Only 7 days until our next disney trip can't wait. Got to go see Captain Hook on a fireworks cruise, should be pretty cool.(Captain hooks my hero)pirate: Also this is the first time I've done any of these forums, I'm new to your little community.

welcome to the club!! hey steve, another one from pa.!!!! i think we are leading?:thumbsup2

THANK YOU Dvczerfs :) Much appreciated. I was amazed at your totals 48 trips to WDW and three more planned. I like that. DW has been talking to me about DVC for sometime. I think we need to make that move as well.

after those three trips we will be going in sept. and jan. for the next 4-5 years. dd grads. from high school in 2011 and will be off to school so it will just be dw and i again. im trying to talk dd into the disney col. program but she wont go that far away from home.:lmao: we made it to easy around here for her.:lmao:

There's a small chance that we'll shift our plans and to the MNSSHP on the 3rd instead. We're really struggling with how to handle Squeaker at WDW, given that it's now pretty clear that he hates just about all rides and won't go near characters. I'm leaning toward not taking him to MNSSHP, so either DW or I would stay with him and find something special to do with him while the other takes The Bug to the party. The downside of doing the party on the 3rd is that it is currently scheduled to be our first day at the Magic Kingdom. I'm not sure that nighttime during the party is the best first exposure to the MK for the kids.

We had a similar experience the first trip with our kids. They were 3 and 5 at the time. Characters weren't a huge problem. My DD was 3 at the time she loved the princesses, mickey, minnie, and the whole crowd. But she wouldn't go near eyore at CP. Fireworks were a huge nightmare. Any time one went off the 3 year old would just lose it, thus, causing her brother to lose it. Rides just depended on the kids mental state at the time. Went back a year later and had no real problems with characters or fireworks.

Now rides that a whole other topic. I remember our DS throwing a fit in front of POC on our second trip. You know the type I don't want to ride it I don't. My DW grabbed his arm and just started walking and saying Now we're going to ride this and you're going to like it. I think after about the fifth or sixth I don't wanna fit she lost it. If I had been the one to do this, we probably would've of met some of those nice undercover security types mentioned in another thread. But Hey, the kid loves that ride now. Hopefully, he's not laying on a couch telling a doctor about it when he's 30. Luckily you know ahead of your trip that he's like that so you can plan accordingly. I know me and the kids watch youtube videos of rides and it helps them know what they can expect. It's tough when the kids throw a monkey wrench in the plans. About all the planning I do is ADR's, and which park on which day. Other than that our kids one day will want to ride and do everything and the next day want go near things. So we just try and go with the flow the best we can, or until DW decides to take matters into her own hands.:rolleyes1

I went ahead and added our new members to the "Where we are all from" list and Emma's Dad will issue official numbers soon.

I am on call today and when I got home from one of my call outs this afternoon the pipes under the kitchen sink were leaking and flooding the kitchen...thank goodness I was there to find it before it ruined everything. Anyone want to come and fix it? LOL

That's funny and right on the mark. After we explained it to her and told her she had to do her best and show everyone what a good swimmer she is so that the coach will be forced to put her on the A team, she just shrugged and said "I'm going to tell (the other girl) tomorrow that it's OK she's on the A Team even though I beat her." Then she got upset and threw a tantrum because her cousin and brother got an extra turn on a slip 'n slide.

ClearScreen

That's just a crappy situation. It made me think of the Detroit pitcher who lost the perfect game because the umpire blew the call earlier this year. He has handled it with nothing but class and grace, so that's probably a great example you can point to right there.

I think the Tigers also gave him a brand new convertible. Don't tell your daughter that part.

I am trying to get DW to plan more trips in advance. Tell your DD that the Disney College Program is amazing. We have known a few friends that have gone through the program. It's a once in a lifetime event. Something they will always look back on. I wish I had done the program back in the mid 1980s. My kids are already talking about doing it when they get older.

Oh it was only 52 today.....52 C....so, about 125 for a high...didn't stay there long, it was 46, or 114 when I went jogging:sick:

Hey DisneyFed my dw went running this morning and was telling me how hot it was outside. Its now 92 degrees here in upstate New York. I will pass along the temperatures you were dealing with today. Not sure if that will make her feel any better lol

Hello All... I am brand spanking new to DISboards. Just joined a few moments ago. Wanted to start things off right by joining the Dad's Club.
Welcome to the Asylum, um... I mean the Club!

Is Emma Dad Around... I want to get my members number :)
Don (Emma's Dad) is on vacation - but not a Disney World. We're considering bringing him up on charges, stripping him of his title, and evicting him from the club. Unless he has a valid excuse such as "my wife made me."

I found a 1000 gallon pool (10' by 2.5') for $40.00 at Toys R Us and bought that. It was an upgrade over the kiddie pool we had in the back yard.
Best investment I've made. I assume you're talking about the kind with the filter and inflatable ring on the top. Once you figure out the right chemicals and how to take care of it, filling it once will last you all summer. We started with the 10' model and this is now our second year with a 12'. I'm smelling at 15 footer for next year. :thumbsup2

My son was never terrified of the characters, but he certainly didn't want anything to do with them. He eventually warmed up to the "face" characters (especially Jasmine and Ariel). Soon enough he was following his sister and running up to characters. Unfortunately, it wasn't an overnight change. I'm not sure there is any advice in there, but if you found some, go ahead and use it.
He may like the slower paced rides like the TTA, the riverboat, the carousel, Jungle Cruise, etc. Maybe after a few times on those he'll be open to Dumbo or Aladdin's carpets. Or maybe he'll be a typical 3 year old and you won't be able to get a gosh darn handle on what he's thinking - ever.

Ooooo...first post used to join the Dad's Club. That's awesome. Welcome! And you must let us know how the cruise went. I really want to try one.

My brother-in-law did the college program a few years back. He was originally put on Star Tours loading people. He never like Star Wars to begin with, and he hated it - ready to quit after one day. That evening at the gym, he struck up a conversation with the guy on the treadmill next to him. Turns out that guy was the head of life guarding. The next day, the BIL was transferred to the lifeguard training school, and eventually to Typhoon Lagoon.

FreezinRafiki thank you for the welcome is appreciated. Also for the update on Emma's Dad. Don't be too hard on him. I bet his DW made him go where she wanted to go.

Remember, Don isn't allowed to go back to WDW, until he writes that TR he promised from the trip he just got back from about a month ago. :rotfl:pirate:

Welcome! Come on in and sit a spell. Pirates are very welcome in these waters. Anyone who will spend their first post joining the DDS (as opposed to firing off an angry response in on of the more, shall we say: “ill-tempered” threads) is someone that will fit in nicely around here. :cool2:

Hi New Dads.....

Here's the Dancing Federalies to welcome you to the club:lmao:

:dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer:

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

dd grads. from high school in 2011 and will be off to school so it will just be dw and i again. im trying to talk dd into the disney col. program but she wont go that far away from home.:lmao: we made it to easy around here for her.:lmao:

I believe I’ll just have to let this be a lesson to myself. Our DS grads-out in 2013, so I’ve only got a limited length of time to make the prospect of staying around the house so unpalatable that he’ll actually want to head out into the “real world”. :rolleyes1 I’ll have to look into the “Disney Collage Program”. It looks like a good opportunity for a DIS-Head (and my boy is that in spades) to work a bit and learn a bit.

Oh it was only 52 today.....52 C....so, about 125 for a high...didn't stay there long, it was 46, or 114 when I went jogging:sick:

Good Lord man! You and I both come from heat, but that’s crazy heat. Is that part of the map really that much closer to the sun? I’ll have to stop the next person I hear fussin’ about the humidity and point out just where else they could be spending their time.

How much longer before you get to come back home?

I am on call today and when I got home from one of my call outs this afternoon the pipes under the kitchen sink were leaking and flooding the kitchen...thank goodness I was there to find it before it ruined everything. Anyone want to come and fix it? LOL

Glad to here you caught it in time. Things like that are what make me shut off the water when we’re heading out of town for longer then a day. Don’t know that I’d be the right person to come up and fix it, but I’d be real good at busting it. I’ll have to second the call for duct tape (or you could try some of that “Mighty Fixit Tape” that I see advertised late at night, just be sure to order in the next five minutes or you won’t get the free double order or the complimentary set of Ginsu knives)

Thats insane, is that a required run or chioce:confused3

The last few days after getting off work, I have gone through mild shock:scared1: going from minus 10 -30 degrees to 98 degrees , a 110 difference within a couple minutes puts your body through hell:scared1: I can actually feel the cold leaving my body, it almost looks like a exorcism:lmao:

I'm pretty sure I could handle the Frozen Tundra, but no way could I do 125 degrees.

We’ll we finally got around to seeing TS3, and as usual, the folks at Pixar have again proved that they are just about the best in the business when it comes to telling a story. popcorn::

We also encountered a little bit of that “stealth tear gas” in a couple of sceans toward the end of the picture. But then again, we never laughed harder then when the gang discovered Buzz’s “Spanish Mode”. Ole!!! :lmao:
