I think everyone else is off watching American Idol. We have that on in the Meyer household. Chuck just got home from work. He's been putting in some long hours at work lately. He had to be home to watch AI though. I watch with them but am not as into it as they are.

Lung infection and sinus infection.... so I now have amoxycillan. Should start to be better soon. I've missed all of you. I'm going back to catch up now. See you soon - it'll probably be like two weeks by the time I get caught up!!!!!

I hope the meds have you on the mend quickly! I was afraid that you were still feeling terribly when you weren't around much.

Robyn, thank you. I get my smart ____ (insert another word for donkey) ability from my mother. I find it makes some people (including yours truly) smile in the not so great times.

I do believe that laughter and smiling can help make life better.

I was a flight medic (I flew on planes and cared for patients while they traveled to another hospital) for a few years of my AF Reserve career. I always found that the patients enjoyed the smiles and laughter.



I do hope I don’t offend anyone. If I do, please let me know.

I am not easily offended so again thanks for the laughs.

I wondered if something was up. You haven't been around much. I'm so sorry that you aren't feeling well, but now that you have the right meds, you should be back to your sassy self soon. How's Paul doing? Is he feeling better?

I think I'm a candidate for worst mom of the day award. Lizzy lost her first top tooth last night and was SO excited. We have a special tooth fairy pillow she uses. She came in my room crying this morning that the tooth fairy didn't come.

Well, the last time she lost a tooth it was in the middle of the night and she left the tooth on my vanity. My DH went to wake her up that next morning and I heard her say the tooth fairy hadn't left anything so I put it on my vanity where the tooth was.

Last night I had put the $1 coin on my vanity but was wait for her to fall asleep before I put it in her room and then I forgot/fell asleep myself. So this morning when she came in crying I told her "maybe the tooth fairy left it where she did last time". We told her the tooth fairy must have been real busy and that since she lost the tooth so late in the day she wasn't really "on the schedule" so the tooth fairy didn't have time to search for the tooth. She seemed to accept this "explanation" fine.

Don't be so hard on yourself, when she has kids of her own she will understand!! When Emma's bottom teeth became loose my inlaws kept telling her that the tooth fairy would bring her a can of sardines. I don't get this at all and really have not gotten a good explanation as to why this is what the tooth fairy would leave someone! Anyway, Emma looses her 1st tooth and it was pretty late at night. So of course there were no sardines in the house and the stores are closed. She woke up the next morning in tears that there were no Sardines. Go figure, I would have been , so I covered as best I could and said she must have ran out. So 3 days later when she lost her 2nd tooth she got 2 cans of Sardines and ate neither of them.

They have some adorable ones at the Disney Store....hopefully the stuffed animals will still be on sale. I got 2 for my girls baskets and they were $5 a piece!!

Got the Spring Finger puppet stuffed animals, $5 each and a few other small things, that were on clearance of $.99.

That's right people! Kate started our friendly insults and this was before we even met!

8/2: I respond to an "off-topic" character question.

8/5: I post about a t-shirt sale at Children's Place. This is the same day that Kate stood me up at the mall. Some story about Nick possibly swallowing her wedding ring... (he didn't! )

8/11: I direct everyone to Kate's official birthday link (see I can be nice to Kate too!)

8/17: Kevin posts a design that I don't like and he and Kate engage in friendly (flirtatious!) banter...I still meet Kate at the mall the next day.

8/22: I officially begin making fun of Kate as often as I can...this crack had to do with her bragging about creating 193 custom designs.

10/30: I accidentally "get" post 9000...one that Kate had been trying to get. This led to a frenzy of off-topic posts, mostly between Jennifer and me (comparing Cincinnati to Cleveland). Becky chimes in and politely reminds us to stay on topic, as to not annoy other posters.

I am going crazy...since Bill's dad died in Feb. his mother has been doing very poor (mentally). Every day there seems to be a new problem, delusion or paranoia to deal with. Some days I have a hard time dealing with it.

Hi, everyone. Thank you so very much for the prayers and calls. Rees had a good nights sleep and was able to go to school today. I've talked with the GI doctor this morning and am waiting to hear back from him on whether they will schedule the Upper GI ASAP or do an endoscopy instead. I am certain he will need the Fundo repaired quickly, and John and I both want it scheduled as soon as possible. We don't want to see Rees in that kind of pain or do permanent damage to his esophagus.

Again, thanks to you all, and I will keep you posted.

Glad to hear Rees had a good nights sleep. for a fast resolution. Your family is still in my thoughts.

So that's how it started! Those are definitely things for the DDA history books. Between Kate and your post, I think we have highlighted the beginnings of the DDA as we know it today.

My first post on the old monster thread was #436 on July 17, 2005 at 5:06 p.m. I had "lurked" for awhile before then, and had read all the posts from the beginning.

Just so I don't get in trouble with the queen, I will remind everyone that I am leaving tomorrow for Virginia and won't be back until late Sunday night. I probably will not be on the computer that night, and have to work the next day, so the earliest that you might hear from me is Monday night. It will probably take me days to catch up again. I'll miss "chatting" with you all and keeping up with you all.

Have a happy Easter or Passover, as the case may be.
