Ok...I've read enough and I proudly feel that I meet the criteria to become a member of the Dis Dad Club. DWprincess: 35, DDprincess: 6, DDprincess: 2. I have taken it upon myself to plan our next trip for June 2010. Usually a DW thing, but I think I can handle it(without her knowing). HELP!!:scared1::eek: Planning on staying at CBR (kids love the pool) for 7 days. Need to know what kind of "special" things to try to plan. We were there 5/08 and did a lot but still need to impress 3 girls:love: Little help please. Thanks

First, welcome to the club!

We stayed at CBR earlier this year. The pool was the highlight of the entire trip for my DD4. In fact, she seemed to prefer it over the parks! I don't know if it was renovated when you went last year, but it's really cool now - they have a little kids water area as well as 2 slides for the bigger kids now. As for planning something special, I think just surprising them with a visit will be enough! I don't know what things to specifically do at CBR...perhaps renting one of those family bikes would be fun (they are only open certain hours so check on that early - we didn't get to do it). Sorry, I guess I'm not much help!

Well fellas, I been through a lot emotionally recently and needed somewhere to vent really. My Dad, has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and will be going in for surgery on Wednesday morning. We are still not sure if it is cancer yet, that will be determined after the procedure. He just turned 70 and is healhty as a horse otherwise. My mom is taking it hard and I feel I need to be strong for everyone, but it is a very difficult task. I'm not really sure why I am posting this here on a Disney site, but I thought all of us being Dad's you could relate. I guess I just needed to get it off my chest.

Thoughts and prayers for my Dad would be appreciated.

Thanks

Good luck to your Dad tommorrow. Your Dad and you will be in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless.

Some of you guys asked me about some pictures from my "adopted country"....:lmao::lmao:

I haven't had a chance to get out and take that many, since I'm still used to me being the boss---and having less time to go out and goof off (not that I ever did that sort of thing...:rolleyes1)

Anyway, I came across some old one's from 2006 and 2008---

I honestly didn't think I'd survive the 2006 deployment, it was when it was really "hot" over here (literally and figuratively) and the fighting was very intense and very heavy. Even though I'm a civilian Federal Agent, I was assigned to Special Operations Command (SOCOM) Combined Special Operations Task Force (CJSOTF) in Al Anbar (Ramadi, Fallujah), so I'll let you use your imagination from there--Needless to say, I was very glad to get home!!! Oh yeah, I lived in a tent with 6 other guys (though we had our own little space built out of plywood and 2 x4's. We worked at night, and slept all day. And even though our tent had a/c, the Iraqi heat overpowered the A/C and we saw 130 on our thermometer INSIDE THE TENT on numerous occasions--that sucked!!

I got to Basrah in 2008 just in time for the Mahdi Army to try and take over the city--lucky me--but at least that didn't last long. At that time, I was assigned to train and assist the Iraqi Police Investigation Squad, but that went south in a hurry....so I did "other things" before going home...

Right now, I'm a Supervisor for my Agency out at Al Asad Airbase, and I have nice living conditions, a nice office and it's so much easier...

Here's some pics from previous deployments...more to come on this deployment later!!!

Just outside the Fallujah Train Station Prior to a Raid---nice place, Google it:sad2:

A few recommendations of things to do (in no particular order):

1. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for the 6 y/o. I can't wait till my DD 17mos princess: is old enough for me to take her.
2. Take the "girls" to Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian Garden View Lounge (2pm-4:30pm)
3. Breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table or the Princess Storybook Breakfast at Akershus in Epcot's Norway. I prefer Akershus, but would recommend CRT if you've never done it since it is in THE castle!
4. Cinderella's Gala Feast at 1900PF (dinner). You and your DW will enjoy the antics as much (or more) than your princess:princess:'s
5. One really nice dinner for the DW at Epcot (Le Celier, Chef's de France or Tutto Italia come to mind).

Good luck with the planning.

Har de har har...

The AK was nice, I had a Czech one that was in decent shape (of course, I made it that way) so it worked out...I still find the AK to be an inferior weapon, but that's just me--most people would call me crazy, but I've worked on and carried both...gimme an AR 15 (or M16 or M4--or in my case a Mk18) any day..

I still have nightmares about that darn tent:scared1::scared1:

It must have been quite a date, she looks like she wants a kiss...

First off, let me thank you all for all the kind thoughts and words. I will keep you all posted. I have talked to my Dad and have always had a great and open relationship. Being able to express my thoughts in a forum like this where I know that all of you would be nothing less than awesome is very comforting, thanks again. To all the new members :welcome: , you have found a great group of guys.

DisneyFed, awesome pics, can't wait to see more from this deployment, stay safe out there.

It's fine by us - let it out. There are many treatment options out there, and with him being healthy, he may be a candidate for many.

Welcome and glad to have you! I have two DDs (7,5). I think the definites are CRT at MK and Akershus at Epcot. They get all the princesses and I think the breakfast meals are the best. CBR is a great resort - water playground at the main pool - so be sure to plan some resort time.

I'm not sure if I have joined the Dis Dad's club, but count me as another Dis Dad. My DD has grown up visiting WDW. And now my two StepDD's are learning to love WDW as well.
