If you want, you can walk 8 miles a day, pay $9 for a $3 hamburger, and play the it's a small world song on your iPod - it's just like being is Disney World!

PERFECT! Will there be crowds of rude Brazilian teenagers there, preventing me from getting in to my meeting rooms?

I'm sure most of you saw the solemn, surprising news that Brett Favre has decided to retire. So, what's your prediction for the triumphant "I'm coming back!" news conference? I'll put the over/under at 3 weeks.

Also, which team will he play for after un-retiring?

a. Minnesota Vikings
b. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
c. Toronto Argonauts
d. Miami Heat

I've done some geocaching around here and it is fun, but I felt that it was almost cheating to use GPS. The pre-tech version is letter-boxing and clues required a compass, map and pace count. I guess I'm old school, but I wanted to teach my kids the basic before pulling out the tech toys. A map never needs a recharge! I think I'll check out the geocache lists for finds at WDW - my phone does GPS well enough for that. That assumes we aren't flat wore out from all the fun.

I have Geocache Navigator on my Blackberry Storm2 and it works perfectly. There just happen to be 4 "virtual" geocaches at WDW as a matter of fact, and numerous regular caches within a mile of WDW. I will be finding the ones onsite in Decemeber.
I would love to try the old school method of geocaching it seems more of a hunt.

I am driving to DW the end of the month. I have heard good and bad things about the DW buses. We are staying at the All-Star Movie. My question is should I drive to the parks each day or take the bus. Any thoughts?

I like the idea of a handheld GPS. :thumbsup2 They actually did an introduction to geocaching at one of their camps. Any suggestions as to a particular brand or model that would be suitable?

Im partial to the Garmin brands. REI.com has a great selection to LOOK at to get some specs on them but I would look at your local craigslist to buy, you'll find them cheaper there.

if you dont mind a fresh set of door dings in the side of your car, drive to the parks. if not, take the bus. i take the bus!!!:thumbsup2

We teach the Scouts in our troop the "old fashioned" compass based orienteering too and there is a set course at our local Scout camp. I just returned from picking up a Garmin Venture HC bundle ($32 cheaper than just the GPS unit itself:confused:)for my son. Let the fun begin!:cool1:

Parking is free for resort guests, so you've got that going for you. You also need to consider how many people are in your party and how easy it would be to get them, and all of your gear, on a bus. Conversely, the bus drops you off right at the entrance to the park. If you drive, you'll either have to walk the expansive parking lot or take a parking lot tram. If you have strollers, the kids will have to be out of them and the stroller folded up to ride the tram.
When we have a car, we typically drive to all of the parks except Magic Kingdom. Even after riding the MK parking lot tram, you either have to take a monorail or ferry to the park. The bus drops off right at the entrance.
While the bus system is very good, it's not uncommon to have to wait 15, 20 or even 30 minutes for a bus. If you've got little ones, this can be an eternity.

We have had a Magellan Explorist 210 for several years and we are happy with it. The Garmins also work well and are very popular.

I joined the Geocaching site today it looks like fun. We love to jump in the car and head in random directions and off the beaten path. We call it Hill-Venturing the geochaching will add to the fun.:cool1::cool1:
Geocaching is fun!:)

Geocaching sounds like a lot of fun. One of these days, I'll have to get me a GPS and give it a shot. I've resisted getting a GPS up to this points because...well, I'm a guy. I don't need directions. But I guess it's ok if it comes from technology.
It would be very difficult to find most geocaches without the aid of a GPSr.
That comes from someone with map and compass experience from 8+ years in Search and Rescue. You'll be glad you have one for directions! ;)

Our Troop just started working, as a group actually, on the new Geo-Caching Merit Badge. My boys and I have had a lot of fun with it. Last Monday night we were, along with the others in the Troop that showed up, were traipsing around our town's downtown seeking out 8 different locations hidden around town. One was in an old cemetery from the early 1800's that I didn't even know existed. Pretty cool stuff. We have a little GPS unit, and I have a geocaching site link on my Droid that I've been tinkering with. Can't wait to explore and find more - especially at WDW.
It's nice to know geocaching is now a merit badge! :thumbsup2

Mike (Mijo) Congrats on your son being selected to the Blue Angels. I meant to write you, but my weekend DIS time is very limited. :thumbsup2

Oooooorr, these photos are from government satellites.....

A new off-topic - government conspiracies. The moon landing? Exploding cigar? Hanging chads?

First, who plans a conference in Dallas in early August? Highs for the next three days? 100, 98, and 103!

Heat index in KY today - 124. In Kentucky?

Is it nemeses; nemesises; nemesis'; nemesisi; nemesi?

anti-nemesis

Reason to drive- The All Star buses are absolutely mad dog crazy at park closing. They are packed, front to back, and not many giving up seats for women and children.

Reason to bus - You have a long walk from parking lot to park entrance. Driving to MK, you have to take the parking trolley and then another transport at ticket station. After a long day, it is nice to get on the bus, even standing, and not have to think where I parked or how I get back to the resort.

My conclusion: We do Disney transport. We also bought DVC and don't ride too many buses, and when we do, they aren't crowded. Good luck.

I think it will be with the Chicago Sky (WNBA team)

Hey guys... maybe you've already read this, maybe not... but I just got this in my emailbox direct from Mousesaveers. WDW & DL tix prices WILL in fact be going up this Thursday. So if you are planning a trip J will need to purchase tix (not part of a package deal) - you might want to seriously consider doing so tonight or Wednesday to avoid the increase.

That's all for now...just wanted to share.

Wow just got to go fishing twice in the last three days. Love summer striper in the upper Delaware. This fishin has got me thinking of a Disney fishing trip in Dec when we go. Any possible takers?

Our troop does it BOTH ways now. Orienteering is a great skill, but using the technology is so cool!
