Happy Thursday!

I am going off memory here so I hope I don't exclude anyone

Vicki- What a great story! It really is a small world. Here's :wizard: for Chuck.

Theresa- :cool1: that you will be here for sure for the DC meet! What dates are you travelling again?

Kate- I hope your Dr says it's #3. :wizard: I love the teacher gifts.

Jen- Way to go on your speech!

Deb- How is Nick this morning? :wizard: for your :dog: and :cat:

Denise- :wizard: for the job interview. :wizard: :wizard: to get you through the coming week. How is Davis this morning?

Dawn- So have you answered Christopher's ? yet? When I was pregnant with Molly, Emma asked me how the baby got out of my tummy. I answered her by simply saying that when Molly was ready to come out I would go to the hospital and she would be born there. She was 4 and I thought that if she wanted more info than that then I would tell her. She was satisfied with my answer but later we were watching the last epidsode of Friends when the Monica's twins were born and she said "Mom, babies come out of your butt!" Well I then had to go into a little more detail. I will have the clothes for you ready to ship out this weekend.

Debbie- Good to "see" you around.

Marci- :cheer2: What a great moment for your boys!

Theresa- :welcome:

Paula- What a weekend!

Becky- Glad to hear you gave your notice!

Chanon- Lucky you for not having to cook 3 nights a week! I'm jealous

Here's :cheer2: :grouphug: :wizard: to go around!

When did these ads from Google start appearing at the top of threads? They're driving me bonkers!

I think I've resolved the mystery on why some are getting Google ads and some aren't. Sorry, I'm a computer geek! When there is a mystery like this, I have to try to figure out why. I think that it is the "forum skin" that you have selected. In your options at the very bottom of the screen, you can change the forum skin. It changes the color scheme as well as some things at the top. In my testing, I found that the default (Orlando Blue) had the google ads at the top that you were complaining about. I have Disney Vacation Club set (because I'm dreaming and I like the colors). It does not have the google ads. I also tested Serenity Green as well as Swan & Dolphin. Those don't have the google ads. So in conclusion ...

If you don't want google ads, change your forum skin.

Tons of :wizard: for your dogs, Deb. I just made an appt. for our dog to have his surgery on the 9th, so I hope everything goes smoothly. It is so sad that they have to go through all of this.

I hope Nick is feeling better today.

Can you make any other suggestions of what teachers would like? I have 2 weeks to figure something out.

Emma and I are feverishly trying to come up with something for her teachers. I really liked the aprons but she said that only her art teacher wears one. I have played around with the idea of a canvas tote bag and designing something to put on it and either getting a few books to stash in there or a gift card to a teacher supply store. I also thought about making pins with beads in the school colors and trying to find a charm to add as well. Thinking this way I could do the art, music, Phys ed, and her regular teacher and assistant as well.

I just finished Julia's teacher gifts and I can't even begin to tell you how pleased I am with them!!!

This is the keychain blocks that we made - I actually did these after she went to bed - I bought the little blocks for $2.99 (30 of them) then I used a sharpie to outline them and add the letters - then I drilled a hole in them and put a leather like string through them - it was $2 and then the key rings - they were about 25 for $2 - so my total cost was $7 for these

Then I made these aprons -I used dark transfer paper for the crayon and blocks - the aprons were $14 for 3 - but I used my Michaels 50% off so they were $7 - I bought the other two seperately and they were $5 each - I splurged on the flower and butterfly appliques and they cost $11 and those are of course - Julia's handprints - so the aprons cost me $28 to make 5 - but I could have cut the cost by $11 and not used the appliques

but since I only spent $35 on the 5 teacher gifts - I didn't mind splurging!!!

Those all turned out so cute, Kate! I am sure that the teachers will love them. Julie had some great ideas and just the mom to bring them to fruition so beautifully.

I find it very interesting how different things are in the south vs. other areas. Vera Bradley is VERY popular here. I LOVE that color blue!
I was sort of surprised to learn that kid's smocked outfits (both boys and girls) weren't very popular in other parts of the country. I'm watching several bishop dresses on EBay right now and they're all from southern states.

When I was little I had a ton of smocked dresses, Polly Flinders. I really wish my mom would have saved them. I love the look of the smocking but it is really hard to find them around here.

My MIL loved smocked dresses and bought several Polly Flinders for the girls over the years when they were little. They are beautiful dresses but I could never see myself spending that kind of money. Luckily, they had a doting grandmother to spend it on them instead.

I get all sorts of weird calls on my work cell phone for someone named Eric, apparently this person left a chain of unpaid bills and things and they are all looking for this person. So not only do I get the legitimate calls, I get all of these calls searching out someone who no longer has the number. Even if this number was registered these calls would still happen as they were businesses the person who had the number before dealt with.

I think the company didn't wait long enough to turn over the phone #. We've been ignoring most of the calls, because the couple of times we've answered it's been a drunk. And the text messages are just plain weird.

But it was a good reminder to register the cells, I'm not paying to listen to a telemarketer!!

Congratulations, good job on your speech.

Perhaps talk about something you know well. Perhaps Disney, there are so many options that you could make a great informational speech about Disney. :thumbsup2

Im not done reading, so you may have gotten some answers to this...

some of my favorites have been a nice picture frame with a class pciture that all of the kids wrote their names, a beach bag filled with beach things, gift certificates to the movies, even a couple of disney things....

I really like the idea of a canvas tote....I work in a day care center and i am always carrying a ton of stuff in....i have one and love it! I would be thrilled to get one as a gift from a parent!

As a former speech student and teacher, I can tell you that the informational speech is one of the easiest! :thumbsup2

Choosing a topic that really interests you helps you in two ways: 1) it's easier to memorize and 2) you're more enthusiastic in your delivery!

Congratulations on your other speech too!

Amy :)
