I'm about to head up to bed, and it's now officially Monday morning, so I guess the stretch-run has officially begun. This is going to be an insane next few weeks.

Have a great trip, and I am right on your heels looks like I will be checking in at contemp when you are checking out of Poly
If you get chance let me know what the lines are like.

Her half was passed down to the 5 of us, so I now technically own 1/10 of a dairy farm.
Move over afwdwfan - you're no longer the only farmer in the club!

Tax problems will become a thing of the past. Welcome to the red ink club!:rotfl2:

I must be one of those "buzz-killers" you read about.

Good work! :thumbsup2 It would be a lot of fun just hiding in that thing scaring people though... maybe you should try that once in a while now. If someone is acting up, just make them pee their pants, sounds fair to me! You probably won't even have to ask them to leave.

I may get a chance to come back up for air again sometime around Thanksgiving.

Sounds like some busy times ahead. At least you get to take some time to enjoy with the family next week. I'm sure your kids will love their surprise. Have a wonderful trip!

Pretty much goofed off all weekend--had to replace fuel lines on my boat...ethanol ate up one of my lines--not a tough fix, but aggravating...

Um... did someone forget to drain their fuel?????
I had a 4 wheeler that had some issues from gas with 10% ethanol, but it was due to a combination of cold weather and sitting for a couple of weeks... apparently the ethanol makes fuel more likely to have condensation and separates the water out causing it to freeze in the gas lines and carburetor. I'd have thought the ethanol (alcohol) would keep that from happening :confused3. I do know that E85 will definitely eat fuel lines and any rubber in the carb if you don't have everything converted to handle it. :rolleyes1

Hope you have a great trip...:thumbsup2

...and get some good pictures for the caption contest.

Yeah...what he said!

Have a great time and I wish I could have gotten the kids out of the house when we packed. That added an extra 2 hours.

First, welcome to our new members. We’re mightily glad to have you along for the ride. :thumbsup2

Well weekend #2 of the Corn Maze. Already tossed 10 people out...well actually 3...but one guy had friends that left when I tossed him out.

Good work. Too bad there always seems to be someone that just has to be tossed out of the pool. “Y’all keep ‘em straight up there”

**Yawn**

Mornin' boys...just got caught up:surfweb:

Spent last week turning in gear, doing post deployment paperwork, closing out my file at my old Field Office, etc. etc..

Pretty much goofed off all weekend--had to replace fuel lines on my boat...ethanol ate up one of my lines--not a tough fix, but aggravating...

Again, we’re all glad to have you back home in one piece, and I know you family must be beside themselves just having dad back in the house. Hope the adjustment back to our somewhat less exciting civilian lifestyle isn’t to out tough

Have a great trip and just holler back whenever you get a chance.

We’ll we had a very eventful weekend down this way. First, I think it only fair that I throw out an official “Band Geek Alert”: :rolleyes1 If the subject of high school marching bands bores you to tears, skip on down to the next post (you won’t offend me one bit ), but as a very proud parent, I just gotta’ write this down somewhere.

Now then… This weekend our young band of musicians picked up a few awards for all the hours of very hard work they’ve been putting in since mid July. We crossed the boarder up into North Carolina for our first competition of the 2010 season and performed very well. As I worked with the “Pit Crew” handling gear and props on the field, I can’t really gage individual crowd reactions, but we did get a standing ovation and several of the parents that were up in the stands said there were a lot of dropped jaws accompanied by comments along the lines of “I’ve never seen that done before” and “Who the heck are those kids and where did y’all say your were from?” (Our school is only four years old so not everyone has herd of us yet). The net result of the day’s work was first place trophies in the categories of “Marching & Maneuvering”, “General Effect” (similar to the concept of “Showmanship”), “Best Drum Line”, “Best Music” (the one we are always most proud of), and “Best in Class”. To top it off, they also succeeded in bring home the overall “Grand Champion” trophy for the entire contest. An excellent day’s work I do believe. It’s really great to watch the reactions of the freshmen as they get to see all that sweat and effort start to pay off and finally start to understand why the upper classmen are so serious about what their doing. The hard part now is helping them to staying focused and not let the results of one contest go to their heads. They still have a long way to go even to qualify for a spot in the state championships and each competition will be m-u-c-h tougher then the last. But it’s a great start and we’re all so proud of our kids that we could just bust :goodvibes

:lmao::lmao:

No, I had all that covered, but there's a certain line Mercury installed back in 07 that would deteriorate with the Ethanol and even worse when treated with additives or stabilizers (which makes no sense, but whatever)...sure enough, I had that line, and sure enough, I had some deterioration..

Ethanol is hard on lines and older equipment...mine was supposed to handle it, and the other lines have...luckily, it's only the line from the bulb to the motor, which is a pretty easy fix:thumbsup2

Friday - wake up (and wake the kids up) at about 4:30 a.m. to catch our early morning flight to Orlando

I'd keep them in suspense a little longer, when you wake them up tell them that there are some problems with the case your working on and you need to get everyone out of the city until things blow over!

Congrats Rob! As far as I'm concerned, there's always a place for proud Dad stories.

Catching up on reading...welcome new Dads! Kazooie01, your story is very moving. Glad you found us.

Aaron, have a great trip! Judging from this past week, expect a decent amount of people, but you should be able to do all the rides without too much trouble and wise Fast pass use. We definitely saw a difference in the EMH parks vs. non-EMH parks.

Yeesh. I feel like I've been air-surfing on a tornado today, trying to get stuff done that has to be done before I'm gonna. Gotta love it when your biggest client stops by the office and casually mentions that, "that thing I said we needed by the end of October? Well, we actually need it by October 5. And it would be better if we got it sooner."

Guess what, you're getting it before October 1 - because any time after that, it would be late. Guess I'll be up late writing while I'm in Omaha tomorrow.

From one Band Geek to anohter WooHoo!:thumbsup2 Congratulations!! I used to love those competitions...

Wow- I just stumbled upon this thread...so I am not the only Dad who is their family's number one Dis-freak?

It is like running into a Red Sox fan in the Bronx when the Sox aren't in town. You know they are out there but you still feel like the only one.

And for you Yankees fans...congrats - you are all but in the postseason. I am a Sox die hard but love the game too much to be a hater of any team.

So I will proudly say I have 3 spreadsheets going at work with info for our trip in 4 days. Not much is actual needed information really, I just like reasons to plan...makes the vaca longer.

So - thanks...needed to get that off my chest!

Sounds like we'll be in the World at the same time. Where are you staying?

I'm about to head up to bed, and it's now officially Monday morning, so I guess the stretch-run has officially begun. This is going to be an insane next few weeks.

Tomorrow - in the office at work.
Tuesday-Wednesday - in Omaha on work travel (return Wednesday, probably late afternoon)
Thursday - 2/3 day at work, then head home and get the final packing done with DW while my Mom entertains the kids out of the house. (They still have no idea that we're taking this trip)
Friday - wake up (and wake the kids up) at about 4:30 a.m. to catch our early morning flight to Orlando

October 1-9 - Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure/Walt Disney World

Oct. 11 - Columbus Day Holiday
Oct. 12-13 - Work travel to D.C.

Oct. 20-21 - Work travel to Cape Girardeau, MO (trial)

I may get a chance to come back up for air again sometime around Thanksgiving.

That's funny how you think that you will get any work done this week with your trip that close! :rotfl:

I am particulary proud of your "hiding skills"......:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Hmm. Hiding skills. Seems like a common trait among the Fuzzes... :rolleyes1

Band Geek here too so... :cool1::cool1::cool1:

We did our pre-Dec Commando park training this weekend in BG VA, park opened at 10 closed at 10 (a lidgt 12hr day). I'm happy to say DW passed with flying colors:banana: We were able to hit all the rides + shows well before Hollow-Scream started at 6:cool1: With out wasting any time we were able to hit ALL the scare zones, with time to spare we hit 2 of the really good shows again, and a few more rides.

Day 2

Heading home but not without hitting Kings Domionion, got there at 10:30am had all the rides done and on our way home by 3pm. Shows & scare zones did not start till 7pm (would have never made it work at 7am:scared1:)

Oct. 20-21 - Work travel to Cape Girardeau, MO (trial)

Hey, Cape! I do love this side of the State. Though, the interstate highway system doesn't give you a direct route from the OP to Cape. Sorry 'bout that.

Wow- I just stumbled upon this thread...so I am not the only Dad who is their family's number one Dis-freak?

Big fan of your line there. Though, my line is that as much as i want to hate the Yankess, I like Derek Jeter, because he plays the game the right way.

i made up a calendar today. Days we're there, what restaurants, which parks are doing EMH, and when to do the new years eve fireworks. gonna do DEC 30 at MK, and New Years at Epcot. I'm pretty stoaked.

We managed to get some good news today. Shari had to go for her pre op visit to the Doc today and he told her that he was not so sure that her thyroid mass is malignant after all. I am not sure what has changed his mind but I dont care!!!! The plan is to remove the left half next Firday because of the size of it anyway. However, he wont know 100% for sure about if it is malignat or not until after the surgery. So, I am looking at this as the glass is half full!!! Keep praying for her!:thumbsup2

Steve,

Just caught up to the update on your wife. Praying there's no malignancy after all!

A lot of people suffering out there...hope everyone is keeping the family close and appreciating the things they have. :grouphug:

Staying at BWV, AJ - be there through 10/10...4 days and counting...

Mind if I join?

Hi. My name is Jimmie. I'm a 50 yo Disney dad/grandpa. My wife & I have been married for 29 years and we've been going to Disney since 1990. We have two grown daughters who grew up going to Disney. Just last year, we took our first grandchild. Our second grandchild is on the way (due in March), and we can't wait to take him/her in a few years.

By day, I'm an elementary school music teacher. I was a high school band director for 25 years, up until 2008. When the grandkids started coming along, I decided the long hours associated with high school band were over. I now teach grades K-4. The hours are much better and the stress level is much lower, LOL!

As you can see, I've been a DISer for a long time. I heard about your club on the DISUnplugged Podcast, & decided to introduce myself.

:wave2:

G;ad you found us through the podcast :cool1: You are member # 527! :thumbsup2

From one DIS-freak to another... welcome! You are member # 528! :thumbsup2

:welcome: WELCOME TO THE DIS DAD'S CLUB! :welcome:

You have been added to the DIS Dad's Club list :thumbsup2

Finally all caught up with the thread again :thumbsup2 Ended up taking a long weekend by car up to visit my folks in Canton, OH. Left early morning Friday and drove back yesterday. The reason behind the trip was to surprise Mom with a birthday party. Well... we made it to Ohio in time to visit her at her work just before her shift ended. We sat in the waiting area and just let her "find" us sitting there. She saw my wife first... and when she looked at her she looked confused... just said "Hi"... then did a double-take and when she realized all three of us were there (smiling) she screamed with delight and gave us all big hugs. Later in the weekend she admitted that if we weren't smiling she would have thought something bad had happened! Anyway... it was a great trip and one that my Mom will not soon forget. Since my Dad's b-day is July 4th, we usually always just make it to Ohio for his b-day. This was the first year in a LONG time we made it for hers.

PSA - If anyone would like their PTR/TR added to page 1 of the thread, please send me a PM.
