Thanks for the update. I noticed Andrew had a great couple of games and that Lindsay stopped in to say hi too. I read Glynis' update. Y'all are in my prayers and glad everyone is doing well. Hope anyone sick feels better. Oh, and good luck on the NCLEX, Jen. And have fun on the cruise.

BK had her dress rehearsal last night. She did well, and her class looked adorable. The recital is Sat. Kids had a swim b'day party today in a neighborhood where the homes start at 1.2 million (so out of our league it is hysterical). The pool complex looks like Storm Along Bay. Unbelievable. We stayed 4 hours and had so much fun. If you can't be rich, it sure is wonderful to have friends who are and share the fun with you!

Tomorrow kids have a playdate with lots of their school friends at the park. Then Friday is Rees' pre-op appt. Sat recital. Sunday my mom flies back. Monday is surgery.

Oh, and please send PD my way. I got a call this am for the preschool teaching job at my church! It's the lead teacher position for a 2 year old class. I can have my choice of 2 days a week, T-Th or M-W, or teach all 4 days. I told her I would like the 4. So I go next Wednesday at 10am for the interview. Keep your fingers crossed! It would be perfect, close to home, and at our home church. Hours are 9am-2pm, so I could get the kids on the bus and be there when the bus drops them off. And I'd still get a three day weekend every week by having Fridays off!

Everyone is doing well here. We're loving the summer vacation already. Kids have been playing outside, going to the pool. It's so hot, but wonderful if you're in the water. We go to the beach in 2 weeks, and I can't wait. I need one more swim suit, so I'll join Jen in that shopping.

Hope everyone on the DDA is doing well!

Denise -- that job sounds perfect for you! Many prayers and lots of PD headed to you, although I'm sure those people have already figured out how lucky they would be to have you. Prayer chains are working for Rees for this next week, as well.

Glad to hear you are all having fun outside! :sunny:

Has anyone ever subscribed to Tour Guide Mike?? I was thinking about it for our family gathering Jan 07.

Lynn

Lynn -- I've used him for July/August vacations, as well as for December and was very pleased with his advice, although it did take quite a while to sort through all the info.

First of all I would like to say that it is great to see everyone posting again. I have missed seeing a lot of you.

:grouphug: To kate for option 3. :grouphug: Denise for the job. :grouphug: Rees for the surgery :grouphug: Davis to have a quick recovery. If I missed anyone specifically then here is some extra :wizard: :wizard: :grouphug: :grouphug: just for you ;)

I ended up taking Tiffany to the vet again today. They are confident now that she has the immuno dificiency disease, although they aren't sure which one. Apparently the treatment won't change even if we spend $100s on testing. She will now be on prendisone for the rest of her life. Thankfully it is not an expensive drug and we will be changing the dosage until we find the minumum effective dosage for her. Right now she has white pusicules (is that a word) on her anal area and a big one on the tip of her tongue (that has got to hurt). It will probably take a week or so for the sores to go away. I had our male in the car the the Vet (the new one) agreed to look at him too. She does not think that he is at a point to have him put down which is good news as we have been struggling with that decision. She does however feel that his back legs will completely give out by the end of summer or fall. When that happens we will have no choice but to put him down. He is so mentally aware and wants to be a puppy, but his body is just giving out. She also gave me a prescription for another med which will work in combination with his current arthritis med. I will have to get a price for it at a drug store. Hopefully it isn't too expensive as his current meds are $60/mth already. After the Vet visit I had to completely vacuum my car as it was covered in dog hair :sad2:

The kids are in bed, but Nick keeps getting up complaining that he isn't feeling right. He has had a little cough and has a nasty cold sore in his nose so I won't be surprised if he is sick in the morning. Summer can't get here fast enough for me.

On a bright note, I held our last den meeting of the year tonight. We just have the Pack Picnic on Saturday then we have a break until September. I may try to get them together this summer to do an aquanaut unit, but I'll wait and see on that one. I need to put the awards together before Saturday, but at least I know it is the last time for this year!!! :teeth:

Ok, I am a litle slow in checking this out, but I saw a lady at Animal Kingdom while we were there the other week, and her shirt said Kate on the back in Minnie ears, and the front said something about "watch out we are taking over the World" Immediately I wondered if it was THE Kate. Today, two weeks later I finally checked Kate's designs, and they were definetely hers. So Kate, was that you at Animal Kindgom, near Expedition Everest on the 19th around 10AM?
:welcome: :welcome: Teresa Joyce to the DDA :)

OMG!! You are not going to believe this! Here's a story of how small our world is!!!!

After TeresaJoy posted about seeing Kate, I sent her a pm when I saw that she was from Michigan. I told her I was from the U.P. and asked where she was from. She sent a nice note back saying where she lived, that her husband had attended Michigan Tech in the UP and where did I live in the UP. I sent another one saying that Chuck & I had met at Michigan Tech and the years that we were there. She sent another note saying that her husband was there at the same time. What a small world, she says! She went on to say that he used to hang out with Bob & Liz x, Dave y, Chuck & Vicki z. Imagine my surprise when I opened the pm and saw my name in the middle of her post. I couldn't read it fast enough.

This is our long lost buddy & his wife. We attended their wedding. I just asked Bob a couple of months ago if he had their address because I wanted to start sending Christmas cards again and their last one came back. He didn't have it. I just got off the phone with him and he is excited that I've found them too.

Bob & Liz were our neighbors in married student housing when we first got married. Dave, Bob & her DH were best buddies. Chuck was a grad student and worked a lot of evenings & Liz was a nurse that worked nights. I can't tell you how much time we all spent together over those first two years of my marriage. We hung out all the time. After we moved to Holland MI, they all met there to hang out one year. We got together for their wedding and Dave's wedding. These were very close friends. I'm so excited to have made contact with them again. I can't believe I did it through the DDA.

Can you tell I'm like this right now????!!!!!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:
That is amazing. :thumbsup2

I'm impatiently waiting for her to come back on and read her pm. I don't think she has been back yet so she doesn't even know that I'm the Vicki from the Chuck & Vicki that her DH used to hang out with. It was cool looking at pictures of their wedding from her website link in her signature. I looked to see if we were in any pictures but we weren't. Chuck & I did some reminiscing about it tonight. Her DH was so happy when he met her and we were all so happy that he found someone.

 My not so fun filled wacky weekend.

History: We own ½ a rental house about 4 hours north a place that is opening a new ski resort in another yr. Our best friends own the other half. We have had the house for just about 2 yrs. We figured it would be a good start to our future. VV (nickname for female friend) BV (guy). So VV is a loan officer and helped us get a fabulous loan on this house.

:car: Fast forward.. P)(*^L T%$#(^:&&^$%@ WOW was that fast or what.

Due to the area not having property managers we managed it ourselves. :rotfl2: (STOP LAUGHING) Bad idea? ;) Yes, bad idea. ::yes:: We found someone to manage the place, well after 1 yr she gave up. I have come to find that this area is full of lazy people. We call to have something fixed and it takes forever and they don’t fix it correctly. We try to get good tenants and they have all turned into nonpaying slugs.:confused3

:car: Fast forward again.. (&^$&%$@@^%@L T%$#(^:&&^$%@

We have now decided we are done with this place, :guilty: ski resort or not….. this place is WAY to painful to keep. So off we went to fix the fixable, paint the paintable and trim the trimable.

Friday morning I drop off the dog at the doggie hotel, I pick up Ellie from school, pack like a wild woman, post to the DDA my Hot Military night out, jump in the mommymobile and drive off by 4:30. :woohoo:

I go to Sacramento to p/u my nephew :tilt: (teen boy help), then it’s up I-5 to Chico. Long ride, but the girls do well. Come to find out I could have gone a faster way, but not the best roads, oh well, things are going fine so far.

Get to Chico and stop for gas, a few things from the store and starbucks. On the road again (feel free to sing), just can’t wait to get on the road again. Up the winding mountain in the rain, no sleet, no rain, no its snow now oh rain again. Did I say we stopped on the small, winding mountain road after Bethie LOST :scared1: :crazy2: her cookies :scared: from what must have been the last full week of food. Note to self… DD gets car sick on winding mountain roads, give DD drugs before EVER going on a road like that again. Just over an hour after we left Chico we pull into the driveway of the house we are staying at (not the house we are working on).

SO the rest of the weekend was just a wacky as my drive up there. The workers we hired didn’t show on Saturday due to rain, snow and sleet all day long. The kids couldn’t go out and play on Saturday either (VV and BV have twins) I watched all four kids most of Sat while VV helped the guys. We burnt dinner and just gave up and went to bed early. Sunday went much better, the sun was out, the workers came to help and the kids got to play outside. We went out for dinner (great pizza) went to bed early again and it was on the road home by 0930. I had to drop of my nephew in Sacramento so it took me WAY longer than the others. I got home around 4:30 after stopping to visit BIL while giving him back his boy. It was a nice break from the car, but both girls got good scratches from the cat who had a strange toode that day.

Got home sat outside, had a salad for dinner outside, watched a movie with DH and then to bed early.

The house will be up for sale w/i a month and I hope it sells soon, I love the area it’s in, but I no longer like the house.:sad1:

Now that was a long read.:coffee:
Sounds like a loong week-end. :wizard: I hope the house sells quickly so you don't have to deal with it anymore.

Hi everyone. I hope you all had a relaxing holiday.

I've been reading along but haven't felt like posting. I don't feel well, but I can't really pinpoint what is wrong. Probably a combination of the heat and fatigue. I also have a headache that won't go away.

Lots of exciting things have been happening to DDA's the past few days. My thoughts are with all of you and the DDA kiddos.

We spent the holiday cleaning and organizing. We mananged to get a lot done but unfortunately there's still more. I'm just so slow these days.

Christopher asked the question over the weekend. "How do babies get in the tummy?" I was unprepared to answer so I distracted him with candy  . I feel like I should answer him as honestly as I can but without giving it all away. He's only 5. I've seen a few "scripts" for this, but they are a little more graphic than I'd like to be. Anyone had to answer this question at such a young age? It's not that I don't want him to have the information, I just see this being an exciting new topic for him on the playground and I'm sure other parents wouldn't appreciate the free education, KWIM?

Dawn -- here's hoping you get lots more energy and feel better. I'm sorry -- haven't had that conversation yet, so I can't help. I do need to get better prepared, though. Here's some :wizard: to you and the baby.

Paula, I'm sorry to hear about the house issues you are dealing with. I hope that it sells quickly. Chuck has talked about buying rentals and I'm not the least bit interested for all the reasons (issues) that you listed. I don't want to worry about what kind of tenants are in there.

Teresa - I am glad you joined in - and how cool that you and Vicki know each other!!!

Rumors are correct - I went to the doctor today and surgery it is - my doctor isn't a surgeon and in fact - no one in his practice can do the surgery so he is sending me to another surgeon - who will tell me 1 of 3 things

1. Sorry - your knee is too screwed up and I can't help you - let's pray this is not his answer b/c then basically I am screwed and will have to wait until my knee has a total breakdown and I have a knee replacement

2. I will give it a shot but I can't promise you anything - which again could someday result in knee replacement but at least give me a chance at relief and recovery

3. You are the perfect candidate for this surgery and it will fix everything - OBVIOUSLY this is what I would love to hear from him!!!

So that appointment is next Friday morning - so if you all could keep me in your prayers for then

Denise - I hope you get the job - that would be wonderful!!

Paula - leaving your kids gets easier and easier and in the end makes you a better parent!
:wizard: prayers for option 3.

A little PD for Davis please. He vomited in the middle of dinner (twice- very fun) and is running a 104 fever now. He's missing his class meet at the park tomorrow am now. He's pretty miserable. I just ran down to finally eat some dinner and then I'm headed back to check on him. John's watching Piglet's Big Movie with him right now.
:wizard: :grouphug: for Davis hope he feels better soon.

Denise - Did you see that they have changed PhotoPass so that you can no longer add borders, signatures, etc to your pictures. I am guessing that the CD process will go much more quickly now as there won't be a line of people adding things to all of the pictures. Just thought I'd mention it in case it affected you plans for your last morning since I know you all really like Chef Mickey's.
Oooh I am soo disappointed as I liked all the borders, etc. :sad2:
