Deb...

I can't thank you enough!!! :worship: :worship: The patch looks GREAT and the letter is fantastic! What a sweet touch :teeth: I wouldn't have thought of something like that...I know it will make a huge difference getting her to wear them. I am sorry I wasn't around to answer your questions...my whole haircut/dye job turned out to be a 4 hour ordeal. :scared1:

Again...THANK YOU DEB!!! :flower: :flower: :flower: :flower2: :flower2: :flower2:

A good hair ordeal, or a bad one? Let's have the details, girl!

I thought you got a welcome way back at the beginning of this new thread. The graphic came later. But just in case you didn't:

I was just kidding, but thank you! :) I didn't show up until pretty late, so I missed out..... congratulations, by the way Dame Tammy ::yes::

Jennifer - I am so happy that you have some choices that you and Kyle are happy with. And share your bad mood with us. We will all have our turn in the barrel sometime.

Kristine - Well, how is the new "DO"???

As far as your reaction to Long Island, I had a similar (yet somehow totally different) story recently about the NYC area. I have been under threat of losing my job for months (well years really, but it keeps getting worse) so I have been job hunting some. Well, I got a call from a recruiter offering me an interview for a job in Yonkers, NY. The job sounded really good, but I thought... Yonkers? Yikes. :scared1: But I agreed to look into the company and the area and call her back. I live in New York State, but I have to be honest, I don't know a whole lot about anything near New York City, so I went online and looked up Yonkers. Then I looked at a map to figure out where people who work in Yonkers must live.
Anyway, lets just say that even if we didn't owe any money on our home here in Rochester, the equity wouldn't be enough for a down payment on a similar home in that area. And for about 2-3 times what our 1700 sq. ft. home is worth, we could probably get a 1 -2 bedroom apartment.

So I guess what I am trying to say is I understand your reaction to the housing prices on Long Island, and it was easy for me to turn down that job interview!

Well Ellen - the exact same reason you stated above is why we moved from Long Island to the Rochester area!! There is no preparing you for the expense... and we would have spent our whole lives trying to pay for a mortgage. What kind of money would our child have to make in order to live in his home town??? We are here a year now and happy as clams. This was out biggest life decision (other than getting married and having a child!) and one of our happiest. So - Jennifer - being happy with where you pick is a very important thing. It took me 42 years to figure that out!!

And if you want to read a story about our move that was in the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, all you have to do is google Matthew Linetzky. What other 7 year old can google himself to find an article?????

Pictures??!?!?!?!?!

I am not exagerating...this woman (recommended by a friend) spoke NON STOP for 4 hours straight! I am as chatty as the next...but this was unreal. I now now every and I mean EVERY :scared1: intimate detail about this woman.

I like the color...but not too happy with the cut. She talked so much between each snip, I am not sure she remembered what she was doing. Plus I spent $185

If I get brave, I'll take a pic....

At least hair grows back... ::yes::

Just saw your post -- do you have a headache from listening to the chatter for 4 hours??? I know I would! We'll give you a break on the pictures, for now. :teeth:

:cheer2 - that's good to know! Season finale of season 1 airs on tv here tonight- we've already seen it though as I bought the season 1 dvd set on our trip - and we watched the remaining 12 episodes in 4 nights!

So we'll have to wait 'til next year to see season two on tv - but my brother's been downloading them on the net... I have the first 9 that we're just watching but he said you guys were on a break before episode 10 - I'll have to let him know the wait is over :goodvibes

I love Lost it's just great - but they always finish it leaving you wanting more and me shouting NNNOOOOOOOoooooo at the tv :rotfl:
I'm always doing the same thing at the end of the program! Tonight features Eko, should be reaaaaalllllyyy good!

one girl spent the hour getting my advice on where to send her DD to school - b/c she was considering my alma mater - UGH!!

That is a wonderful thing about DL. When we were there 2 years ago, we had lunch at Ariel's Grotto. DS had a huge crush on Ariel. Well, we were the only family with children there at the time, and Ariel spent about a half hour talking with my son. She held him on her lap, kissed him on both cheeks (we were not allowed to wash the lipstick off the rest of the day), and we got some really special pictures of the two of them.

This last September, Alice and the Mad Hatter made all 4 of my kids honorary citizens of Disneyland, which was a big thing. Later that trip, as we were on our way out of the park we ran into Wendy, Peter Pan and Captain Hook. Wendy grabbed a hand of each of my twins, and Peter ran off to hide. We spent about 45 minutes playing hide and seek for Peter Pan. It was so magical! We also had many pixie dust moments with Eeyore and Piglet as well.

This is so sweet! I'm thinking about going down to DL in March (26th Anniversary) - but I know absolutely nothing about DL- can you give me some hints. We like staying onsite, but if you can give some really nice close offsite places we might be interested in that as well. What else is there to do around DL?? I need the scoop Glynis! Please!??!?? Any websites?

How sturdy do you want them to be? Try the Dollar Store
They don't have to be too sturdy, they just need to last 2 hours. Down south they don't sell mittens much of anywhere, so I can almost promise you there won't be any at our dollar store. If anyone up north finds some for around a dollar, I'd gladly pay for them and shipping. You can ask Denise, I'm good for it :teeth:

Do y'all think I could learn to knit mittens before February 18th :teeth: ?

I'll check around here for you Dawn. They have to be mittens right - not gloves? I just wanted to make sure before I head out. Let me know and I'll look around for you. How many pairs do you need?

have any of you used dreams unlimited for your trip? how was it?

I used Dreams once and they where wonderful. In the beginning there was a slight problem, but as soon as I contacted the guy in charge everythign was straightened out and there were no more problems. What happened was that I was assigned to a TA that was ill and hadn't responded to any of my emails- so I got switched and VOILA! No more problem! It was really nice not to ahve to worry about having tonwatch for teh AP codes. As soon as they came out, Kelsie was right on top of ti and had it applied to my ressie for me. I think if you can let go of control- you'd be really happy with Dreams.

Hey, everyone, I've got FABULOUS news! DH and I were talking last night and he is finally realizing that I'm totally serious about the half marathon. Anyway, he said, "If you're really planning on doing this, let's do it right. We'll celebrate your 40th birthday while we're there." Hooray! He actually is letting me start planning!

So, I'm turning to you, my DDA family for advice and suggestions. I need recommendations on where to stay (remember I'm a newbie, so the abbreviations go over my head), where to eat, how soon to make ressies, etc. Also, this is a very budget trip. We're still paying off my surgery, so we need to be a bit frugal. We'd love to stay onsite if it's affordable, but will go offsite if need be.

I want to start making a list of places to eat that you all consider "must do's." So, jump right in, I'm creating a file for all the great info you are going to be sending my way.

I'm so excited!!!!!

We need details my friend! then... we can start planning. What's your budget and how long? Would you like to meet DH and I for dinner one night???

Deb great patches and letter, sure it will be the hit and hopefully help you get her to wear them.

Went to Hobby Lobby today, walked out with 21 shirts, some soda ash so I am about to start all these designs, haven't decided when to tell the kids about there cruise but am going to make shirts for them, also bought Disney gift bags, disney pez, disney chap stick etc etc for the bag and maybe they will get the hint. :flower:

Ok guys, I made 7 eye patches for Kristine's daughter. Here is a photo.

I also came up with this letter to send with it. If I had past and next trip dates I could make it more personal, but since Kristine's not on I don't have the info and need to get to the post office by 5 PM.

What do you think? Should I make any changes to the letter?

Deb

Deb- this is so sweet and thoughtful of you! What a special surprise that little princess will get! WTG girl! You get the Good Deed of the Day Award!
