The Difference between the Yacht Club and Beach Club

DH and I are thinking of staying in either the Yacht Club or Beach Club in December 2005 - what is the difference between the two?

Have only stayed at YC, although we spent some time at BC, as well.

The ambience is the obvious difference. BC is very casual beach style, with lighter, brighter colors. YC has a deeper, richer colour palette a slightly more elegant feel in the public rooms. Children are children at both resorts, so don't worry that YC is stuffy!

The only reason we selected YC over BC was all rooms (above the first floor) have a balcony. My friend wanted to have morning coffee and evening wine on the balcony, and not all BC rooms have them. Nor will they guarantee requests for them.

We stayed at the Beach club in May. We had a wonderful time and really liked the resort. The lobby was VERY busy all the time. All of the seats were always filled with people waiting to get into Cape May. "Loud" would be a good word to describe it. We walked over to the YC-heaven! Wow! This place was much more impressive. I booked the BC because it was close to Epcot. That was silly, since it takes about two minutes to walk the length of the two hotels. If we went again, no contest. The YC just had a more relaxing feel to it.

The main differences are colors/decor and the fact that YC - all room rooms have a patio or balcony. At BC, most of the rooms have standing room only platform balcony's (enough for 1 person to stand on). You can get a full size balcony or patio at BC but they are few and far between. Also, BC is slightly closer to Epcot making it a little shorter distance if you prefer to walk.

Both are wonderful resorts though

I personally like the YC over the BC. I love the rich warm feeling of the YC lobby, it just reminds me of New England. I also like their gift shop better, can you tell I am a shopper? I really like the fact that you have a better chance of getting a balcony at the YC. I enjoy sitting out on the balcony watching the world go by or reading a book and having a soda. I just find the YC to be more relaxing in feel and more grown up in style.

We're booked @ the BC the end of August. I'm second guessing myself now after reading the posts about the balcony. We've stayed at the BC twice before and each time had a balcony and a daybed. I had heard there was construction going on @ the YC so I stuck w/ the BC. Hhmmmm!
