My sister had to take a note from mommy on her honeymoon!!
My parents had traded in a week at their condo to a resort in Florida somewhere. Somehow it came up ahead of time that she was only 20. At first they said she wouldn't be able to stay there without a parent. When she reminded them that she was on her honeymoon and would not be bringing her parents along, the resort agreed that she could stay if she brought a note from her parents stating that she was on her honeymoon and allowed to stay there without them.
It had me rolling when she first saw me! (This is the same sister who was asked for her mommy's permission to have a pizza sample at the grocery store when she was 16 because she looks so young. She whipped out her driver's license and asked it that would do.)
except that I went to college at 17, also! Everyone thought it was nuts, because I had to still get parent signatures on occasion!
My mom gave him his very own flashlight. He loved that too and was running around shining it wherever he could find a slightly dark spot, including in our mouths. He told us we have something broken in there. I think he meant our throats.
But even though it is so sad, I am happy for them so that makes it a little easier. Scott will be starting college while he is still only 17, although he will turn 18 a few days later. The time goes by so quickly, but by their senior years, it became obvious that they are ready for some more independence. And that's not such a bad thing, but there will be lots of tears when we drop Scott off in August.
I helped start a brand new addiction. I'm so bad.
