I wanted to try this placed but how do picky eaters (the kids not me :teeth: ) do? DH thinks the cost might not be worth it if the kids eat nothing. :confused3

Boma's has a little buffet just for kids with chicken strips and the old faithful mac and cheese.....

We are relieved. And not only that, but it was so amazing that we both just felt so at peace with it right away! That was definitely a first. That's why I say it MIGHT even rank above Cincy, although I'm not sure.... we've had our hearts set on this program since the beginning. We'll have to see how the actual interview goes. Even though Kyle knows the program from being here, it will still be nice to go and hear the same sort of presentation to compare it more easily.

Oh, by the way, Delaware is so close to Philly and Philly has Children's Hospital associate with UnivofPenn, one of the best children's hospitals in the world. I will always have a warm spot for them as they saved my son's life... :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

:sunny: Wanted to post on PAGE 150. Is this a milestone? :hyper:

I know, I was QUITE excited when I realized how close it was. Dupont (in DE) is a good hospital too, but I would LOVE to work at CHOP. I might think it's as good as Cincinnati Children's, but I doubt it. I'm pretty biased to that one, though! But certainly I wouldn't be saying "Oh, this is not near as ____ (insert any adjective) as Cincy Children's". I would love it, too, I'm sure! :goodvibes

Okay you guys, I need help -- and sorry this is so long. My mother fell and broke her ankle yesterday, and tore a ligament. Some health background -- she is 64 years old, and she has always had problem with her feet/ankles swelling. (She recently started taking two fluid pills so they haven't been as swollen lately). She has diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis, and other issues, and is overweight. She also had breast cancer around 8 years ago with double masectomy and complete reconstruction (using adbominal tissue). Anyway, she is supposed to go to the annual convention for crafts (she owns a scrapbook shop) in two weeks in Las Vegas.

My sister works for a group of orthopedic doctors, so that is who mom went to when she fell. The doctor's advise against airline travel for 4 - 6 weeks, because of swelling. She has to wear the cast for 4 weeks, then will be in a boot for 4 - 8 weeks after that. Mom thinks that we are just telling her that because no one can take off work to go with her to help her out, and because the doctor didn't tell her she couldn't travel yesterday. Of course, she didn't tell him she was supposed to travel in a couple of weeks. I told her to call the doctor tomorrow, but she is being stubborn (an understatement) and insists that my sister told him to tell her that.

Have any of you had broken bones or family/friends who did, or experience in the medical field? I tried googling for answers, but must not have put in the right search to get info on airline travel and casts. It just pulled up model airplanes! Any advice/help, even if it isn't the same as we have already received, would be helpful.

I went to California with a torn ligament in my ankle. Wasn't fun. Getting through the airport in my big boot wasn't fun. Sitting on the airplane for 4 hours was he!!. Had to go for work, or I would have rescheduled. :goodvibes :goodvibes

I went to Disney in December with a stress fracture in the other foot. Dragging my foot behind me in AK was the worse. Everywhere else, I was okay. Just drug my leg behind me. Somehow, I didn't mind the boot in Disney. :scratchin :scratchin

I think 40 was my time for a meltdown. I breezed through 21, 30, 39, but 40 stopped me for a second. Then I was fine for 50, and 55..... okay that's enough!! :cake: :bday:

At least you're not a Gemini. I always feel like I have twins who argue back and forth all the time when I try to make decisions. I can never make up my mind.

And no those twins aren't kids. I don't have any.

Becky

Get better Becky!!! :flower:

Dupont's a great hospital. :goodvibes :sunny: Their R & D is topnotch.

ok I'm back on page 141 but I just noticed Kate's new signature announcement about the number of designs she has on the go.

Kate - I am in awe at your generosity that you will spend so much of your time spreading pixie dust for others. It started me thinking that maybe you could ask people to pay it forward by making a small donation to charity? There is a website http://www.justgiving.com/ where you set up a webpage about your chosen charity and then you put the link in your sig and people go and write a note and donate however much they want to. Then you can see how much is being raised - and the money is sent to your charity.

You could choose one close to your heart - or even the make a wish foundation which would be apt. People could of course donate at the foundation site - but using the other kind of site allows you to see how much money has been raised through your efforts.

Just a thought - but since you are being so generous I thought it would be a great way to rasie money for charity at the same time... in fact all of us DDAers who make designs could do the same thing?

What does everyone think?

We all have them! Just take some deep breaths.

On this note, I have a neighbor who is of Scandinavian heritage. Her mother is from Sweden. She was recently diagnosed with seasonal depression. Apparently, it's quite common for people of Scandinavian descent to get depressed in the winter months, due to the lack of sunlight in Scandinavia. There are all sorts of research projects going on about those who have never been to Scandinavia, but are of that heritage, and their depression. Interesting stuff!

Maybe I should check out my heritage - I'm such a fair weather person - I am always happy when the sun is shining - but on gloomy days I feel gloomy. Even when I was in Disney we had a really awfully gloomy day and I was so cranky it was awful! Not good to be in England in January... I need some :sunny:

one girl spent the hour getting my advice on where to send her DD to school - b/c she was considering my alma mater - UGH!!

Ok guys I need another American :teacher:

The one thing I really do not understand is your education system... ages between schools - junior high - freshman - alma maters - sorority sisters...

Can someone give me a lesson - from starting school age through graduating with your final degree... ages - what type of school - exam names etc etc and enlighten me?

I'd be most grateful
