Who's got big plans for the holiday weekend? I'm watchimg movies with the Bug tonight. Tomorrow, my parents and niece are coming over for brunch, then it's off to Crown Center to meet Clifford the Big Red Dog and play in the fountain. Sunday is a pool party at a friend's house, and Monday is for recovering from the pool party.

Tomorrow evening we are headed to Central Ohio to see the outdoor drama "Tecumseh!". I have wanted to do that for years but never had a chance. The kids got me tickets for father's day. Sunday I guess we will just hang our and relax...catch some fireworks...Monday..I am on call again Uuuugh!

Tomorrow is the first Saturday in about almost a year where Owen doesn't have soccer so it'll be a hang out on the couch and watching "Roar Like A Dinosaur" morning on Disney channel. Sunday we are having friends over to use our neighborhood pool then heading over to their place to grill and blow some stuff up. Monday is a work day for my guys since they support our stores that are open, they're the only ones out of IT department of 150 who have to work so i'll bring them some breakfast and hang out with them.

Sat & Sun I have to go to work (huge ice days:scared1:) then off to a BBQ each day. So far Mon is a 1/2 day of work, with nothing going on (that I know of yet)

I've been to 6 BBQ's this year so far (cuts my food bill way down:lmao:) but there is a reason for this. Sometime at each BBQ, my wife and I call it the kissing of the ring:lmao: To find out when my BBQ is:confused3. I've been throwing a Grand Daddy of BBQ's for 17years now, I usally have between 150-200 guests each year (not at the same time 1-6 is for those with kids, after 6 is everyone else but anyone is welcome to stay) We don't invite anyone we work with (it would be way too many people):scared1:

Some of the guests are a butcher, short order cook, retired and active police, a baker, one runs Frito Lay route, & a bartender (I have the bar:woohoo:) Everyone lends a hand & everyone gets along:goodvibes

Saturday...in my home town (Jonesborough) Parade for Corn Field Promotion...then Mr. Fender I feeding us that night.

Sunday...Church...then???

Monday...another Parade...this one in Kingsport, TN.

No big outings planed (we’re still recovering from DC). Saturday I have the first rehearsal for a new band a good friend of mine is putting together for the youth group at his church. Sunday I’m thinking of taking the family out to finally see TS3 (I’ll let you know if there using the same tear gas in our theaters that y’all encountered). For me Monday is a workday, so I’ll be back on my head (could be worse though… at least I still have folks that actually want me on my head).

Hope everyone out there in the DDS has a great weekend and a few moments of quite to reflect on the 4th, and how lucky we are to be here (even if we don’t all agree on every point). And one more shout-out to all our vets and those that are still serving and out there in harms way. Thanks!

The family's got big plans, but I'll be stuck in the office. About three too many cuts in our department have left us with a three-person staff trying to put out a daily sports section. Two of the three are off this weekend (one on vacation, the other taking personal days), so guess who is the lucky guy in the office all weekend? :rotfl:

Gonna try to spend at least Sunday morning and part of the afternoon at my parent's house, enjoying some quality family time and swimming with my two boys.

Do they have PED testing for crabs? I'd try working him into a cycle of anabolic steroids to see how fast he can really go. But don't forget the female fertility drugs to mask the excess testosterone. :rotfl2:

And then throw some sand into the fan to make it more realistic. Hmmmm....now where have I read that before?:confused3:confused3 (Sorry Tutter, I had to steal your Facebook comment. It just fit too nicely here.):thumbsup2

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
He's in the big leagues now. I think you should spring for the carbon fiber shell with the flame paint job.

Glad the crab racing is alive and well up north. Down here all we have are "redneck crabs" that aren't any good for racing, they keep turning left!

You should sneak him onto a Disney Cruise. They have hermit crab races on Castaway Cay. Blue Shark could sweep the prizes! :woohoo:

Wife went out today and got a what I call a crab condo for them, all it's missing ia a total gym:lmao: I figure he will probably easily have 5 or 6 crabs by the end of the summer:scared1: Right now he has 2 (Blue Shark & Eyeball, it's whats painted on the shell:lmao:)

I don't know any tricks to make them run, except misting them with water.

So what kind of prizes do they have at Castaway Cay, wife wants to go on a cruise, maybe I can find a few champs by then:lmao:

Home (and off:thumbsup2) with the DW and DS5/DS3. Parents and grandmother coming in Sat., and staying with us til Mon. Planning on smoking a pork shoulder Sat, grilling chicken and venison kabobs Sun. Otherwise going to relax and enjoy being home!:goodvibes

I have to work the night shift all weekend. Less than an hour left till I can get some shut eye. One down, two more to go. Off on Monday but will sleep part of the day since I get off at 6 in the morning.

We're grilling out....DW and DS are at my parents house in Charleston with my brothers and all the cousins---she's saying I owe her:lmao::lmao:

Proud to be :offtopic: with my 1000th post. No better forum than here.

This weekend we are going to catch some fireworks on Saturday night (our town always does the 3rd) and again on Sunday night in the next town over. Sunday we are also heading to our friends place for a BBQ. At some point I think we'll take the kids to the fair in town as well.

Hope everyone has a great 4th and enjoys their weekend!

Facebook has been fine for me, though Twitter has been giving me fits.

No problems at all with Facebook here. I even chatted with Fed for a while earlier this afternoon!

Did some shopping today and spent some time with our Navy son. He has news but I'm holding off posting it until it is officially official! ;)
Tomorrow: church and a cookout with Navy and our older son and his family.
Monday: a picnic with our family here at our house. It's supposed to be back up into the 90s starting tomorrow so we're going to start the picnic at 11:00 to try to beat some of the heat.

Have a happy and safe 4th fellow Dads!

I need some advice from the Dad's out there. I'm going to have an issue when my 8-year old daughter finds out tomorrow about the swim team. We belong to a local swim club and my daughter was trying to make the A-team for competitive swim meets - last year she only competed in the B events.

Last week, they had the time trials and she won her heat in both the Freestyle and Backstroke time-trials. All the parents sitting by the end of the pool, including me, congratulated her on winning those two events.:thumbsup2

An hour ago, the swim coach sent an E-mail with the lineups for this week's A-meet and my daughter's name was not listed. However, the girl who was in the lane next to her during the time-trials was listed as competing for the A team in both freestyle and backstroke events although my daughter beat her (and knows she did) in both events. I e-mailed the coach and he said, understandably, that he has to go by the timekeepers and admits they are not perfect. He says that she finished second in freestyle by 2 hundredths of a second (she actually won by half a body length) and had no comment on the backstroke. I am not going to make a bigger issue out of this with him, so my daughter will just compete in the B meet until the next time trial. He also said he is going to time her at the B meet to see if her times have improved (I have a feeling they will).

However, when my daughter finds out, she will be very upset. I must admit I am still annoyed. Anyone out there ever encounter a similar situation? What do you tell your daughter? She won the race fair and square and she knows it. I always encourage her to do her best and I'm proud of her because she did. Unfortunately, to put a not-so-fine point on it, she got screwed.

I'm probably going to tell her that the timekeepers made a mistake, but I'm not sure if that is the best thing to do.:confused3

Help.
