Luray Caverns, eh? If only a fellow dad had recently traveled there and could offer tips... :rolleyes1

Yeah, right? Know anyone :confused3

Sounds Great, I'll let you know when we are going:thumbsup2

Did they take out all the Bud stuff & Clydesdales, heard anything that has to do with Bud was coming out:confused3

That's a good question. When we were there for the pass member preview day I forgot to look around for signs of Bud stuff being removed. I did notice they changed the stable area where the Clydesdales hung out for pictures. They had other horses there, but we zipped right on by the place. Next time we go I'll be sure to check this out. Hopefully they will have the new rides open soon.

We are headed to Hilton Head in June for a week. I have never been there before so I don't know what to expect....planning to try to go and eat at Paula Deans restraunt in Savannah while we are there...any one know anything aobut that if you have to have or need reservations???

In August we are going to go to Myrtle Beach...that seems to be an annual trek. I think I need to retire to an ocean someplace!!!

In July I would like to drive to the Columbus Ohio area and see the outdoor drama Tecumseh. Have wanted to do that for years but never had the chance to get it done!

DW and I have been down there several times, and yes we did get in to Paula's place. only really bad part of that is that you MUST HAVE a reservation and to get it you must be there at the side door of the building in person. I drove over to Savanna very early (07:30) and was still the third person in line for the reservations. then we drove out to the Marine base to watch my nephew graduate and all went there for supper. In Hilton Head we stay at the Holiday Inn on the ocean, nice place. right down in that area is our favorite Greek restaurant "Its Greek to Me II" is the name if you and yours like Greek cooking. Hilton Head is great for golfing, and good beaches all around.

I quoted this off the Paula Deen web site,

"Because y'all have made us so popular and to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to eat with us, we cannot accept reservations for parties smaller than ten persons most days of the year. We do however have a priority seating system and this is how it works:

Every day of the week, our hostess begins to take names at 9:30 am for lunch and dinner on a first come first served basis. Our hostess is located at the podium on Congress Street in front of the restaurant. You must appear in person to receive a priority seating time.

Sunday, as always, is buffet only and we are open from 11am until 5 pm.

The Lady & Sons gladly takes reservations for parties of ten or more. Reservations must be made by calling the restaurant at 912.233.2600. Reservations can not be made via email or through this site."

PS the second restaurant is Bubba's and belongs to Paula's brother. supposed to be great BBQ.

Holy cow it's a slow day in the DDC. The night shift is going to come in and think we abandoned the place. So let's talk summer vacation plans, Disney or otherwise.

We're usually season passholders at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg but we just haven't gotten around to it yet. Last year we went 4 times and I imagine we'll do that again this year. The big summer trip will be when the DW and I drop the kids off at the grandparents' lake house in upstate NY for a week so she and I can go to a camp and volunteer. We're long-time supporters of a ministry called Young Life that shares the gospel with teen-agers. The week we'll be up there will be geared specifically towards teen moms. We'll be taking care of the little kids while the moms get to enjoy the camp and be ministered to. Kind of a working vacation, but we're looking forward to it.

Very cool.

TBonz is my favorite place down there! Great steaks. We also really enjoy Ultimate California Pizza. And we tried a place at Barefoot Landing called Fire Island Grille last time. It was pretty good. The kids' meals were served using frisbees as the plates!

I am going to have to check out Fire Island Grille...I don't think I have ever seen it....we like Ultimate California Pizza also...it is pretty good and easy on the wallet compared to other places there ha ha

You got there at 730am and they did not start taking reservations until 930am? And you were the third person in line already at that time??? Sheeesh...what time do they runout of reservatoins for the day? Do youi just tell them what time you want to come back or do THEY TELL YOU?

The menu appears to have changed since I was there a few years ago. They seem to be trying to be more "upscale" in their choices. I had some kind of Caribbean pork sandwich that was pretty good, but it doesn't look like it's on the menu anymore.

we needed to eat fairly late so I had kind of my pick of times, there is a little coffee shop right across the street from the Res. booth. kick is it's not a "reservation" it's "preferred seating. you can try to walk up but most folks we asked told us that it almost never works :confused3 :confused3 :confused3
and Ya when we got there the place was jammed.

If it is not a reservations...How does the preferred seating work????

I spent some time in the ER this morning. Turns out it was kidney stones. Feels like someone put you in a giant vice grip and just keeps turning. I posted it on Facebook, and one of my female friends replies with this:
I had one when I was pregnant with Gabby...and I would so pick labor ANY DAY! That kidney stone was absolutely the most horrible pain I've ever had. WORSE than delivering my 9 pound son with no drugs. Yes, worse.

And yet DW still called me a wuss. :confused3:confused3:rotfl:

Ouch! Now I understand the comment made on my TR! Glad you are feeling better! Never had to experience that pain.... and hope I never do!

When I had mine last Labor Day...it hit me so fast and out of no where. I thought if I could go lay down it would be ok...WRONG!!! So we decided to go to the ER and she drove...stopping at the redlights and everything!!! It was the longest 10 minute drive of my life. By the time we arrived at the door of the ER I was in the floorboard of the car wrything in pain...and she looks at me and says...."I will just drop you off here and while you are registering I will find a place to park"...I looked at her like....Seriously???!! So, I got out of the car like I was instructed to and then went to the triage desk and by that time I was sweating terribly and they looked at me and said...what is your trouble today...and I said..."I think I am going to pass out!" They immediatly took me backand gave me dilaudid....ahhhh.....

I feel for you Barry....I have taken care of men for years doing xrays on them when they had Kidney stones and never had a true appreciation for the pain until Labor Day 2009!

Kidney stones are evil! Glad you're feeling better Barry.

Today would be a lot of fun if it wasn't such a PITA to get video copied around here. As soon as this video is copied (with the confidential informer's appearance edited out) I get to send opposing counsel a really fun video. It shows the witness - whose statement opposing counsel just sent me as "evidence" that this willful citation should be dismissed - saying on camera exactly the opposite of what he wrote in his statement. There's also direct video evidence that the site conditions are not what he claims they are in his statement.

Why do these idiots insist on behaving this way? These guys have been cited for trench-protection violations about every 18 months for the last decade. Are they waiting until they kill someone before they bother to comply with the protection regulations?

OUCH! Sorry you had to go through that. Hope you are feeling better and get some rest. {insert man to man friendly hug smilie here}

:scared: Man, that stinks! Sorry you had to suffer through that, and I hope you're feeling better soon!

For many DDC members out there... you may now have a sense of closure. It's official... Emma's Dad has finished his TR! :woohoo::woohoo:

Holy cow it's a slow day in the DDC. The night shift is going to come in and think we abandoned the place. So let's talk summer vacation plans, Disney or otherwise.

The summer vacation plan is an adults-only trip to WDW in July. This is in addition to the whole-family trip next month. And different from the Autumn vacation for Food and Wine that is a possibility. Hey, I am maxed out on annual leave and can't accrue any more until I take some vacation. I have to spend it somewhere....
