My DW thinks I have gone over the deep end this year, I must admit she probably has a point. I don't do a sheet per day but do have a half page, color coded daily itinerary with ADR conf #'s, important phone #'s and park hours(including EMH's, parades and shows) on one side and a list of attractions by park on the other. I also made a custom journal for DD with questions about rides ridden, shows seen, characters met etc. It has a section for each park and spaces for placing pictures. I did this because while planning for our trip this year we tried to remember how many days we went to each park, what shows we missed etc. and we couldn't remember a lot of the details. I know it seems lke a lot of work to some but I have done desktop publishing and spreadsheets for years so it comes together pretty quickly. Of course that doesn't mean I didn't obsess over the details for months.

On top of all that I made custom t-shirts, window clings for the resort room and personalized tip envelopes. Oh and I made custom postcards as well. I bought this little instant photo printer for $18 the other day that prints 2" x 3" pics with a sticker back, we're gonna put them on the postcards for family.

Yeah, I may need to seek some help. :confused3

Again, DW thinks I spend too much time planning our vacation. I'm not anywhere close. But, my approach to vacation planning is probably just a lot different. My mom was obsessive on vacations - taking every tour and planning every minute. It was not fun.

So, I keep a real open agenda, grab a map/ times at the entrance, do one park a day, only 2/3 parks a week, have certain rides or fastpass/ ride system planned, and have my ADR confirmation numbers with me. This year, we are doing BBB, so I have to bring a brush and something else. I don't even want to carry a backpack in the parks. DW still brings one.

DW and I stopped in at Office Depot the other day to get my itinerary laminated.

Just like the NFL coaches have? Park hours and ADRs on one side, best plays for 4th and short vs. a 3-4 defense inside the red zone on the other. And make sure that if you're ever in the park and on the phone with your DW, hold the card in front of your mouth so none of the other park guests can read your lips and beat you to whatever ride you're arranging to meet at.:thumbsup2

Yeah, but I thought page 2 was all the fake plays for the cameras and other coaches to catch when they held the cards in front of the mouth. Does everyone in the family get a wrist band with a code for all the plays?

Took DS downtown to the NC State Campus to do some fishing on Sunday night. After about 25 minutes he caught his first fish ever.

Hey guys, been away awhile. Glad to get to check back in!

NEW JERSEY Dis Dads: I'll be traveling to NJ Fri/Sat. Would welcome any suggestions for things to do solo between Newark and Edison.

Thanks.:surfweb:

I'm about 30miles South of Edison, if your going to Edison your might be going to the Raritian Center:confused3, Since you will most likely be traveling the GSP I'll run down some exits:goodvibes, Edison is exit 120 something I think, then you go over the Raritan River Bridge (to me its like the Mason Dixion line) Totally different worlds.Exit 105 Monmoth Park Race Track ( Horse Racing), Exit 100 Asbury Park (Bruce Springteens turf) it has come a long way, but I would not recommend it at night. Exit 98 Point Pleasant Beach a nice boardwalk with some good resturants in the area, sight of the hermit crab races that we went to all summer:goodvibes. My exit is 89, Exit 82 Seaside Hieghts, bigger boardwalk than Point Pleasant, The show Jersey Shore is filmed there.:scared1: Exit 52 Smithville Jersey Devils birthplace, Exit I think its 42 AC Expressway brings you into AC,

As far as up where you will be I can only give you 3 suggestions, Midevil Times in East Rutherford, also Meadowlands Race Track (Horse Racining) & Liberty State Park in Jersey City.

If you come down to Pt Pleasant Beach or Seaside let me know, maybe we can meet up and I'll show you around:goodvibes

trying ONE MORE TIME... if there's just a red X again, can I delete the post?

(I think the trouble is Flickr won't let me resize the image? :confused3)

The preview worked, but i used the "copy BBCode" instead of the URL. How/why would this matter?

technically, it doesn't, 'cause hopefully you all can see Baby Girl!!
Cathryn Joyce.

(After 4 grandsons, my folks are ready for baby girl)

Half the fun of a vacation is the planning that goes into it.:thumbsup2

I found a cool app for the iPhone/iPod Touch called TripIt. It has an automatic email service. Every time you make a reservation and get a confirmation email (airplane, hotel, restaurant ADR), you forward the email to their service and it immediately populates a trip itinerary for you. Then the app downloads the itinerary, so you have all your information (flight numbers, confirmation numbers, etc.) all in one place without having to carry the 3-ring binder of printouts.

I always thought those were just Chinese take-out menus.
