Changing sports here...but last night I was watching the Titans @ Steelers.

Only comment my wife had was about Troy Polamalu...said he had pretty hair. :lmao:

Shortly after that they played Troy's Head & Shoulders commercial. :rotfl2:

I am so glad the NFL is back. I was only able to watch the 1st half of last night's game but it was good. The Titans had their chance - hard to kick field goals in Pittsburgh.

Don't forget Aloha Isle at the MK and Capt. Cook's at the Poly...DOLE WHIP is my true love.

Ummmm Do you go for the Whip or the Float? I am a float type of guy!

Pitt is hard to watch sometimes.... and last night was one of those times!:rotfl:

:lmao: i remember taking dw to her first flyers game. i grew up watching bobby clarke, bill barber and bernie. she didnt want to go. i tried my best to explain off sides, icing, the basic calls that stop play. we get into the spectrum,we sit down, i explain the lines, etc. she could care less.she watched warm ups, she almost got hit by a puck, she never saw it coming. the game starts, by the end of the 1st period, the guys behind us were telling her to sit down lady!!! oh,she was hooked. yelling, screaming at the refs!!! she said this is great, its nothing like tv.:lmao:

Love the hockey talk. I'm a former Canuck living in the Chicago area. About 10 years ago I took my DW to her first hockey game. It was Chicago vs. Dallas and we had great seats. (2nd last row in 100s level about 10 rows off the glass)

Well, right before the game started there were a bunch of kids lining up behind us. Well, DW turns around and asks me who is that guy sitting behind us? I look, then I point to the #9 hanging from the rafters and said, that's who. Bobby Hull was there to watch his son Brett play. Well, for almost the entire first period, I got to talk hockey with the Golden Jet. Unfortunately DW didn't enjoy the game too much, but she was excited to see me talk with one of the greats.

Wow! A close encounter of a hockey great kind! My closest encounter is probably with our local hero, Larry Holmes! I did see Frank Zappa in O'Hare Airport, along with Flo and Eddie (formerly of the Turtles), as I was waiting for my flight after graduating boot camp. That was in 1971 and the Mothers of Invention were doing a concert in Chicago that weekend. I said to the guy with me, "That's Frank Zappa!" He said, "Who's that?" I couldn't believe he had never heard of him. Frank took one look at us and vanished into a shop. I should have chased him down for an autograph but I didn't. He was actually dressed in a suit and tie! I guess you have to be at least 55 or so to appreciate that story! :lmao:
I also got some Mets autographs back in the 60's: Cleon Jones, Tommie Davis, Fat Jack Fisher, Tom Seaver, Buddy Harrelson, etc. Of course, I lost Tom Seaver's!

Hey, we have 22 days to go!

I have sero Hockey knowledge and very little experience viewing it. We used to have a semi pro team here in the East Coast Hockey League. They were called the Huntington Blizzard. Well, Shari and I decided to go see a game and see what all the hype was about. It was very exciting with the fights and all...I had no idea how exciting it was about to get....A puck came flying off the ice and you guessed it...beaned Shari right in the head. It bounced off and some kid got it...She was stunned. I was scared :scared1: needless to say...The team franchise was soon sold and moved...that gilr of mine has some power to do that....:rolleyes1

Wowzers! That must have really, really hurt! I've seen one hockey game and it was a Western Hockey League game back in 1973 or so. I was a Maple Leafs fan as a kid but I don't watch it at all anymore. I think my sons might watch it and I know our Navy son saw at least one game in Washington, DC.

It looks like Marshall didn't fare too well today. Penn State beat my bro's alma mater.

You're still 3 days ahead of us!

I must confess - never had a Dole Whip or a Float. But, I have read where it is, and this year, I will try one (or both). 34 days to go!

AAAHHHHH! I can't PM until I have 10 posts. I'll be at SSR from September 18th to 28th.

Mijo: Cool about the Zappa close encounter. The concern about asking for his autograph is what he might have used for a medium to "sign" with.

Herd: Sorry that your experience with hockey was a little too first hand. :headache:

Trennr / AirGoofy: I also have not ever tried the Dole Whip / Dole Float. Definately will attempt this trip. :drinking1

55 Days to go till we laeve for WDW.

Also we just got back from Disney on Ice and we told the kids today about our trip. Of course my DD6 response was, "Yay! I want a plane." Apparently the idea of the drive is not exciting her.

Disney on Ice was pretty good. A lot of different movies represented, and an appearance by IASW. I love that song. :thumbsup2

Congrats to all of you who are heading down soon! I hope that you have an awesome time! :thumbsup2

My parents left on the Magic today for seven nights. This will be their 3rd Disney Cruise and the first without any of the rest of the family. They tried a Carnival Cruise last year to save some $$$ but came running back to Disney!

In other news, DW said that if her business keeps doing well that she will pay for a trip to WDW next year! :woohoo::woohoo:

I haven't had a whip or float either.....:confused::confused:

Too enthralled with "Mickey Ears"...the "premium" bar with mickey head vanilla ice cream covered with hard rich chocolatey goodness--:rolleyes1

I need to stop, I'm just torturing myself...:rotfl:
