ok I'm back on page 141 but I just noticed Kate's new signature announcement about the number of designs she has on the go.

Kate - I am in awe at your generosity that you will spend so much of your time spreading pixie dust for others. It started me thinking that maybe you could ask people to pay it forward by making a small donation to charity? There is a website http://www.justgiving.com/ where you set up a webpage about your chosen charity and then you put the link in your sig and people go and write a note and donate however much they want to. Then you can see how much is being raised - and the money is sent to your charity.

You could choose one close to your heart - or even the make a wish foundation which would be apt. People could of course donate at the foundation site - but using the other kind of site allows you to see how much money has been raised through your efforts.

Just a thought - but since you are being so generous I thought it would be a great way to rasie money for charity at the same time... in fact all of us DDAers who make designs could do the same thing?

What does everyone think?

that's a great idea!!

Can my Kids Disney Fund be my favorite Charity?!?!? :teeth:

I have one in mind - my husband sits on the board of a local charity that goes into high schools to educate high school students about adoption. There are birth parents, adoptive parents & adoptees who go in an discuss their experiences with the students. The goal is to teach them that if they ever get pregnant or one of their friends does that this is another option available to them.

I will talk to my husband about setting up a page for them

Kristine -- have a great trip to see the youngest addition! Take lots of pictures and be sure to show us a new picture of him -- they change so quickly....

Kate - I thought this was a great idea when Clare suggested it - my only concern, can there be any trouble from this? Could the Disney people construe this as payment? I would hate for you to have problems because all you are doing is being nice! Let me know when something is set up...I'd like to help out.

I will discuss it with my DH Marti - we had kicked this idea around in the past and he seemed to think it was okay - but I absolutley do not want to get in any trouble with Disney

hey Disney if you are reading these boards - I am available for hire!!!!!!!

I'll be 40 Monday and seem to be getting closer to a meltdown, DH has arranged a 'surprise' party for me on Saturday at the clubhouse, he just cannot keep a secret!!! :rotfl2: althought I'm trying hard to keep it from everyone else that I know about it.

Let me know how it goes! I'm kind of dreading it next year, which makes going to WDW a much better alternative. DH knows that he won't have to spring for a party if he takes me to WDW.

The ART is great. They only charge for adults, kids(under a certain age) ride free. We actually prefered this to driving to Mickey parking lot. We always ended up the farthest away from the elevator, then had to wait for tram and walk from the dropoff to DL. My kids didn't like all the walking back in the evening after they were tired out. One night we waited in line 15-20 min. to get a tram. The ART drops you right off near the ticket counters. I timed it and we were quicker using the trolley as opposed to fiddling with parking. And it was $6 for ART for both of us and $10 parking so cheaper per day. :scratchin

We never dealt with ART. We simply stayed at Best Western Park Place Inn or Park Vue Inn. Both are directly across from DL's entrance. It's literally a 5 minute walk from the door of your room to the line at DL. Works for us with our little ones.

Bummer.... unless I decide to go down in September- I'm gonna have to think about this now!

That is a factor if you are set on Blue Bayou or POC. I'd check DL's website and see if they have any dates set up for the closure and re-opening. DH and I are going in June, and we just are telling ourselves if it's open when we're there, great, if not, we'll eat somewhere else.

September is a great time to go to DL. We usually travel on Labor Day and then start our park days the day after LD. There is usually NO ONE there. Lines are pretty much non-existant. Of course, with the 50th celebration going on, crowds have been higher even in the off-season. We were there last September, and we could see that there were lots more people than we are used to, it never really felt crowded until the Fireworks.

Hi, Amy. Nice to see you are feeling up to teasing the Queen!

Girls solid color t-shirts are on sale at Old Navy for $2.99 each. I'm getting some for BK for this December (yes, I am planning already!). Got lime green, a berry red, hot pink, and black in her size (small). Shipping is $5. Boys shirts are $5 each (the ringer style and solid colors). Oh, just looked. Some of the ringer and solid are in girl colors (pink, purple). Not as good as deal, but I may go ahead and stock up for our December trip.

I would GLADLY donate money in Kate's name or to her favorite charity. I, too, am blown away by the generosity she has shown. I think it's a great idea, Clare, and I would support it!

Maybe I should check out my heritage - I'm such a fair weather person - I am always happy when the sun is shining - but on gloomy days I feel gloomy. Even when I was in Disney we had a really awfully gloomy day and I was so cranky it was awful! Not good to be in England in January... I need some :sunny:

I have a simple solution for you, Clare. Move by me in Utah. We have very few gloomy days. Of course, I'm kidding! It would be cool to have you here, though!

Good morning/afternoon, DDA'ers! :flower:

I'm trying to catch up and work at the same time - you guys had a bit of a posting party last night!

Me - we went to see Jim Brickman last night. If you like him, or just piano music, I highly recommend you see him in concert! He was FABULOUS! We were actually supposed to see him in early December for more of a Christmas concert, but wouldn't you know it, that night we had an ice storm in the Dallas metroplex! And since we're in Texas and wimps when it comes to winter weather, there was no way we were traipsing across town. However, the great part - since over 75% of the audience wasn't able to make it that night, he just said - "I'll come back" - and they honored all of our old tickets - so we still got to see him 5th row center!

Whew! Just over 20 pages in 2 days... not too bad. :goodvibes

I'm here. I'm in a rotten mood. But I figure I better share my trip (and my news that is not all that great ;)) before I forget it all!

We started out driving to Long Island. Well, we stopped in PA but that was uneventful. Long Island is NOT what I expected. At the risk of coming across wrong, I'll leave it at a minimum, but I was quite surprised. I knew it was expensive, I was prepared for that. But I was NOT prepared for what you get for the amount of money you spend. I assumed the whole island (which is GIGANTIC, by the way!) would be beautiful new developments, and that's why it's expensive. Not so much. For $350,000 we could buy a 2 BR condo that's about 20 years old :scared1: Kyle and I can't justify that when we can get a 3-5BR house with a big ol' yard for the same price in lots of other places... and still maybe not spend that much! So we aren't even going to rank it. That was pretty easy, and yet a very enjoyable few days. I will say this - I can understand why it is so desirable. To be so close to NYC yet so different, is quite nice. :goodvibes

From there we went to Delaware. This is where my good news comes in, believe it or not  We almost cancelled the trip, because in our minds -- what the heck is in Delaware? Well, I'm in love with the area. NOWHERE have Kyle and I both been there for less than an evening and said "I could spend forever here". In stinkin' DELAWARE?! :rotfl: Really though. If you aren't familiar with northern Delaware, it's heaven in the US. Good schools, fairly low cost of living, 25 minutes from Philly (the area we were looking) and between 1-2 hours from the beach, the Poconos, DC, NYC, Baltimore, several major airports, etc. And Newark is just like Oxford (our straight-out-of-a-movie college town :goodvibes ). We assumed the program would be horrible (because that's how it's gone -- good area, bad program and vice versa). It was perfect. Kyle said, and I quote - "I haven't been to a program yet that answered all of my questions 100% how I want. It's like they were reading my mind" ::yes::

I think Cincinnati will still probably rank #1. Mostly because of the Children's Hospital..... but it was the most AMAZING feeling to know there is in fact somewhere else we could end up that we love. We were getting quite nervous.... while several places are "fine", before Delaware I thought I was REALLY going to have to choke back some tears on Match Day if we didn't get Cincy. I'm pretty relieved, to say the least... espeically since UC grads have historically gotten their top 1st-3rd choices. Now we have 3 I could live with!

Really not that great a story, huh? I told you that you all were getting too exited :rotfl:

We finished up in Philadelphia (at another program) and Baltimore. Both were fantastic cities, but the programs were very ok. We got stranded in Baltimore an extra day, which made returning to school a little nerve wracking.

And now my Critical Care course is going to be the death of me.

And I've gained 5 pounds since I last checked, but that is an entirely different story that belongs (and is already posted) on the other thread.

Congrats - what excellent news! I've never been to Delaware, and would probably have had some of the same reactions before going. It's funny how we have ideas about certain areas of the country and how people are and what they do living there.

I know being from Texas, we get asked some funny things! At the Rose Bowl, one of the workers commented to my dad about how many Texas people had made the trip and then asked "how did all of you guys get here?"

I told my dad he should have said we all hitched up our horse and wagon a couple of months ago and began the trek! :rotfl2:

Hope you guys get what you want!

I am not exagerating...this woman (recommended by a friend) spoke NON STOP for 4 hours straight! I am as chatty as the next...but this was unreal. I now now every and I mean EVERY :scared1: intimate detail about this woman.

I like the color...but not too happy with the cut. She talked so much between each snip, I am not sure she remembered what she was doing. Plus I spent $185

If I get brave, I'll take a pic....

At least hair grows back... ::yes::

Yikes! :scared1:

Although I completely understand - the first time I went to my hairdresser, he took SIX HOURS to highlight and cut my hair (also recommended by a friend). When I talked to her later, I was like "is this normal?" Unfortunately, somewhat. I've learned to break my appts. up (rarely do I get cut and color at the same time), and bring a book or magazine so I look busy and he doesn't talk as much!

Wow, you are a planner!!!

I read something Kate wrote yesterday..she mentioned that she doesn't put dates on her shirts since she like to wear them again..I wish I had thought of that before I made all those shirts for oct 05...Now I have to make all new shirts for this years trip. No dates this time!

I wanted to try this placed but how do picky eaters (the kids not me :teeth: ) do? DH thinks the cost might not be worth it if the kids eat nothing. :confused3

Boma is great, and I've been with a couple of picky eaters (myself included!), and there is plenty of variety. Even some of the stuff that might be more "African" is actually recognizable (fish, chicken, etc.), and the difference is in how it's prepared. Plus, there's the kiddie buffet that typically has chicken tenders, spaghetti, mac and cheese, etc., if an adult were to get desperate.

Plus, with it being a buffet, if you don't like something, you can go back and keep trying stuff until you find what you like. I HIGHLY recommend it!

EXACTLY! I'm sitting here looking at my designs from December. There are 3 sets I can re-use (no dates). I won't make that mistake again (the dates). Although the kids got new costumes from Santa (Jasmine, Power Rangers) so I'll probably edit those anyway to add the new pictures on them.

I also want a new shirt for the proposed MGM Pixar character breakfast and maybe another new MGM one with Fantasmic and some of the other MGM faves (Playhouse Disney, etc).

Let the fun begin! I'm sitting here going back and forth on shirt colors and it's 11 months away. Although when I went to buy shirts in Oct/Nov I had a horrible time finding short sleeve shirts (we layered). I'd rather get them now and save them for this next trip.

Only color I'm having a hard time finding is RED for girls. Anyone seen red girl shirts (size 6/7 or small)?

Ok guys, I made 7 eye patches for Kristine's daughter. Here is a photo.

I also came up with this letter to send with it. If I had past and next trip dates I could make it more personal, but since Kristine's not on I don't have the info and need to get to the post office by 5 PM.

What do you think? Should I make any changes to the letter?

Deb
Trying to catch up.
Just saw this and I think it is perfect.

HELP! Kate, I'm trying to add a few autographs pages to the book (we got some autographs that didn't I didn't have pages made for) and I can't find any Power Ranger clipart. Well, I prob. could if I had hours to sit here and wait for my dial-up to load everything. Nicholas got siggies from the Red Ranger, Lunar Wolf Ranger, Pink Time Force Ranger and Green Samurai Ranger. If anyone can point me to some clipart for those, I would soooo appreciate it.
