As far as "Despicable Me" .... I am not so sure about that one.[/I][/B][/COLOR]

It was the fart gun scene, it cracked me up :lmao:

I don't know if any other areas are doing this but the Marquee Cinema by my house is doing a Kids Summer Movie Series, every Tues & Wed for the next 8 weeks they are showing 2 movies each week for free:cool1: Today we saw Astro Boy.

The movies they are showing are not new releases, most are from last year, but for free it's a great way to stay cool and spend some time with the family:woohoo:

Similar here... DW took the kids this AM to the $1 Tues movie- Ice Age. Thay also had $1 popcorn and cokes. Kids loved it and it was much better than $50 a pop for the last few 3D movies:3dglasses(TS3, HowToTrainYourDragon,Up,...)

:woohoo:

I woke up at 5:30 b/c I was all excited to make my 180 day ADR's. I called at 6:00 on the nose (central time) and was told, "we're making updates to our system. Call back in an hour or so."

Really? You couldn't have fixed it yesterday when I didn't need you?
Disney fans (including me) are crazy, aren't we?

And, I don't remember being a grumpy teen, personally. And of the 3 boys, the 2 yr old will be the one staring at the 17 yr olds, I fear. :headache: And nugget isn't here yet, but she'll have a personality soon enough to give me gray hair, won't she?

I will be in about 10 more years (though The Bug seems to think it'll be more like next week) :scared:

Given The Bug's personality, I'm confident in her ability and willingness to take are of herself. When there was a bully giving her trouble at school earlier this year, and the school didn't seem to be making any headway dealing with it, she just walked up to the bully's mother in the carpool line and said (matter of factly), "Your daughter is a bully. You really should do something about that," and walked away.

She didn't have any trouble with that girl for the rest of the year. :rotfl:

:lmao::rotfl2: I like this kid! :thumbsup2

Anybody see the Sorcerer's Apprentice preview? And what did you think? Honestly, not real keen about the movie. I don't like "remaking" cartoon classics, especially something as treasured as Mickey Mouse.

I'm not really sold on it. Maybe a rental at best. You never know if you're going to get Fun Eccentric Nicolas Cage or Collecting A Paycheck Nicolas Cage.

I really want to see Inception. Not a huge DiCaprio fan, but I like Christopher Nolan (the director) quite a bit.

It was the fart gun scene, it cracked me up :lmao:

If there's one thing this group can appreciate, it's a good fart joke!

Hey guys - just stopping by to say hey. Got back from a great week at Summer Camp late Saturday afternoon... slept the rest of the day, and most of Sunday. Been crazy busy at work trying to get caught up again... and my laptop crashed. So working from home on our home pc and its not as easy to get stuff done with 4 others trying to get time on here too...

Way too many pages to read back through now... so hopefully everyone's doing well. I'll pop back in after I get my new laptop, hopefully by tomorrow or Friday.

Mine are 3 and 7, but we're rolling the dice on one table service/day for our October trip. I think the forced break in the AC will be good for us. We stuck to kid-friendly choices like dinners at Ohana and Akershaus - places where there's something to grab the kids' attention. But we did make one exception. After deciding that we didn't want to mess with the CRT breakfast after all (pretty much the same characters as Akershaus - which was scheduled for The Bug's birthday dinner, having to get up extra early and still probably missing rope drop, and putting a new toy sword in the hands of Squeaker at the start of the day), we swapped that for a dinner ADR at California Grill (and the observation deck view of the fireworks).

We did California Grill for dinner with our daughters last year, and the then 4-year old did a great job. IIRC, they had crayons available for pre-dinner activities. The then 2-year old was, of course, an incarnation of the Tasmanian Devil. But cute.

The character meals work a lot better, because there is a lot going on in those restaurants, all the time, to capture their attention. They don't have to go seek it out.

I commend your decision to keep the toy sword away in the morning. It's bad enough getting hit in the head with a wand.

Hey, I did post a question for you. A pal just got back, and said Fantasyland is being overhauled, and the toon town is going away? :confused3 I thought, if someone knew what was up, it's Stopher.

Then, I booked my ADR's:cool1:
Disney's Sprit of Aloha dinner :woohoo: Fantasmic! dinner package, Le Cellier for a (maybe 2) lunch(es), and Coral Reef for dinner on New Years Eve. Lots of others, too, thanks to the DxDDP. Whoever said this may be too much food: After making the reservations, and STILL having 4 credits left, i'm tending to agree with you. I can post an *actual* schedule, if you all want to pick it apart and tell me what i'm doing wrong :rolleyes1

DS is still a bit leery of the Characters.....so that's out:lmao::lmao:

We just find it easier, more flexible, at the moment to do CS....:goodvibes

On another not, if 2.5 miles of your 5 mile run is into a 30 mph head wind--is still only 5 miles?:confused3

That's why I had boys too! So I only have to worry about 2 boys, instead of having to worry about ALL the boys!

Ahh, the classic victim or perp discussion.

The only plus side to having a 17yo bikini clad daughter in Canada would be the fact she would only be bikini clad for 2 months of the year, the rest of the time it would be hidden under 2 sweaters and a parka!

Really good point. But, do they spend too much time indoors? You don't have any of those hot tub time machines up there, do you?

It was the fart gun scene, it cracked me up

Nothing better than a good fart joke.

Oh, I couldn't finish all my meals on the DXDP the last trip, so I told DW that we didn't need to do it again. She laughed and said we were. So, I added the DXDP for the October trip. We have CRT twice, HDDR, SOA Dinner, Artist Point, along with breakfasts at Ohana, Kona, WCC, Trail's End, and lunch at the Plaza one day. I can't wait to bring home another 20-30 Mickey Rice Krispie treats. They are even better when stored in the fridge.

Those things are like crack to me.

On another note, I'll be heading down close to your way in late August. DW and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary in early August, so we decided to take the family on a road trip to celebrate. During our two drives down to WDW, we were really impressed with the scenery in Kentucky and Tennessee, despite it being mostly dark when we drove through! We're spending a few days in Louisville, then down to Mammoth Cave and Bowling Green for a day. There's also a train museum that offers rides in New Haven that we're going to check out. Do you get over to those parts much? Can you recommend any good eatin' places or other things we should see?

While in Louisville (or in Cincinnati, if you're passing through there) you MUST get Graeter's Ice Cream. It is the most amazingly wonderful ice cream on the planet. Not only is the ice cream itself great, but many of their flavors are chocolate chip types. But they do the chocolate different from every other ice cream I've ever tried. They don't just mix in chips or pieces of chocolate. Instead, they pour liquid chocolate into the ice cream as it churns, so that the chocolate tempers with the ice cream. The result is the most velvety chocolate to ever find its way into ice cream.

Damn.

Just thinking about it has me seriously contemplating spending the $120 they charge to ship 12 pints from their store to my house (packed in a cooler with dry ice).

I was researching a trip through the same general area for next year. We definitely wanted to do Mammoth Cave, and the Louisville Slugger Museum/Factory in the city looks like a lot of fun. I think you can order a personalized bat at the beginning of the tour and they'll have it ready for you by the end. And Abraham Lincoln's birthplace (a National Historic Site, I think) is not too far from Mammoth Cave.

I'm sure AirGoofy can tell you much more than I can, but that's the stuff that caught my eye.

You had me at ice cream. It's now on the list!

We've got the Louisville Slugger Museum/Factory tour on the list, along with a Louisville Bats Minor League Baseball Game. As you cross the Ohio River into Louisville on I-65 the first thing you see is the stadium and downtown Louisville. It looks really nice.

Oh, and by the way. I'm totally stealing your "Map of the USA with the pushpins showing where our family has been". The idea that is, not your map. But I'm thinking about altering it to also include coloring string or yarn along the driving routes that we've taken.

Bats for everybody! I'm sure your kids and DW will make good use of them.

Cool, I've never had an idea anyone thought was worth stealing before. And I stole your cheese balls for the road trip idea, so it's all good. Truth be told, I'm pretty sure I stole the map idea from somebody else too.

Congrats. DW and I celebrate our 10th anniversary in September. It's Disney scary:scared1:

It has been 15 years since I lived in Louisville, and that was a lot of beer and brain cells ago. So, here's what I recommend:
Others mentionned the Louisville Slugger Museum and baseball stadium
Churchill Downs - not sure if they are racing, but you can take a behind the scenes tour to Millionaire's row and the track itself
Belle of Louisville - Cruise the Ohio on an actual Steamboat

Cheaper or free stuff:
Louisville Galleria and 4th steet live - Big mall and outdoor music/ party - ok for kids when the sun is out
Science Musuem and Zoo (Zoo has lions and elephants)
Belvedere (downtown)- riverfront and fountains

Dining
Brown Hotel - creator of the Hot Brown - the original hot, open face sandwich that many claim and duplicate
Sealbach - Fine dining - really expensive - may not want to try
Joe's Crab Shack - chain restaurant but good food

Mammoth Cave is really cool. When you get to Bowling Green, you can also tour the Corvette Musuem. They have BeachBend there as well (not sure if open then), that really is a collection of carnival rides and their waterpark is a pool with a water slide. I would avoid Beach Bend. There is also Holiday World and Splashin Safari located in Santa Claus, IN, about 2 hours west of Louisville and a 3 or 4 hour detour to Bowling Green. It is a nice theme park about 30 minutes North of me, but it is fun. It is some nice roller coasters and terrific water park. When in Bowling Green, Mariah's Restaurant downtown is really good and has been a landmark in Bowling Green. If you are looking for a hotel in Bowling Green, go to the Drury Inn. They have cheap rates, pool, free hot breakfast, free dinner appetizers, and $.50 alcohol drinks.

I'll have to get back to you on Louisville dining. I will ask some friends who still live there.

Congrats on your tenth anniversary, and may it just keep getting better (my wife and I are smack in between 19 & 20 years and I’d go back and do it all over again).

And for everyone who responded to your request for info, y’all have convinced me that I need to take an excursion out that way some time in the near. If for no other reason then just to try out that ice cream. We have some pretty good purveyors of finely chilled moo-juice down this way, but your description sounds irresistible. The train museum and a chance to cruise on the “Belle of Louisville” are also pretty enticing.

I’d like to add to the suggestions, but the closest I’ve been to Louisville is the greater Cincinnati and Dayton areas (if you’re up that way, the USAF Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton is a must). If any one ever finds them selves spending time in the Carolina’s for any wacky reason, holler out and I’ll try to help out then.

Ummm, you were out jogging? Did a cold front roll in? Did the convoy break down again? I think you get to add an extra mile for every 10 degrees above 90. Hope you had goggles.

Yeah, I was out jogging....one of those things ya know:confused3

I run at 1730 or so (530 pm) it's still a little hot (usually hovering around 105 or so), but I've gotten used to the heat now so not so bad...not nearly as bad as being out during the day in 110-120 in Armor and Equipment)...

Problem is the dust---I wear an old pair of Oakley Sunglasses to run in, or else you can't open your eyes when running into the wind--but even it hasn't been **too** bad (relative, I know:lmao:).......and the Western Scirrocco winds, it' was blowing 45mph and gusting to 65 last night and this morning.

I might be on the treadmill if it keeps up like this today, but the treadmill is sooooo boring:lmao:

And I was complaining the last two weeks with it being in the mid 90's while wearing my threat level 2 vest on at work. 110-120, man that's HOT!!!!
