Very cute pictures, Tia! Did she catch any butterflies (or a pixie)?

Several got very close. There were a few Zebra Longwings that were constantly fluttering around her, but never actually landed. Another one landed on her leg for a second once too.

I love the super hero mask. Terra is such a cutie!!!

Thanks, Vicki! :goodvibes It was even a Mickey mask as I used some Mickey fleece I had. I think I'm going to turn the rest into a cape to go with the mask, but she really wanted to keep the bandana cap yesterday.

Hi everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful day today! Bob and I went to the Indians/White Sox game today. Had great seats in the upper deck behind home plate. We started in the shade, then full on sun. Sox won 11-0. And to anyone else who wears shorts to a baseball game: PLEASE don't forget to put sunscreen on your legs! The tops of mine are burnt to a crisp. We stopped at Steak n Shake on the way home for a milkshake, now Bob's mowing the back yard. I'm off to go straighten up the house (15 minutes a room!) then relax on the couch with some Aloe Gel fresh from the fridge!
Hi Chanon. It sounds like a fun day. Nicholas got a little pink today too, and I've been slathering him with aloe. But I never thought about the fridge first. I'll have to try that.

Hi DDA! I'm back from our camping weekend. Thanks for keeping it down. It only took me about two hours to catch up. We got to our campsite at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday. When they said rustic cabins, they really meant rustic! Ours was complete with spiders and small holes in the walls and floor. We swept out the spiders, set everything up, and it was quite cozy. However, there were boulders everywhere! At the bottom of the stairs leading into the cabin, there was a huge rock that you couldn't move. It was really fun getting up and down that last step. Then on Saturday evening, we noticed hundreds of carpenter ants on the ceiling (wooden ceiling, peaked, with rafters). We went and told the ranger, and he thought we meant just a few ants, so he came with Raid. When he walked in, he went, whoaa!! you really do have ants. He was going to try to move us, but there were no cabins left. He sprayed with the Raid and some other stuff underneath the cabin, and then the ants were dropping like - well, like ants from the ceiling! We swept them all out and didn't have any more problems. We managed to laugh it off and had a good time, anyway. I actually managed to finish the book I was reading before we left and another one (Mary Higgins Clark's "Two Little Girls in Blue"). It was a page-turner like her others. We packed up and left this morning at around 11:00 a.m. When we got near the Friendly's near home, we decided to stop for ice cream. When we came out, Melanie's car wouldn't start. Since I had the perishables in my car, I came on home with two of the girls (granddaughter and friend) and Melanie called a friend to come and try to start her car. It was some sort of loose wire and he got it going. She then came here, moved the stuff that needed to go back to my storage unit into my car and took it all over. Then she came back and picked up the girls and went home. I took a shower, put on pjs, and relaxed here. Even with the few mishaps, it was a good weekend. The weather was great - no rain at all.

June -- glad you had a good time despite the problems. I'm also a huge fan of Mary Higgins Clark! I haven't read that one yet, but I'll go looking for it this week.

Vicki - I found you a rhubarb recipe from one of my Taste of Home magazines. It's for a bar cookie; I haven't tried it; If you do, you'll have to let me know how it turns out. (Though with all the sugar, it sounds sweet!)

Rhubarb Dream Bars
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour, divided
1/3 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup cold butter or margarine
1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups sugar (to taste)
2 eggs
2 cups finely chopped rhubarb
1/2 chopped walnuts
1/2 cup flaked coconut

In a bowl, combine 1 cup flour and confectioners' sugar. Cut in butter until crumbly. Pat into a lightly greased 13x9 baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 13-15 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. In a bowl, combine the sugar and remaining flour. Add eggs; mix well. Stir in rhubarb, walnuts, and coconut; pour over crust. Bake 30-35 minutes longer or until set. Cool on wire rack; cut into bars.

Just got a pm from Lindsay (Tinkaroo). She is doing fine but very busy. Just got done with a company picnic for over 200 people that she was in charge of. She is leaving on her trip on Friday. She misses us but says her time is not her own right now.

That used to be my favorite part of opening the pool. We would spread our winter cover on a small hill and my sisters and I would spend the afternoon with a hose, scrub brushes and some soap sliding everywhere and cleaning the cover. It was so much fun!

We put the cover on a large hill. Usually I do a lot of slipping, but I thought ahead and wore my airwalks. I did not slip once. My mother on the other hand looked like she was on a slip and slide. It was really funny. She usually slide 5 feet off the cover onto the grass. You should have heard her scream. Of course the boys were doing it intentionally.

I'm glad you had a good weekend, althought you were probably more of a trooper than I would have been, regarding those ants. I'm glad it all worked out.

This is her "Tinkerbell-holding" pose...she decided that like she was holding Tink was the best way to try to be still so one might land on her (several had been fluttering around her for a long time).
This is just too cute!

Tia -- cute pictures of the kids. And Terra looks so happy! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the recipe. We have lots of rhubarb so I just might try this if it cools off so I can do some baking.

It has been too hot here to do anything. Why can't we have normal weather. It has either been too cold or too hot for this time of year. This is usually one of my favorite times of year. I do not enjoy very warm weather. We are having 90 degree weather with very high humidity. Double yuck!!! I wanted to go out kayaking today but I didn't think I'd enjoy the heat. We are hoping to go at 7pm tonight after dinner.

I just got done making Chuck's birthday dessert (his birthday was April 28 but things were crazy for us then). He is not one for a birthday cake so he asks for a cheese torte every year. It is easy to make but a long process so I only make it a couple of times a year. The best part on such a hot day is no baking required. Luckily, that way it also stays special. His brother also loves it so I try to make it for Thanksgiving time when we are all together. Now that their mom is older, her cooking skills have really dropped and it never turns out quite right when she makes it. They both cringe when she makes it specially for them!

I'm also going to make something out of my rhubarb. I think I saw a recipe that calls for a graham cracker crust from the site that someone posted for me. I'll probably try that since it is way too hot to cook.

We'll be having steaks on the grill and baked potatoes in the microwave for dinner! Woohoo!! Plus leftover grilled corn on the cob. I can't wait.
Chuck, I'm still waiting for you to come out of lurkdom!!!

hi everyone!
i wanted to see if you guys had any suggestions for me.
I want to start working on my brother's birthday gift --I am making a frame full of 6 pictures of alyssa with him, or on her visit to NJ..
What i am picturing is i want the lyric "look for the girl with the broken smile" along the top of the whole frame...at the very bottom, i want "she will be loved" centered (these are lyrics from her favorite maroon 5 song--she met them and they dedicated this song to her)...I have 6 pictures i want to put on ..

my problem is that i am not doing this a typical printer paper size so i dont know what the easiest way to do this is..
I want some way of printing this on the decorative paper (just paper from AC Moore with some type of design)...is there anywhere i can go that will print on bigger paper..and how do i do this? im so confused!! let me know if this doesnt make sense--thanks!
