Hi everyone.

Jennifer - I'm so sorry about your arm. I hope it isn't too painful. Congratulations again, btw.

Denise - unfortunately there is nothing I can do or say to make life easier for you, so :grouphug:

I hope everyone is having a good day. This morning in downtown Fredericksburg we have what is called The Great Train Race. I guess it is because it starts at the train station, and it is a one mile run, sponsored by a local running club, for kids. Each age/sex has a different heat. Nicholas ran at 11:15 against all the other 6yo males. There must have been, and I'm guessing, 75 or so kids in his bracket. I found out today that this kid of mine can run. Not only did he finish the mile run but he did it in 9 minutes. I think he came in around 20th, give or take. He even surprised himself. We drove the route last night and he saw how long it was. At the end of the race there are all sorts of refreshment stands and bands playing/dancing. It was a fun morning. Then we went to the nursery and I got a bunch of hanging baskets for our front and back porches. Now our house has some color! :teeth:

Congrats to Nicholas! Lots of my students run the Great Train Race or the Caboose Race too. Today was perfect weather for the run too, wasn't it? Kind of cool and the rain held off until time for our concert ;)

I am definitely missing a gene! I looked at him and thought he was gorgeous but then I moved on... :rotfl: it's the same with my friends kids - at any age... when they're babies I sit and stare at them fascinated and when they're older I love to play with them... but I don't actually want one of my own... people always say I'm so good with kids that I'll change my mind when I'm older... which bugs me a bit because I know I won't, I just look forward to being an aunty :)

Nothing wrong with that, Clare! You know what is right for you! It's not up to anyone else. Besides, I bet you'll be the best aunty ever! Being an aunt is one of my favorite things! I just love to spoil my sister's kids. It's even better than spoiling my own (I don't have to deal with the aftermath with my sister's kids).

It was wonderful weather today! I'm glad it wasn't as warm as it was yesterday. Alyssa opted out of running in the Caboose race. In her own words..."I'm too clumsy." That girl can trip over a speck of dirt. If she ran we would have ended up in the Emergency Room for sure!

How did your concert go?

Hello Everyone! I hope everyone's Sunday was WONDERFUL! Bob and I bought a new Toro lawn mower yesterday. Our other one broke last weekend, and it would have been the cost of a new mower to get it repaired. So now I might just run the gas out of it and see if a scrap metal shop will take it for some cash. The bad news was that we had to use or Disney money to buy the mower! :( Glad I counted all that change last week! Oh well, I still have around 140 days to stock pile up on change again.
Other than that, nothing exciting has been going on. Getting the yard ready for the summer...planning on installing a bocce ball court sometime in June. Shouldn't be too hard, just a few rail road ties and sand. :) Have to edge the driveway, refinish the picnic table and benches and find a spot for a new bird feeder, redo the trim around the screen windows in the back porch...wow..I write this down and it looks like it'll take all summer... With the thoughts of a party in the middle of June, we'll be able to get most of it done by then. (crossing fingers...)

If anyone is heading north to Geauga Lake or Cedar Point or Cleveland Zoo, don't hesitate to give me a call! I'd love to meet any of you in my neck of the woods!

We are big Bocce ball players here! We have 2 sets; a plastic set that we use when the kids want to play, and Alan picked up a set when he was in England 4 years ago that is made of steel. Very heavy and beautifully made!

We don't have a bocce court, we just use our yard, or the common area behind our house if the neighbors want to play. DH would literally play all day long if he could. Several of our neighbors feel the same way, so he's always got playmates!

What movie is playing tonight? :teeth:

We watched Prince of Egypt. Katie has been studying the story of Moses and the Ten Commandments in Sunday School, so this was a fun way of sharing it with her little brother and sisters. They all loved it, and they told me the cake was yummy, too!

I haven't played in years but got sucked in while camping a few years back. I figured a few rail road ties and sand shouldn't be too hard to put together. Then I have less grass to mow! :thumbsup2

How does it feel to have a baby in the house again? I hope you don't sleep (or not sleep) like you have a baby in the house.:rotfl:

Great pictures, Jennifer. It looks like you had great weather. You should be proud.

Ok, so we DID go to the Cheesecake Factory, but I think I still might need to go again sometime, as it didn't turn out quite as planned ;)

The whole in-laws thing is a really long story, but let's just say that between them (and really Kyle), the day started out pretty crappy. 20 minutes before we were supposed to leave for Oxford, I was in tears and nowhere near being ready. I REALLY considered not going, but thought that might have been a bit impulsive. We did almost skip the CF though, so Kate - you weren't too far off. Instead, we went, everyone was there (except my dad who couldn't make it :guilty: ), and I pretended not to be grumpy.

It wasn't so much that anyone did anything out of the ordinary, I just too often cave to pressure frmo certain pushy people. And it drives me nuts, and SOME days out of the year (my wedding, and maybe even graduation to name a couple) you shouldn't push me. It's just not nice :p

I'll post pictures later. Overall, I'm glad I went. The whole "family interaction" part of it was wasted, so I'm still a bit disappointed by that... but the ceremony was nice, the weather was gorgeous, and the food wasn't too bad either :)

Side note though, that made the day oh-so-much better {sarcasm alert}

Denise -- I must have been either having sympathy lapses in judgment ;) (love you :teeth: ) or someone took my brain, too!

I was getting ready frantically, since we were already running late. I set my curling iron on this ledge in the bathroom, and it started to fall. Well, I reacted quickly but kept my head on straight enough to remember it was hot, so I ended up awkwardly trying to catch it, and banging my elbow on this corner nearby. It hurt like heck, but I assumed it was a funny bone type thing, that it would quickly subside.

11 hours later, it's diagnosed as what is probably a radial head fracture (elbow/arm), and now my right arm is in a sling! :rotfl:

It wasn't bad enough to displace bones or anything (Type I - just a 'hairline' type fracture in the bone), so the sling should only be a few days and the pain a few days longer.... but how stupid an injury to try an explain!
Jennifer so sorry your day did not go as planned. But I did want to say CONGRATULATIONS ON GRADUATION

Well...every once n a while I toy with the thought of trying for one more. (Bill is feeling faint) :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint:
