If y'all can stand any more posts from me tonight, I'd like to do an unofficial poll.

We're down to 2 names and I'm interested to know which you like better and how many girls you know with these names. I checked the popular baby name lists and they're #22 and #82 (out of 100).

Anyway, the two names are Caroline and Lauren. The middle name is Elizabeth. Our last name will go well with all of them. I don't want to post it here but if you can't choose without knowing, PM me :teeth: .

One name is DH and Christopher's favorite. The other is my favorite.
I really like Lauren. princess:

Paula....

Very very sorry to read that incredibly sad news...you are right, it certainly makes you think about the trivialities of life!

If I could I would go in September and December and May.....and...... :cheer2: :cheer2: :cloud9:
Did I read your OP wrong? If you go in September you'll give up your December trip? If so, I think I'd stay with December.

I was planning on a great night on the thread, but I have to go now because we just got a very sad call. I don't know if you remmeber me talking about a friend of ours DD who was sent to WDW in late Apr from Make A Wish. She was only 10 yrs old and today she passed away after only a year of having cancer. I am so very sad right now. And ti think I was complaining that DH and I forgot about our anniversary, how flipping trivial is that crap. This little girl was fighting to then end and we didn't help the family any these past past few days and now she is gone. I know we couldn't have done anything about it, but I wish I would have done something like make them a meal or something.
I have a few calls to make and a few things to do for the family. I might be back a little later.

Here is a news story that was done about her if you'd like to read it.

10-Year-Old Girl Spends day as KC-10 Pilot

Travis AFB, CA. - It was a foggy day in San Francisco when a 10-year-old girl flew a KC-10 Extender under the Golden Gate Bridge.

Katie Powell, daughter of Senior Master Sgt. Chris Powell of the 60th Operations Group, was named Pilot for a Day May 19 and given an inside look at the daily life of pilots at Travis.

Master Sgt. Kenneth Rossa, 60th OG C-17 loadmaster evaluator, started the program to provide opportunities to local children who are facing life-threatening diseases. Katie has Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer.

“We’re just trying to treat her very special today,” said Capt. Cate Fienhold, 6th Air Refueling Squadron executive officer. “She is a very strong girl.”

Katie started her day with an honorary pilot presentation. She received unit patches and a scarf. She then went on to her mission briefing and obtained her orders for the day along with a donated flight suit.

Her mission began at the air traffic control tower where she spoke to pilots and aircrews in flight.

Then she took command of the KC-10 simulator and flew out to San Francisco, where she buzzed the Golden Gate and executed a near-perfect landing on her first try.

From the simulator, she went on to KC-10 boom operator training, had lunch and then toured an actual KC-10.

At the end of the day, she met Col. Steven Arquiette, 60th Air Mobility Wing commander, who gave her a coin and the scarf from around his neck.

“One of the things she kept saying was that she was thankful,” Sergeant Powell said. “She understands how much work people have to do. Everyone we visited took time out of their day to show her around.”

Sergeant Powell works as a KC-10 boom operator; the tour gave Katie a chance to see what her dad does at his job.

“To be honest, it was just fortunate that I happen to work in the same type of area,” Sergeant Powell said. “I had nothing to do with it other than my daughter was the recipient.”

Katie was the first Pilot for a Day at Travis.

“One of the things we told her was that she was the test run,” Sergeant Powell said. “I asked her if there was anything she recommended to make the program better; she said she wouldn’t change a thing. It was perfect. She really had a great time.”

The day was not without its surprises for Sergeant Powell.

“When they asked her what job she wanted to do, she said boom (operator); that was a complete shock to good old dad,” he said.

That makes me so sad. You should never have to bury your children. Prayers for her family.

Paula, I am very sorry. This is the 2nd child in 2 days that I've gotten news about who has died from cancer. One of the moms in my National Triplet Club lost her son yesterday. He was 6 and just finished Kindergarten. It sure makes you grab your kids and hug them.

Please know you all are in my prayers.

Yeah!!! Nicholas!!!

Ok, I just rebooked the CR on line. I'll call tomorrow and cancel the ASMo.

Ok, I have a dilemma. I switched the reservation to ASMo and now John is very upset and mad. Turns out *HE* is the true resort snob, not me. And he's upset that Rees won't have the CM hotel, the monorail, and the MK View. So now I'm totally torn as what to do.

He says the $1600 is worth it for the convenience, the nicer rooms, view, and CM and the monorail for Rees. So should I just chalk it up and switch it back? I really don't know what to do.

Thanks.

Oh Denise,
As long as he is OK with the extra money.
I would change it back.
Take the kids to the ASMO for a meal & tour the Resort.

That's exactly my plan. Then if they love it, I'll book it next time and save money. Or I can take them by myself over Spring Break and stay there. That's probably what will happen. All Stars with mommy and Deluxe with Daddy! ;)

Oh Paula. I'm so sorry for your loss and for her family... :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Please don't feel guilty. Go to them now. They probably enjoyed having her last days to themselves. That is the reason I haven't gone to the hospital to see my friend. Her family was called in and told she might not make it through the night. If I knew them, I would go. But I would just be an intruder, so I stayed home... I think she's going to fight for her life too. If she makes it, I'll go see her tomorrow...

I just can't go there in my feelings as to how they might feel. What they are going through. I can't imagine. But I'll bet they have needs they can express to you. Honor them.. Even if it is go away, I want to stay in my bed for the next two weeks, which was the reaction I got when a co-workers son died....

Okay, I've got to get some shut-eye. Another stressfilled day at Whoville.... :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Paula- How very sad and it makes me want to hug my babies tight.
Well I will when I'm not so sick.
I agree that these last few days they will remember more probably that they had time with their precious daughter then who did or didn't come by. You helped make the Make a Wish trip special I am sure they will remember that.

I will keep that family in my prayers!!

Paula, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. Losing any child seems so wrong. Children deserve to live. Cancer is such a horrible disease and so unpredictable. My bosses wife has cancer. A couple of months ago she was given 2 years to live, FF to now and she has cancer in her lungs and around her heart, she is on oxygen all the time and it doesn't look promising at all. She is determined that she will beat it, but has refused chemo and radiation and opted for holistic options. It is so sad to know anyone that is suffering through such a disabling disease. The best thing that you can do is be there for the family now. I'm sure that helping with meals, childcare etc would be an immense help in such a devastating time.

Phil is doing pretty well this week. He refuses to take the mega-dose Vitamin D again after until he sees the endocinologist (sp) herself in a few weeks. After the horrible episode with the last dose he wants to talk the whole thing over with her in-person before proceeding. He woke with a lighter version of that panic and depression for several more days, but would do better by the late afternoon/evening so the reaction continued for several more days. Now, he seems to be back to normal, but still can't eat a bowl of cereal with milk without getting really drowsy so something is still going on.

Thanks for asking. It's nice to know that others are thinking of us.
:wizard: I will keep your family in prayer for Phil's Dr. appt. so they can figure out what's wrong.

It looks like I'm here alone which is a good thing as I need to do some housework today. Yesterday I spent the day sewing for others. MIL needed curtains altered (yep, she actually called us as she needed something again) and a family friend needed a belt made for her terry bathrobe (why she choose pea green for a belt for a white bathrobe I will never know). I feel good about getting these projects out of the way so hopefully the cleaning will go well today. I also took Colby for a walk last night so I feel good about that. I still haven't made a decision about the motorcycle ride this weekend, I'm secretly praying for rain as then I won't need to make a decision as I don't ride in the rain.

:wizard: That you can make a decision your comfortable with.

Here is the link to my friend whose son Jacob (a BBB triplet) died yesterday. I am sobbing with tears pouring down my face. I am so heartbroken. I can't imagine losing one of my trio and how hard that must be for his brothers.

Here is the link to Jacob's page. He is only 3 weeks older than my kids. Heather and I were pg together.
