Crud.

According to the DVC Resort Availability thread for Dec, the 2 bedroom Savanna view rooms are no longer available for our trip. Right now we're booked in a treehouse villa, which isn't bad, but we were hoping to get into AKV (we can't book "non-home" resorts until 7 months out - May 5 in our case) Bay Lake still has 2 bedroom lake view rooms, so we might try that and get on a wait list for AKV. :(

Did you call? Don't take the board as gospel. I've seen the same kind of thing before and called and found that there was something available. You might be okay Barry.

I didn't call yet. When I do call on the 5th, the first thing I'll ask for is AKV. If it is available, great. If not - we're working on contingency plans now. :thumbsup2

That stinks. But then again, Bay Lake or the Treehouses seem like a pretty nice alternative. That's not too terrible of a problem to have. As opposed to, say, kidney stones.

Ok - gotcha, I guess I'd forgotten your points aren't at AKV. You're SSR aren't you? It's all so clear now.

Exactly - the Treehouses are INCREDIBLE!!!! I loved staying there, and can't wait to do so again next year.

Yes, now that I reread my post it does sound a lot like saying "poor me, my wallet has too many $50s in it that I can't get it closed."

Yeah, we own at SSR. On any other trip I would love to stay there, but we won't have a car this time around. We don't to chance getting a treehouse that isn't within walking distance of SSR and having to wait for 2 different busses to go anywhere.

I agree with you there. Especially with your newbie friends along. We were fortunate enough to be pretty much right there by bus, boat and walkpath when we stayed - so there were no complaints, but I can totally see how some would complain if they were further in.

For some reason I was thinking you owned at AKV.

I hope I didn't rub you the wrong way. I didn't mean to cast you in a negative light--just wanted to put a positive spin on the dilemma, that's all. :hippie:

There is no way to rub me the wrong way. Any rub is good. In fact, if you rub my side in just the right spot, my leg involuntarily kicks, just like a dog. :dogdance:

Barry if you are at the tree houses ,it will be easy for us to meet up as so far we are at SSR and Dave is at OKW.Should be easy for us to meet up at DTD or something

I've got a couple of those piles too - both paper and electronic. NEED. TO. CATCH. UP.

After 4 months of preparation and collecting data & paperwork from the boys, yesterday was the day the Council's online planner for Summer Camp went live, and getting all 28 adult leaders and 75 Scouts registered and enrolled in all of their various Merit Badge courses took nearly 3 1/2 hours of my morning. The camp we go to (Ransburg) is the premier Scout camp in the midwest, with Troops from 5 states coming to it. They have 10 weeks of camp sessions, and each week hosts about 450-600 people between both Scouts & Adults. Ours is the single largest Troop contingent of any week during the season (the average Troop brings 12-16 boys and 3-5 Adults). So all in all - it was a good 3 1/2 hours. Summer Camp is a big deal with all of the myriad of details that have to be closely monitored. I love doing it, but it is labor intensive for a while.
Um, I worked for 4 summers at the S-F Scout Ranch (pronounced S Bar F) in Southern Missouri, and so I have to start the fight that S-F is the premeir scout camp in the miswest. i'm sure your camp is GREAT, but, i still have to start the fight. :stir:

Wow...talk about kickin' a guy when he's bent over...:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

So, 8 people make a grand gathering. Other than having Grand Gathering status, will getting ADR's be easier or harder? I guess i'm asking if I should call the grand gathering number first on my 180 day window, or the reservation phone #?

Go for it, if it will make you feel better. I know yours is great, but even still. Some of the amenities you have there really make it more like Club Med than summer camp. ;) I mean really, who needs water slides at summer camp? Go to WDW or the local amusement park if you want water slides. :rotfl: Seriously though, it looks like a nice camp. But even still, Troops coming in to central IN from 5 states doesn't lie...

I never got to go to Summer Camp as a Scout, so I can't compare what I know to anything else really. I just go by what I see and hear from the other campers who attend each year I've been there with my son (this year sons). I do know that the BSA has some truly amazing facilities and some bad facilities. This is right up there with the truly amazing facilities, as I'm sure your's is as well. I just can't wait to go to Philmont... our Troop missed out on getting our own contingent this year, but ended up being invited by a nearby Troop to bring a very small contingent, so my son wasn't one of them. Hopefully next year though.

WOW! Real slooooooooooooow day in here:snail::snail::snail:

It sure is....

On a side note...

My DW just booked a weekend trip to Florida in 4 weeks to visit her cousin and godson with our DD. So that means that I am going to be home alone for 3 days... should I go 'old school' and throw a huge party like I used to do when my parents went away? :lmao::lmao:

Has anyone seen this guy around recently?

Why Not! Why should they have all the fun. I know when my wife & son go to WDW in July, I'm going to have at least one boys night in the backyard:woohoo:

Hey if you win you can sock it for your next WDW trip:woohoo:

I'm going to stay away from AC (50 min trip) when they go away, I'd be able to fill my car up with friends to go with no problem, but after some of the trips we made there most likely we would get into some kind of trouble:scared1: they can be a quite unruley bunch:lmao: although we usally come out ahead$$$$$$$$
