt to ask. :confused3

Great idea! Besides zazzle, there are lots of small companies around that do orders like this and may be more willing to do orders. Not sure that I have time to coordinate this, but would gladly buy a shirt!

I believe they are talking about the new "podcast" logo over on our Disdads site.

Ahhh… That’s very cool… Kudos to whoever did the drawing. :thumbsup2
I wouldn’t mind having that embroidered on a polo shirt (or something similar).

I may just need to add that image into my Sig while I’m at it.

Wow, this place has been busy this weekend.

The parents contract contains a part saying they aren't allowed to approach the coach to talk for 24 hours after a game.

Dang, I'm loving that part of the contract. I would have loved it more if we had something like that in place a few years ago when I was coaching jr. high basketball.

The problem with our design before and Zazzle was that Zazzle has a deal with Disney that allows Zazzle to use Disney images, including that Goofy image that we use. But that license requires them to put certain restrictions on the use of those images, including not allowing them to be used with a reference to any organization, school, club, etc. The advantage of the podcast logo is that it is original artwork. Though the "ears" in the podcast logo evoke Disney, I don't think they actually infringe on any Disney intellectual property. We also don't use the word "Disney" on the logo anywhere. So it shouldn't be a problem to get the podcast logo put on just about anything we want.

I love the polo idea but for the general public we might have to go with the cheaper tshirt idea.

I was thinking of addressing the group on a fundraising effort. Some of you have followed my PTR and TR of my daughters Make-A-Wish trip which happened December 1-7, 2010. Our family was selected to take part in the BIG Give. What is the Big Give?

(taken from the WISH TRIPPERS THREAD The individual post is HERE )

The Big Give was inspired by Oprah's Big Give (the TV show). It is a group of ladies and men on the DISboards that make custom clothes for families that need some pixie dust. It started with an active DISer that lost a son in a drunk driving accident only days after returning from Disney World. When it was time for their family to go back to Disney, the DISboutiquers made the family clothes to help make their trip extra special.

This first Give went so well, that they have continued the tradition. Now they mainly select Wish Families.

The Big Give is not in any way affiliated with MAW, Disney, GKTW or even officially by the DISboards. It is just a group of very kind ladies and men that just want to bless families that they come to know on the DIS. It is a completely volunteer thing.

The organizers try to include many MAW families that they "meet" and get to know on the DIS.

However, it is impossible to include every family. They have to have a good amount of time to organize it (so if your trip is right around the corner, then they would not be able to do one). And these ladies have families, etc and sometimes life just gets in the way of being able to organize during certain times of the year, vacation, illness, etc, can all factor in to whether they can do a give at any given time.

Anyway...You may see the term "Big Give" in Pre-Trip reports and occasionally on the Wish Trippers thread...and that is what it means!

Now that we have returned from our trip we have decided to join the BIG Give and be a family that sends gifts, toys, gift cards, etc to other Wish families. All of these families are going to Disney and most of them are staying at GKTW. Many of these families are financially strapped because of medical bills they have endured over the years. There have been a few children who passed away shortly after their Wish was granted too.

I don't know if this is getting over my head or how to even organize this but what if the DIS DAD's Club as a whole sent some pixie dust and cheer to some of these families? What if we were able to get every member (easier said than done but..) to throw in $10? We have 500+ members that is $5000. We could send a $100-$200 gift card to these families and could do this for 250-500 families. I am not sure how many 'active' members we have and how many Dis Dad's are no longer even on the DIS?

I haven't brought this idea up to the Big Give organizers yet. I wanted to see your thoughts and to see if anyone would be willing? I will take all ideas and criticism. If you'd rather PM me that is fine.

If you wanted to see what the BIG Give did for our family read HERE (PTR) Post 2 has a TOC that you can jump to the Gives starting with entry #20.

A NEMESIS :cool1: Strictly within the Big East though. After all that is the only conference where they play real basketball.

Louisville won (despite cheerleader efforts) & Wildcats won. Looks like 2 KY teams will be headed to the tournament to whip the rest of ya pretenders.

I'm glad you brought this up. I'm not sure I could be a member of the Big Give in a way to actively make and send things, but when I read about it in your PTR I thought it looked like a really great program. If there was a way I could contribute some money to help with it I definitely would.

About the cheerleader: Funniest thing to happen in a college basketball game since 1985 when Bobby decided a chair would look better on the other side of the gym.
About the KY teams and whooping up on pretenders:

Great idea Tim!

I haven't had a chance to read the other threads yet but I wonder if there is an area they haven't thought of that could kind of be the DisDad contribution to their packages. Do they do anything with Photopasses?

I think our active members might be a little low to raise what you estimated but if we can think of some kind of an ongoing project I would be happy to contribute $5 or $10 a month towards something.

I have to be careful here as a KY transplant but :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: (Also I know SU will break my heart again. The names Keith Smart, Bobby Knight and Indiana still make me :headache:.)

We all have our demons.
I still have nightmares about Hakim Warrick jumping from one side of the gym to the other to block Michael Lee's three-point attempt. :faint:

It's the former. Definitely the former. :rolleyes1

Very reassuring coming from my nemesis... :rolleyes1

Tell her its one of those new, waterfall feature shower heads. See if she'll notice. :lmao:
