So I have been catching up on the posts and have a question? What is the best helicopter for chasing the cats? I have been considering buying one for my son :rolleyes1 and want to get "him" one that is fairly easy to use.

Not sure about an "easy" one to fly... they are all pretty challenging whe you first get them. We got DD (just turned 7) this:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10086710

It's easy to fly, but you have very little control of the thing.

For me... I got this helicopter from a friend... it is one bad indoor helicopter. I use it to chase the cats all the time :rolleyes1

And here is an interesting YouTube video of the Lama V3 and a kitty... haha:

And here is what it can really do:

Happy New Years guys! I'm a Northwestern guy and I was all excited to watch the Outback bowl this morning.

I prefer NFL to college, but always enjoy the bowl games on New Year's Day. All of the Bowl Games were good yesterday except for the Sugar Bowl. I like the current, non-playoff system, and all the bowl games. I just would prefer they played all the major ones this weekend. I don't like the Orange, Fiesta, and Championship staggered out at one per night.

Get everything out of the way the 1st day, hopefully you will have smooth sailing the rest of the year:confused3

I sure hope so! We can't handle stuff like that every day. :sad2:

Oh man, that sucks.

Admit it you - you were all thinking it too, and I just was the first one to say it!:rotfl2:

:laughing::laughing:  It almost blew. :lmao:

Well,

I've learned something over these last seven days.

I learned why my son screamed his fool head off the whole time he had ear infections as an infant. I just got blasted by one that came on the day after Christmas...holy cow, had to go back for another antibiotic b/c the first didn't work. 4 days of 102 degree fever...plus the 4 hour drive home on Tuesday (was supposed to be Monday, but I was NOT going anywhere). It hurt beyond belief, heck they finally gave me Darvocet the other day....

Oh man, I can only imagine how my little guy felt (he kept an ear infection for about a month when he was a baby)...

First one I've ever had (mom says I never had one as a baby).......I hope I NEVER have that again!!!

I knew I was in trouble when 15 minutes after my last post here, I was in the porch swing with my son and started to get motion sickness---and I DO NOT get motion sickness!!

Anyway

HAPPY NEW YEAR....Late:headache:

Yuck! I've had several ear infections over the past few years. I head for the doc as soon as I feel it coming on. I'm prone to sinus problems with my allergies and all. Glad you're feeling better. :thumbsup2

That sounds like a cool toy... does it have image stabilizer for all those bumps?

Thanks for checking in! Have a Happy New Year!!

Not sure, good question......I'll keep all the dis Dad's up to speed. Some want videos of me eating the turf. I will post them when I make them.

DisFed: I hope that you are feeling better now. That sucks about the ear infection.

itJeff: Sorry about the first day of the year. Just think nowhere to go but up... right?

Thanks! It wasn't really all that bad. We had quite a few laughs about the whole thing.... afterwards. :thumbsup2

Hog jowl is the really fatty pieces from the cheek bone area of the pig. It looks like bacon, but has a little different texture and taste. You fry it up, but have to be careful b/c it pops a lot in the grease. It's part of the New Year's tradition that I grew up with.

Hot water cornbread is cornbread that's made with hot water. really. :lmao:
You mix white cornmeal and salt then boil some water and mix it in the meal. You use your hands to form small patties that you fry. :thumbsup2 It's great. Fried bread, what could be better? It's part of the New Year's traditiion that DW grew up with. Black eyed peas are apparently the common thread. :goodvibes

It was at noon 'thirty. But there's lots of leftovers, head on over! :rotfl2:

This has been an interesting day. We discovered a gas leak in the backyard. I smashed my finger in a folding chair. DW broke her new soap dispenser in the kitchen. And our vaccum almost blew up.

 All in all your standard New Year's holdiay celebration. :rotfl:

Well, I can honeslty say I would like to try the boiled corn bread....I'd have to see the hog jowls before i committed to tryingthat ha ha. I just have this whole Granny Clampett thing in my mind. We have a tradition of eating cabbage on new years...supposed to bring properity for the new year. The only way I can eat cabbage is in cole slaw. I cant get passed the smell of cooked cabbage to try it....speaking of smells...were you the one leaking gas in the backyard?

Geez Fed...I wondered where you had been for the last few days. Hope your feeling better. I have only had 1 ear infection in my life and don't want any more. Ethan on the other hand has had them off and on his whole life and has had to have tubes in his ears twice and possibly a third time if they dont ease up this winter.

Hope you feel better, ear infections are no fun at all, I've had my share of them, stay on top of the meds and hopefully it goes away, go back to the Doc for a follow up you don't want it to come back.

My wife made me stop at BBQ place on the way home from work New Years Eve to pick up fried pickles and a onion loaf.

Very interesting how different areas of the country has a type of food that they eat on New Years. Here I just thought everyone had to eat cabbage :rotfl2:

I've heard of the cabbage thing. If I remember right, a lady I work with grew up in Tennessee and told me that's what they grew up with.

It was actually because of our dumb dog that we had the gas leak.... so I can't take credit for that one. :cool2::thumbsup2

If you had said this when we weren't discussing New Years food traditions, I would have asked if your wife was expecting! :lmao:

Here's a pic of hog jowls that haven't been cooked yet. Just imagine it a little more brown.

She got hooked on the pickles in VA. at Busch Gardens, and the onion loaf is like a blooming onion at the Outback but served up southern style. 150% sure not expecting.

For us, it has always been pork and sauerkraut. I love pork but hate the sauerkraut!

That blows, hope things are clear sailing from here. It's amazing what kids go through that would cripple us, my son had his first ear infection last month and by the time he actually told us his ears hurt the doctor said any adult would be rolling on the floor.

Glad you're feeling better, now get out there and catch some fish!

Happy New Year to everyone!

I've had to work the last few days so I'm just checking in!

DID someone mention bacon? MMMMmmmmm

Well greetings fellow Dads. I am new to the forums, and making my way on getting situated and finding my way around!

Funny, I usually blame the dog for gas leaks too. Unfortunately it doesn't work when you don't have a dog.
