I tried to break the ice with the dancing sheep/marshmellow/ghost but it didn't work. I'll pm you my schedule, we'll see if we can meet up. Maybe one of us will have "The Pal Mickey that Travels the World" with us to share with the DDA! Two birds with one stone!!!

That sounds great! Since I get to work at 6:30 I should have my schedule pretty set by mid morning tomorrow so I'll be looking for yours.

Tia - how was the first day with the new hours?

It wasn't too bad for me. I didn't have to get up too early since I got most everything ready the night before. Just up, dressed, and out the door. I think Terra and Phil had a little rougher time, but hopefully it will settle down some. She did sleep until 8:30 which was better than her previous 6am waking. I have been putting her to bed at 10 instead of 8 and that seems to be helping. Plus, she spent half of the afternoon saying "Mommy will be home in any minute." Hopefully, after a few days she will settle into the schedule a little better and things will be good. As for me, I am now 33 minutes past my bedtime, but since I have finally finished a 3 day attempt to watch Peggy Sue Got Married on OnDemand, I had better call it a night.

Nite all!

Not a lot of time, so I hope I get everyone I want:

Jo - good luck with the house

Lynn - welcome home!

Chanon - thanks for the TGM info... I will have to check that in the a.m.

Kate & Kristine - many thanks for the update on MidNite

Amy - I am so sorry to hear about your poor cat

Dawn - thanks for letting us know about Penn and her daughter

Tammi - I have a parent who's email is 2dogs3cats... you animal listing on one of your posts made me think of them!
When you traveling? Are you going to be around the time Tia and I are there?

Does anyone have Midnite's Pop Century design or any other Pop design? I told Lizzy I would make it for her because I made Joe ASMo's last year.

Thanks for any help!

I got Emma to go to bed awake tonight. :cool1: I still sit on a stool next to her until she falls asleep but even this is a huge step.

Today all 3 kids went to the dentist for cleanings. It was her 1st visit. She wouldn't open her mouth for the female hygenist but she did for the male dentist. :teeth: All 3 got a great report. Lizzy is about to loose her 1st top tooth (has lost 4 on the bottom). I don't think it will hang on until our trip so she'll have a toothless smile. :teeth:

The Pal Mickeys that we have are the original version. They've been to WDW 3 times so I know they like to travel. :thumbsup2

Deb

It sounds like we have two travelin' pals. I would like mine to get to as many places as possible. If he gets to WDW that is great but I want him to see the country as well. I'd also like him to get to DL sometime. Anyone that is seriously interested, send me a PM with your name, address, and any dates you have something special planned that you'd like him to attend if possible. I'll put together a schedule for the next year. Deb, I'll include your pal if you are serious as well. My pal wants to play with some little kids!!!

Mine can be included if there is interest. I would be happy to send him along. Someone suggest a Pal that went on trips to WDW. Maybe he could do that. If people already have their own then he can stay here. I'm ok with whatever is decided.

Hi. I feel pretty silly lamenting about this, with the more serious problems we all face, but I figured you might be wondering where I've been all day, so here goes:

We lost one of our cats today. We noticed Mickey was acting a bit odd on Saturday, but it was easy to assume he was at odds with Lucy, the other cat. (Lucy is the alpha cat and she typically puts him in his place.) Yesterday, we noticed he was walking funny, so I made him a vet appointment today for when Kevin got home from work, so someone could stay home with Alyssa. Well, when Alyssa and I got back from getting her pictures taken this morning, Mickey couldn't even walk, so I begged Kevin to come home early and I rushed him to the vet. He had a bladder infection and though he survived the process of unblocking him, his heart gave out after the procedure. I feel terrible. He was only seven. And Alyssa keeps asking where he is. :guilty:

I'm going to turn the computer over to Kevin, because I asked him to design our Easter card, but I'll try to check back in later tonight and respond personally to some posts from the last 36 hours...

Amy

But he was part of the family!! I am sorry for your loss. :grouphug:
I am always the one who finds our pets when the pass on. Did you know a common cold can kill a guinea pig? Neither did I....the girls want a pet when we move but I hate the loss.

Amy, so sorry about your kitty. Jitters, our tabby cat who is now 13, got completely blocked with kidney stones and had 2 surgeries and spent a month at the vet. $4500 later, he's doing well, but it was so close. The only reason we kept trying was for the kids. I'm sure Alyssa is going to be very upset, and I know you are. Hugs to you all.

Ok, now I'm beginning to think I've went 'round the bend (as one of my elder relatives used to say) but I'm going to tell you my idea anyway. One of you, don't remember who, commented that it would be cool to have a DDA Pal Mickey similar to Flat Stanley. It got me thinking. I am probably not going to get a chance to meet most of my DDA friends in person, so I was thinking about having Mickey travel around and meet you instead. You'd be responsible to take pictures, sign his passport, get him a souvenir and ship him on to the next person. I'd provide the money for the souvenirs, pictures (unless you have digital) and shipping. He is going on the DDA trip, Japan at the end of June and WDW with me in December.

If I can't meet you all, at least something that belongs to me can share in your lives for a little while. I'd add to his website with where he's been and post pictures.

Is this totally nuts?

I was going to say he could come to me in July when I go to meet Glynis but he's got a better offer already!! :rotfl2:

Once yours is done travelling I wanna send mine.

Vicki,
I love the idea of Pal Mickey. He'll have to stay a while here as the kids will all want turns sleeping with him. But you're going to doom me, and make me have to buy one for us on our next trip after they see him! I was smart and kept them away from PalMickey last trip.

BTW, when are you going in December?

Well, it's been an emotional day for me! A neighbor of mine lost her oldest son this week to a tragic car accident. She is absolutely devastated, since her second son killed himself not 9 months ago. Right after the suicide, her husband had a massive heart attack (fortunately he survived), and then she was diagnosed with several small brain tumors. When I heard the news about her oldest son today, I just started to bawl. How much more is one family expected to handle? I feel so badly for Connie and her family, and wish there was more that I could do. Our congregation held a special prayer meeting for them today, and then we were all told that another member of the congregation is having surgery on Wednesday to have a majority of his colon removed, and a third member is taking her oldest daughter to a rehabilitation center this week so she can get therapy for a drug problem that is related to some sexual abuse she suffered.

I feel like I've been crying for hours. I probably won't be checking in here, much as I've volunteered to help with dinners for these families this week. I feel like next to praying cooking is one thing I can do to help. If you've got any spare pixie dust and prayers to send my way I'd appreciate it for the Romney family, the Folkman family, and the Loser family.

Thanks.
Keeping these families in prayers.
Also a bunch of :grouphug: .

There are lots of us! We'll have two! I'll find out who wants him for WDW and we'll make sure they have one of the two. This is really cool. Thanks for volunteering yours as well. Then those that want him for WDW should be able to have him. Sometimes, they might be at WDW together with two different families! That would be cool too! I'm putting together autograph books, passports & some other stuff for them. When I get them done, I'll make a copy for your pal and send it to you if you are interested. I'm also working on some kind of permanent id for mine. I'll have to talk to Kate about a special t-shirt design for them. I have blank t-shirts on order. This is going to be so much fun! Something to look forward to besides camping and Disney. Woohoo!! :cool1:   :cloud9: :woohoo: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :teeth: :yay: :bounce: ::yes:: :rockband: :charac2: :jumping1: party: :jumping3: :tigger: :mickeyjum Can you tell I'm excited? How am I going to get to sleep tonight?

The more kids the merrier. They would definitely each need to have cuddle time & to sleep with him. You know how Mickey loves kids. I may end up purchasing a second one so that I can continue to have a travelling one and still enjoy having one at home. I really want him to travel so that I can request post cards be sent from wherever he goes (I'll supply the money). The DDA crew heading down in May will probably end up with money so that they can purchase an extra one while they are there. :rotfl2:

If all goes well, Dec. 2-6 is when we are hoping to go to WDW. We would spend one night at MVMCP and spend the rest of the time checking out the decorations at the resorts & parks. Not 100% set yet. Trying to make the DVC decision first. I am very close to booking our flight with or without a DVC decision. Keeping a close eye on the fare in case it starts going up.

Ok, here's what we do for Easter.

The day before Easter all the cousins (35 live here in town) get together for an Easter egg hunt. We then have a large potluck dinner while the kids get all hopped up on sugar.

When we get home from the hunt, Alan and I gather the kids in the kitchen to make Resurrection cookies. This requires some reading in the Bible while we make the cookies (anyone who wants the recipe, feel free to PM me).

Next morning, we all get up and get ready for Church. This is one of only 2 times a year that the kids get special outfits for Church, so they are really excited about it. The Easter Bunny has not arrived at this point, so we really focus on a more religious side of Easter. While we are at Church, either DH or I sneak home to hide the baskets. For the last couple of years, we've grown a grass centerpiece, and the Easter Bunny always leaves us some specially dyed eggs and candy in the grass centerpiece.

When the kids come home from Church, they are allowed to find their Easter baskets while I finish getting dinner on the table. We eat a dinner (usually ham, au gratin potatoes, vegetable, rolls, jell-o beans, and dessert, and then DH hides our special Easter Eggs. These are a dozen eggs that contain symbols of the Crucifixion and Resurrection. We then hold an egg hunt, and go over the Easter story.

After the story, we eat the Resurrection cookies.

We've tried to find a balance between the religious side of Easter and the secular side. It works for us.

There was a neat idea in Family Fun magazine this month where parents would "spider web" the house. Each child had a different color yarn, one end attached to the basket, and the other attached to the bed. In the morning, they had to untie the end on the bed and wind the yarn until they find their basket. That sounds like fun, but a little bit too much work for me.

We usually spend the Friday night before Easter dying eggs for our big hunt. That's the big thing we do each year. Every family dyes at least 3 dozen eggs, and we also buy candy. While the daddies keep the kids busy in the house, the mommies hide the eggs and toss candy around the yard. We don't even try to hide the candy. Our goal is to make sure all the kids have fun and find as much stuff as they want. Then we divide the kids by age (1-5, 6-8. 8 and up) and they are sent to the yard little ones first, the next group after a minute and so on. They hunt and hunt and have a ball.

We've also done Easter bonnet parades with everyone making a hat and showing it off.

That's all I can think of now.

Got to run to book club!
I'll come back later.

That sounds like so much fun! I might need to work some of that into my traditions.

When are you going to see Glynis in July? Maybe, he'll be back in time to go with you. Since you are my twin and Glynis is my Jiminy Cricket it would be appropriate for you to spend time together with him!
