That's a good idea. I don't even need the competition so much as just plain ol' accountability. It's easier to make yourself work out if you know somebody's going to ask you about it. I'd be up for this.

I definitely need to myself, and yeah, not having the accountability or the inspiration from others has killed any motivation I might have from time to time.

Funny that you guys are talking about weight loss. I've been putting off getting a Wii Fit for my wife because I knew it would mean work for me. I kept putting it off because it cost too much - until last night when I found one for $63 @ Sam's Club (purchased and returned same day by someone else - open box special for me!). My wife and kids are all smack-dab in the middle of the "normal" BMI. When mine went it topped out the scale. I guess that doesn't mean that I win. Apparently my weight is only ideal if I were 11' tall. *sigh*

Back to running and eating food I hate.

In other news, it's nice to have something to track it with. I may end up moving the wii to the office where the treadmill is. That'll make the running parts better anyway.

My problem is that my calves kill me when I run. They're 18" of solid muscle. I run for 5-10 minutes and they start to stiffen up and hurt.

Stupid Wii Fit - I knew that thing would be nothing but trouble. Grr..

Oh, and the best part? Everyone in my family was 10-20 years OVER in their Wii Fit age! Me? 10 years UNDER! Yeah baby!

Okay, back to the grind. :sad2:

OK... I know this might go over like a cinderblock tied to an ankle (no offense to any Jersey Dads) but maybe we can set up a page on either FB or disdasds.com with our weight loss goals and track our progress. Then we can compare to others dads and make it like a game... I know most of us need something or someone to compete against.

Something like:

Our name
Current weight
Body fat (don't know if anyone has easy access to this info)
Desired weight
Exercise routine?
Eating habbits?
What we want to accomplish?
Daily updates... if you fell off the wagon?
Weekly weigh ins
ETC......

It is just a thought. I've been trying to get back to the gym but it seems every day is something. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

I'd be in for that.

My brother lost 70 lbs through diet & exercise, then stopped both, and put 30 back on, so be careful whatever you try to do to lose weight.

I want an e-reader. 2 friends have a nook, and i've considered a Kindle or iPad. IPad wins from the cool factor,:thumbsup2 but does a 64 gb I pad have the space for everything? At 64 gb, it seems... small. And, would an iPod touch w/ a nook app be cheaper as an e-reader compared to an iPad? :confused3

I bought DW a nook at christmas, she is a huge reader and had been wanting an e-reader. A couple months later they came out with the iPad and I'm kicking myself. I really wish I had gotten the iPad. Its more expensive, but it does sooooo much more. We just ordered a couple for some of the executives at the office and they are amazing.

Not only am I a Disney Dad, I'm also a Disney Grandad.

As my Grandchildren ask, 'Papa, why do you like Disney so Much'.

Now that I've taken them once, they now ask, 'Papa, when can we go again.......'

hey guys I am not going to go back and make all the quotes, but the last few pages are filled with weight loss talk. If we dont knock it off and stop it right now we may start to think we have a Topic going on in here.:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

Oh and ps

I am in for any weight loss thing,as long as I dont have to give up my food!!!!! cause I love my food :rotfl2:

Oh and one more thing. For those dads going in Dec,dont use a diet as an excuse not to meet up at Ghirardellis for a dis dads meet n greet.I am sure they have suger free ice cream.:rotfl2::lmao:

Sounds like a plan... I'd be willing to give it a shot.

Edit: Just wanted to add this little nugget that I just found out. As a Reds fan, it has been a long time since there's been much to celebrate, but if they can hold on to their 7 game lead over the Cards and take the Central.... I HAVE PLAYOFF TICKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Cards! (i can't even TYPE this with enthusiasm after watching the cards play the past month...)

my 7 yr old keeps asking me when we're going to Wii Fit again. That and his tan are why I keep calling him "The Situation."

I love me some ice cream :thumbsup2

We didn't start yet, did we? 'Cause I just enjoyed the heck out of a large banana split blizzard. Mmm...

I mean, it's no Dole whip

With all this talk about eating better I felt guilty tonight and had a Healthy Choice for dinner:angel:

The iPad is very cool, I am in the process of learning how to use this thing, but I feel really cool trying. I listened to the podcast on my iPad today and also played poker. It was either an iPhone or this, I chose this because I didn't want to change my phone plan. I am really glad I went with this. I use the iPad in conduction with my Mac so I am not really storing a ton of stuff on it. Just some pictures and music and some games. So far I don't regret it at all.

Outstanding, our schedule was thrown off a bit tonight, so DW and I are dining AFTER the kids go to bed. Naturally, I'm scouring the house looking for something to throw on the Weber. Now, after catching up on all of the "diet" talk, I think I'll go for a salad :rotfl2:

On to serious business...I've been a "lurker" for quite some time, but have recently started posting. I'd love to post some pics in the "photos and avg tourist wouldn't take" thread, but am unsure how to do so. :confused3 Do I have to use photobucket? I have the pics on my hard drive, and they're also in an album on FB (an album that I granted "public" access to). Thoughts???

Have a great week everyone :thumbsup2

13 days until our next trip :cool1:

Me too! Oh, and nothing that will make me tired. ;)

All this talk of losing weight, but i still want to visit DisneyDaddy-O's restaurant! Now where was that again???

I think that others have tried to use FB photos here before but there is something about the way that FB stores them that doesn't allow them to be seen here. Most folks here will use photobucket or flickr. (I believe that both are free)

I heard a story on TV and checked out a library book called "The China Study" by Campbell. I've only read a few chapters thus far, but basically, it is publication of a research that links animal protein consumption with cancer cell promotion. I'm not sure I could give up my steaks and hamburgers, but I'll keep reading and see what it says.

Count me in!!! WEnt to doc this mroning and the Byetta for diabetes is not working so chaging meds again...exercise and weight loss are what I need to get things in order...I have a pressure wound on the back of one of my heels today that he found..so now I have to go to a foot doc Uuugh![/I][/B][/COLOR]

Sorry to hear you didn't take to the Byetta. You are definately not alone there. The good news is it doesn't take dropping much weight to start cutting back on the meds.

Luckily, I won't have to do this one:cool1: 6ft, 181pounds, Dr says I can eat anything I want, BP is the problem, been taking meds for a few years now, and they are at the right levels now:banana:

After working in the Frozen Food field for 22yrs now, I will say that they do not have sugar free ice cream. They may have No sugar added with a range of 2-5grams of natural sugar. You can get Ice Pops that are sugar free in the stores.

Also if anyone starts doing the diet dinners, make sure you check the sodium levels, some of them are heart attacks in a box if you have HP:scared1:

Checkout the app from Log Me In. It will allow you to log into your computer from your iPad and work off your computer's desktop as if you were using it
