Barely enough time in a day for work and play....
Hey Pennsylvania Dad's...what do you know about Hershey Park?
The Corn Maze owner's family was talking about going there next summer and invited us.
Hello fellow dads,
I just found this thread as now I can finally tell my wife that I not the only Disney-obsessed dad. I'm just starting in the 40th decade along with my wife and my son and daughter. We've try to take them every year to Disney at least once, but now as they are older, want to also take them elsewhere too (read Paris, Hong Kong and Tokyo) They seem to be into it as I am, but more after the trip starts...the planning phase, that's all me. Wife thinks I'm nuts, but it keeps me out of trouble. Planning the first trip to Disney with friends so that has taken on a whole new dimension. Can't wait until march when we'll be back. Now to go back and try to read the whole thread.![]()

40! I can't remember 50! Anyway, it's my B-Day Sunday and my DW asked what I want. I gave her my standard "Nothing" answer but, after being pressed for something realistic, I then said, "A Disney Vacation Club membership!" Her reply, "We're just not on the same page when it comes to Disney." That's why our next trip isn't going to be for a few years, at least. Thank goodness we're hoping to take our DGS when he's 4. Only 3 1/2 years to wait! So, I told her what I really would like would be for the whole family to take a hike with Dad/PopPop around Merrill Creek so I can do a geocache over there. That probably won't happen either because two of the grandkids are too young but it would be nice. I guess I'd better think of something else quick!

Add me to the list. My wife had to twist my arm for years to get me to go to WDW. I used to live in Orlando back in the early '90s, and took my sisters to "the parks" once when they visited. I always figured "been there, done that." Oh, and "everything's fake, anyway."
But when my wife finally insisted that we take our son back in 2007 (even threatening to go without me), I agreed and planned the trip. I picked up a copy of the Unofficial Guide before we went, and planned the heck out of the trip. It was the best vacation we've ever had. There was something completely different about seeing Disney through my son's eyes. We extended a day, even though we had to switch resorts. Before we left, I vowed that we'd be back.
We went back exactly two years later, and had an equally great trip.
Now we have another trip planned less than six months later. (We had been talking about a cruise someday, and the "Kids Sail Free" promotion was the trigger. And of course, if we're going to be there anyway, we may as well stay at WDW for a few days...on both ends of the cruise).
So all in all...I really love WDW, and so does my family. My wife laughs at the memory of having to twist my arm to go that first time.
A few more Canadians on here and we can start talking curling![]()
When we hit 400 members we should charge for membership.... say... ummmm... like a round of beers or something!![]()

Good lord, thank goodness I got in on the ground floor! A round of beers for all of us? A little pricey! I would gladly be a beneficiary though!

Since the shipping on 399 beers is likely to be quite pricey I will volunteer to store the beer at my place and anyone on the East coast can pick it up the next time they head down to the parks.
LOLOL
NC ain't that that close to WDW though. I'll hold onto it up here in CT.. it will stay colder!![]()
