This is unrelated  except that I went to college at 17, also! Everyone thought it was nuts, because I had to still get parent signatures on occasion! :rotfl:

My sister had to take a note from mommy on her honeymoon!! :rotfl: My parents had traded in a week at their condo to a resort in Florida somewhere. Somehow it came up ahead of time that she was only 20. At first they said she wouldn't be able to stay there without a parent. When she reminded them that she was on her honeymoon and would not be bringing her parents along, the resort agreed that she could stay if she brought a note from her parents stating that she was on her honeymoon and allowed to stay there without them. It had me rolling when she first saw me! (This is the same sister who was asked for her mommy's permission to have a pizza sample at the grocery store when she was 16 because she looks so young. She whipped out her driver's license and asked it that would do.)

I'm really confused about Pal Mickey. I don't have one, and Vicky has me listed as one of the traveling Mickey's. Did I miss something in all those pages I have to catch up on?

Ha, Jennifer on the siggie. Love it.

Rees did well at choir. He refluxed once and got a horrible look on his face, but I gave him Mylanta and it worked. Putting him to bed soon. Hope to be back on later.

Thanks for all the good wishes for Jeremy's birthday. He had so much fun. We got a cake that had Mickey and Minnie on motorcycles. The decorative icing was green....maybe not such a good idea! LOL The kids were covered in green dye from the icing after eating their cake. Looked like they had green beards.

He got lots of motorcycles, cars and airplanes. All his favorites. But there was one particularly noisy car that he fell in love with. Of course :) My mom gave him his very own flashlight. He loved that too and was running around shining it wherever he could find a slightly dark spot, including in our mouths. He told us we have something broken in there. I think he meant our throats. :lmao:

I'm glad to be back posting and I'm trying to keep up!

:rotfl: my real name is Harriett and I am a tad hormonal right now! :teeth:

How fun! Don't you just love how they always prefer the loudest of the toys. Terra loves to do the same thing with her flashlight. We also have to shut ourselves in the bathroom for long periods of time so that she can shine it all around.

It was fun watching you grow up! When I'm at my parents' this weekend, I'm going to look for the slides of our trip to Disney in 1973. Then I'll have to take them to be made into prints, but eventually I'll share.

Yes, we decided that you should have to buy one to contribute to the cause. :lmao:

Actually, I meant Deb (my3princes), Theresa (babytrees) and me.

I think Deb offered her Mickey for the travelling band so maybe she just got the wrong "D".

Should I be concerned that one of my 3yo's favorite Muppet skit is basically an alien mating ritual. :lmao: She loves the Kuzbanian Galio Hoop Hoop (I have NO idea how to spell it) from the Florence Henderson episode in Season 1 (if anyone has the DVDs and knows what I am talking about).

Ok everyone, Amazing Race is on, my computer is too far away from the computer (because I don't have a laptop!) so I'm outta here for a while. See everyone back at 9! Unless Lost is really really good...OK. See everyone tomorrow!

Well, it is going to be difficult for me this year when Scott goes away to school. Both of my boys will be so far away. And right now Mike is deciding whether to take a job at home this summer, or possibly a job in Atlanta. That would mean I wouldn't see much of him this summer. But even though it is so sad, I am happy for them so that makes it a little easier. Scott will be starting college while he is still only 17, although he will turn 18 a few days later. The time goes by so quickly, but by their senior years, it became obvious that they are ready for some more independence. And that's not such a bad thing, but there will be lots of tears when we drop Scott off in August.

I still have 3-1/2 years before my first goes, but I still got teary eyed reading this. I remember a column that I read when he was first born about the struggle when they leave for college. The kids are fighting for independence but at the same time scared to get it. The parents know that they have to help push them out into the world all the while wanting to hold on to them like they were young. And then there is the one about how children are like kites (I think by Erma Bombeck) that makes me cry every time.

So clare's post about when we all came along inspired me - here is a list of when people joined the original thread (up to the first 20 pages) then I skimmed to see when the real designing began for Midnite and I and when the chatting began - I could be wrong as I didn't read anything - but here is a quick synopsis

Joined in May

And followed up with this a few posts later

Then followed by this:

And on page 36 – I made this statement

On page 37 – I posted the first off topic post – about Julia & Belle – it was related to the first design I ever did – someone asked how Julia got to ride the teacups with belle

Then on page 39 – it was all over when I posted this:

On page 169
Chaoscent dubbed us the Disney Design Addicts

And it appears that Marti and I started the first conversation shortly after with a discussion about (Of course) DVC!!!

You can look here to see when you first found the DDA!!! (if it was the original thread)

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=826364&page=1&pp=15

then we can see when everyone started posting!

I never knew I was such an enabler :bitelip: I helped start a brand new addiction. I'm so bad. :rolleyes1 :teeth:

I'll look for my receipt and get back with you. I think it was $70 for all 5 of them in the set but can't remember for sure.

I'm putting aside money for the set! I don't remember seeing them last trip, but I'll be looking in August.

WOW -- I can't believe how cool this was! It doesn't surprise me when people joined, and I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Kate and I were the first conversation! We've come a long way baby!!!

I'm waaaayyyyyy back there and trying to catch up. After being sick for so long I finally gave up and went to the doctor this morning. Lung infection and sinus infection.... so I now have amoxycillan. Should start to be better soon. I've missed all of you. I'm going back to catch up now. See you soon - it'll probably be like two weeks by the time I get caught up!!!!!

Beth, That is so true. Even Mike, who is in his second year of college, and 20 years old, still calls for advice, which makes me feel good. But then if I tell him what to do, he usually disagrees, or doesn't want to hear it, then next thing you know he's calling for advice on something else. I think that gaining their independence is a struggle for them too, but they definitely don't want to admit it. It kind of reminds me of when they are little and they first start wandering off from you, but then they keep looking back to make sure you are watching them. Oh great, now I've got myself tearing up! All the stages are fun, but sometimes it takes a little reflecting to see the good parts.

I bought ours at the Fulton Shop at POR when I was there. I saw them several different places. They are for the HCOE so should be there in August. They have each of the parks separately or the set with the additional Disneyland DVD. It cost the same (or very close) for the set as it would have to get the 4 individually.

I'm watching both too, but I'm on the laptop (so I can Dis on commercials). Lost is supposed to be really good tonight!

ETA: I'm sending you a PM.

Katrina stayed home and went to the community college for the first two years. She calls us almost daily now that she is away at college. I told her I talk with her more now than when she lived at home. She usually starts with "Mom, I need some advice". After several times of her getting upset with my opinions, I stopped giving her advice and started saying "You are an adult and need to be happy with the decision." I do give her pros & cons of both sides (usually praying that she goes a certain way). That has been the hardest thing for me to do. Sometimes, I so want to yell & say "Are you stupid? What are you thinking? There isn't a decision to be made here! There's only one logical answer."
