The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 7

Well, a former English teacher (although not my own) has given me an assignment. So here it is -- my long-awaited (humor me) review of The Outsiders .

I must admit first that it's been several years since I read the novel, so not QUITE the strong response you saw from Pride and Prejudice  It was very good, although we decided that Tom Cruise looked a bit funny before he became so attractive (which, in turn, was before he became so kooky). Matt Dillon was definitely a cutie, and I was given ample time to be ready for a scene in which he "almost loses his towel". Don't worry, it was a really quick scene -- we didn't see much ;) I think had I seen this movie first, I would not have been as fond as Emilio Estevez  I don't think he's a good thug :)

Um... other than that, I unfortunately don't have the attention span at the moment to write about the social aspects, etc -- but I will say the cinematography was very beautiful!

{I think that my grade would be EXTREMELY sub-par, based on the above content}

The company I kept, however, was excellent! :thumbsup2

{And since I'm really not getting graded (as far as I know), that's NOT sucking up!} :teeth:

I'm heading to bed, I haven't felt so good today, aweful headache which I think is sinus related and a general achy feeling. Since I don't have time to be sick I'm sure that I will be 100% tomorrow (or I'll hunt down so meds to get me there). I will try to check in before we leave, but may not have a chance to check in until after work Sunday night. I was hoping to find out if Pal Mickey made it to Denise in one piece, but she has disappeared so I guess I won't know tonight. Oh Well.

Deb
I hope you have a good weekend and that the weather cooperates. Here's one more shot for you.... :wizard:

Good night all!! After work tomorrow Terra and I are picking up the rental car for getting to the airport the next morning (makes an early flight so much easier if I can get a good rate). After Phil gets done at his doctor's appointment, I'm hoping to talk Phil into taking me out to dinner for my birthday/Mother's Day before we go. So, in case I don't make it back online tomorrow...I'll talk to you all Wednesday after we get back. Have a great weekend everyone!!!

BTW - Phil had an appointment today with the oncologist and she said that his blood counts all look good. The MRI on his spleen didn't show much change from the one she did over three years ago. So...the good news is that so far everything looks good. His spleen still has overactive issues which could lead to problems later, but there are no signs of lymphoma or other nasty words like that right now. The oncologist doesn't feel the need to see him for another year when she wants to retest everything so that sounds like a good sign too.

The only thing of concern is that some of his other blood work is a little funky. For example, despite taking Vitamin D supplements, his Vit D levels are low. So, the next stop will be an endocronologist to see what's up there. The leaning is hyperparathyroid, but I have no idea what that means so I'm just kind of going along with the flow. I guess we'll see in a month or so after that appointment.

Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. I could tell that Phil felt noticibly psychologically after his appointment so things are defintely looking up.

Have a great time!!!!
PD for Phil.

No, I will not post in greenthis time.

Not yet, but it'll happen. We sign our bridge loan next week, and my fingers are crossed we won't have two house payments for very long. I know this is all meant to be...there was no way we could pass on the new house! :goodvibes

Thanks for asking! And thanks to everyone for your continued :wizard: for us!

Amy :)

PD for the old and new houses

Well since it is nighttime it is dark and very dark.

Supposed to rain into the weekend. That upsets me cause I have been doing a Clean Sweep getting ready for a big yard sale that the Rec Center Sponsors. Plus I might not be able to use a truck that was promised to me.
Will have to change my plans and do a yard sale here instead if the weather stays crummy

PD for good weather! Best of luck on the yard sale, big or small.

This review had me laughing because Cassidy just finished The Outsiders and the teacher showed the movie. She came home all ready to discuss the distinctions between the two (like we do for most movie/books) and I had to admit to her that the last time I had touched either one of those was 20 years ago. The above would be my review from memory!! :rotfl:

denise - that thread is feeling the full force of the DDA

I don't think that anyone else will have the nerve to post another picture or mean comment!!!

I really think the mods should shut it down

Yeah.... I really do tend to do that with movies, especially if I read the book. But tonight I'm beat! I am apparently quick to fall out of the homework routine ;)

Did I teach you nothing today?!! That was Rob Lowe who almost lost the towel. I knew I should've hit rewind and pause!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I also have to discuss Jennifer's willpower around a brand new package of Golden Oreos...she only ate two! In her company, I only ate two, too, but I'll admit I ate a few more after she left.

Amy :)

I'm off to bed too. Tomorrow at school they are doing "Muffins for Mom" in the cafeteria for breakfast, in honor of Mother's Day. So I get to go in with Nicholas and have breakfast with him before heading off to work. Fun!

Good night!

Yes, but then it would have been fuzzy.

i'll just have to watch it again! I think I might still think Matt Dillon is cuter. Hang on, I'll be right back

I  that machine!! There are always at least 10 people in line at our post office yet I can be in and out in 5 minutes thanks to the machine. And that's even with Terra pushing the buttons and putting on the priority stickers.
Half the time I got there is even a line at the machine. The other offices don't have the machine. I have taken to having them do priority mail pick ups thus avoiding the post office for the most part. Except tomorrow I must go to get stamps for the invitations I made tonight. Hopefully there will be no line at the post office or at the machine.

I'm back as the paint is drying and the invites are printed. Gotta stuff them in the envelopes and lick. I hate the licking part, anyone have a tongue they want to loan me.
