OK...I am behind...don't think I'll catch up..so what's the deal with Pal Mickey? Is he travelling all around? Can I still sign up??

I am going crazy...since Bill's dad died in Feb. his mother has been doing very poor (mentally). Every day there seems to be a new problem, delusion or paranoia to deal with. Some days I have a hard time dealing with it.

Kristine

There are going to be three DDA travelin' pals. Mine, Theresa's, and Deb's. I'm working on the schedule. We are also getting him packed. Didn't know such a little guy needed so much stuff!! :rotfl: There will be lots of time to sign up as he has lots of places to go and people to see. I'll add you to the list. Send me a pm if there is a special time you'd like one to visit - WDW or some other trip.

Sorry to hear about MIL's problems. It is amazing how the death of one can so change the quality of life for the other. I'll put you & her in my prayers.

Vicki, Your girls are so close in age to my 2 boys. Scott will be 18 on Sept.2 and Mike will be 21 on Dec. 3rd. 2 milestones for us this year as well!

Wow!!!! They are close in age. Amazing that both of us have the same milestones to deal with this year. How are you handling it? Becky got held back in 2nd grade so I get one more year with her at home. That is helping. Katrina is going to school only 1-1/2 hours away so I still get to see her regularly. That also helps.

On the topic of the Disney shortbread cookies: We love them at our house!

My kids love that they have chocolate on the back, and favorite characters on the front! We've had Mickey/Minnie, Donald/Daisy, Pooh/Hunnypot, Chicken Little/Fish Out Of Water, and all the Princesses in Spring Bonnets. They are darling. They smell wonderful, but I haven't been able to try them, yet. I've got another 20 pounds to go before I dare. But they are so cute to look at!

Ok, you have me convinced. Where do I find these at Walmart?

Well, it is going to be difficult for me this year when Scott goes away to school. Both of my boys will be so far away. And right now Mike is deciding whether to take a job at home this summer, or possibly a job in Atlanta. That would mean I wouldn't see much of him this summer. But even though it is so sad, I am happy for them so that makes it a little easier. Scott will be starting college while he is still only 17, although he will turn 18 a few days later. The time goes by so quickly, but by their senior years, it became obvious that they are ready for some more independence. And that's not such a bad thing, but there will be lots of tears when we drop Scott off in August.

They are great. They take you to every attraction around the park and show you some of each attraction, parade and show. Mickey and the gang are the tour guides featured in the Magic Kingdom one. The MGM one has a reporter following a couple around that are supposed to be famous or something. The Animal Kingdom one is led by Journey Jack, a world travelling tour guide. Can't remember who they had in Epcot. I'll be watching later tonight and can post that. I'll pull up the menus from each to give you a little more detail as I've only watched them and haven't looked at the extras other than the trivia track.

I got the 5-DVD pack that included one for each WDW park and one for Disneyland as well. We also bought the LaNouba DVD after we saw that show. Talk about amazing!!!

If you don't mind me asking, how much was this set? I'd love to have someone get it (May DDA trippers? :rolleyes1 ) if possible!

DDA, I could use some serious prayers for Rees (and me) please. Here's some background so you'll understand the seriousness of this issue.

When Rees was born, he was our healthiest until day 2 when he crashed. He was so sick, and the doctor's didn't know if he would make it or not. They could not get him off the ventilator, and it was extremely touch and go. He had horrible time feeding, and was diagnosed with severe reflux (GERD). He literally spent weeks at a time in the hospital, with one stay 45 days just before his first b'day. He vomited up to 40 times per day, was in agony, on all types meds, had so many nasty procedures done it breaks my heart, was on feeding tubes... oh, it was just horrible. We would call the GI doctors at 2am with him screaming in agony, refusing to eat at all, arching his back. We'd end up in the ER, get admitted again, go to the PICU. It was a vicious cycle and some very dark days. Finally at age 17 months he had a major surgery called a Nissen Fundoplication. A Fundo is a drastic and last resort surgery for these kids. They literally go in and wrap the child's stomach around their esophagus to physically prevent any acid for regurgitating out of the stomach. It has lots of side effects, and the kids are unable burp or vomit afterwards, so you must be very careful with stomach flu, food poisoning, swallowing pennies (ok, that is funny). It was MAJOR surgery. He was in the hospital for 10 days, has an incision from his breast bone past his belly button (looks like open heart surgery). Up to that surgery Rees was Failure to Thrive and only weighed 15 pounds. The reflux and long hospital stays and pain are a major reason he is developmentally delayed.

Well, 3 weeks ago Rees started refluxing again. He would wake us up at night saying his tummy hurt and point to his chest. He's back on all his meds, but they aren't helping. Tonight, it was absolutely horrible. He was retching, sobbing, screaming!!!!!!!! in pain for over an hour, arching his back, thrashing around in my arms because it hurt so bad. We finally got some meds to stay down. John and I are both panicked and have been sobbing all night. It has brought us back to the worst time in our lives. It was pure h*** and I can't believe it's starting again. So, it looks as if we will be going to the hospital for an emergency Upper GI in the next few days and possibly scheduling him for major surgery to have the Fundo repaired.

Please pray for my Rees. I can't believe this is happening to my baby again. I am absolutely devastated.

Oh, and John looked at me when we finally got Rees to bed tonight and said, "forget going back to school or work. Rees and the kids need you much more than we need money. God has you at home for a reason, and that's where you're staying." Thank goodness I have a fantastic husband who puts the kids above anything else. Needless to say, the whole teaching school thing is on hold for a long while. Rees just is too medically fragile for me to be working full-time and not have the flexibility to be with him.
Denise I just read this plus the updates. Christopher had reflux really bad (though not as severe as Rees) and I remember the incredible pain he was in. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Christopher sends Rees a :grouphug:

I understand the being happy for them. It shows that we did a good job raising them and making them ready to move on. I also went to college at 17 and turned 18 during finals after the 1st quarter.

This is unrelated  except that I went to college at 17, also! Everyone thought it was nuts, because I had to still get parent signatures on occasion! :rotfl:

Kristine, I'm so sorry that you have to deal with all of this. It can't be easy, and I admire you so much for having the strength to do it! Take care and remember that May 18 trip is coming soon!

Tia - I'll head over to TGM in a few to check it out. I buy the park hoppers, but as you saw on my schedule, we really don't use them much. To me, they are there as a back up. :thumbsup2

Up - Sent a PM too! :thumbsup2

Re: Disney cookies...I've also found some at the Dollar Store. Last time I saw them, they had Tigger cookies (shaped like ice cream cones and chocolate chip flavored) and Mickey cookies (shaped like Mickey Mouse, and tasted like Nilla Wafers). They were in a bag, blue I think, and were only $1.

I'm in NE Ohio right now so this is to everyone in Ohio or PA...Did the storm hit you too or just us?! We had hail and major rain for the last 1/2 hour. My neighbor's back yard is a lake. Hail is still on the ground, and the sky is that yucky yellow color that reminds me of tornados. :confused3 (I HATE big thunder that just scares the snot out of you!!)

I'll look for my receipt and get back with you. I think it was $70 for all 5 of them in the set but can't remember for sure.

Thanks for all the good wishes for Jeremy's birthday. He had so much fun. We got a cake that had Mickey and Minnie on motorcycles. The decorative icing was green....maybe not such a good idea! LOL The kids were covered in green dye from the icing after eating their cake. Looked like they had green beards.

He got lots of motorcycles, cars and airplanes. All his favorites. But there was one particularly noisy car that he fell in love with. Of course :) My mom gave him his very own flashlight. He loved that too and was running around shining it wherever he could find a slightly dark spot, including in our mouths. He told us we have something broken in there. I think he meant our throats. :lmao:

I'm glad to be back posting and I'm trying to keep up!

I had an awwww how sweet moment with my girls last night that I wanted to share with all of you lamenting your babies getting older.

My babies are going to be 10 and 14 in just over a month and have been sleeping in the same, twin size, bed since the youngest was 2. This is by their choice as they do have two seperate beds. But the last week we have had hormonal Harriet in our house instead of our normal Cassidy, so I have made sure Abi is in her bed. Last night I go in to tell them to seperate and the hormonal one of the two said "Mom, please can she sleep here I promise we'll go right to sleep". After all the grief she has been giving her sister I had to have a moment and say awwwwww. These two spend from 9 until they are threatened within an inch of their life giggling and talking except when hormonal Harriet rears her ugly head.
:rotfl: my real name is Harriett and I am a tad hormonal right now! :teeth:

:grouphug: Oh Kristine, that must be so hard. I can't even imagine how much you have to go through to help with. You are a wonderful wife and daughter in law to do all that you have done for her and Bill.

I find them either at the entrance closest to the food section, or in the bakery department. I sure wish that I could eat them, but for now, I'll just enjoy the smell. They smell so much better than most store-bought cookies.

Yay! MidNite is back and going to stay! Don't worry about keeping up! We just love to see your posts. When one of our family is gone, we all worry (at least that's what I was told when the queen lectured me about going away and not telling anyone where I was going.) It's nice to have people worry about us, though, isn't it?
