I agree SOTM. It would seem closing the debate board may have the affect of eventually reducing the membership and traffic of the Disboards. I for one went to many other boards on the Dis after visiting the DB. I'll be less inclined now to visit the DB unless I have some specific information I am looking for, and then only when close to booking a vacation. It may also have an impact on your sponsors.

I for one will miss the "old" DB. debates on the DB used to be interesting. some of the threads lately have just been outrageous. sigh.

Just got the news, and don't really know what to say. It's going to be interesting for sure. Have to admit I am feeling somewhat guilty. For as much as I climbed up on a soapbox and pleaded with people to play nice, I let certain posters get to me. I have always had a problem with people who accuse me of lying, and when that happened on the DB, I often responded in ways I would later regret.

ITA Dmadman and SOTM you guys had some good debates and never did I find them out of line or offensive. I have tried to debate with Dmadman ona few things mind you my sills are not up to par but I still discussed things with him and it may have gotten heated but never did we resort to name calleing etc. Now JJ/VH that was a different story but you can't paint all DBers with a wide stroke due to a small minority of the posters on the board that is discrimination but we will leave that for another topic.

I'm right along with you on that one DSNY FN. There was more than one time when I was stump by someone and had to play dumb and not respond, but I loved reading the posts and learning from everyone....even JJ/VH.

Hey, DSNY FN, back at ya! I, too, admired and respected your insights and input.

And, SOTM, despite our recent "argument", (for which I apologize, since I can't on the DB), you too, have some very incredible insights. I didn't agree with a number of them, but indeed respected them.

I think all of us on the DB, while we may have had heated discussions (I look at them as baseball brawl's - lot of pushing and shoving, but no one really getting hurt usually, and in the end we respected each other as opponents and wished no one ill will), I think we all, deep down, respected each other (with some exceptions, granted), and I'm sure if we all every got together over drinks at some Pleasure Island bar we would all enjoy each other's company and leave as friends and admirers.

ITA Dmadman it was great discussing things with you I really liked the dowloading MP3s one and the current one not to sure if you were in on it to much yet it was posted by Toto2 about your liberal neighbours. I think I want to ressurect that post over here what do you guys think. Oh btw if we are at WDW when you are Dmadman I would love to go for a few beers at PI with you. I will wear some proud to be Canadian shirt so you can't miss me hehehe.

I had a countdown timer Nebsky but the mods took all my stuff away because they thought I wasn't playing nice or something hehe no worries I will put it all back later and see what happens then. I would be honourd to meet you guys for a few cold ones bring a wheelbarrow though so I can get back to my room. Ok, I just don't get it. This is Pete's board. He can do what he wants. Be glad its here. If you want to go crazy on the debates then find somewhere else to go.
I love this board. I spend sometimes over 4 hours a days on here. I love the fellowship and companionship I get when I come here. This place is a real phenomenon!!! I feel like I "know" some of these people and I feel like I have real friends on here. People I may never meet have touched my life, given me advice on my kids and taken my advice on their pets, showed me their garden and remodeling photos, let me watch their children grow, made me actually look forward to that next picture and feel joy for them.
I came here looking for Disney advice. What I found was so much more. Here is a group of people just like me! Everyone loves Disney like I do. Noone here is going to shake their heads and look at me like I'm crazy when I talk about planning my 5th Disney trip this year. You feel me, you know what I'm thinking. Most people I know in the real world have only been to Disney once if any at all, and most can't carry on a conversation with me about it. I love Disney and here I feel like I have people who can understand and relate to me.
So, what if we want to start talking about "soccer mom" fluff. It's this kind of stuff that brings us closer together.
