Oh, Vicki, thank you. And John is the BEST daddy in the entire world. From day 1, through all the heartache, tests of our faith and marriage, the wonderful and the sad, he has been there for it all. He never misses anything they do-concerts, plays, recitals. He comes to all doctor's appointments, cleans the house, does the laundry, irons, helps cook. he is a FULL partner in every word. And he's my best friend. Now, yes, we definitely have our moments, but I am so lucky to be married to a man who loves me and our kids wholeheartedly.

He sounds more than wonderful!!!

Well, it's off to bed for me to get some sleep. Chuck just came down to say "don't forget you have a husband". He is feeling a little neglected tonight because I was downstairs working on some paperwork & chatting. Luckily, I gave him his 15 minutes of attention this morning so I really am going to bed to sleep!!!

When are you going to see Glynis in July? Maybe, he'll be back in time to go with you. Since you are my twin and Glynis is my Jiminy Cricket it would be appropriate for you to spend time together with him!

Not set in stone yet so I will know soon....looks like just after the 4th of July....gotta find a house and settle in to it also!!

Speaking of Tinkerbell, Have any of you read Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. It is really good book and is a prequel to Peter Pan. It explains how Peter meets Cap'n Hook and Smee and how Tinkerbell comes to be. It also explains how Hook lost his hand and many other things. I recommend you read it.

Becky

Sounds interesting, thank you for the info.

So I let my insane jealousy of my 4 yo get the best of me and I permed my hair!! I was bored and wanted a change and Julia has been telling me more and more she wants her hair straight like mine - I decided it would be better to make mine curly like hers - so Dawn you are getting your wish and can see a curly haired mom for Julia!! :teeth: I also think having curly hair is more believable for me now that I have Julia!!

Here you can see my crocs - AND I would like to point out that NONE of these pictures were taken at the front door!!!

I'm back!!! I know I haven't been around for a couple of weeks. I was getting ready for our Spring Break Cruise. We had a great time and the boys loved it. The weather was great and just a little sunburn on the top of the shoulders. I have everyone on here and hope everyone is well. Has anyone heard from Denise about any storm damage from the weekend storms in Atlanta?? We didn't have any in Gwinnett County but I did hear that Denise's area had some was thinking about them when I saw the news report at the airport on Saturday.

If I missed anything big please fill me in!!!

Lynn

Hi Lynn,
Haven't seen ya in a while.

Ok, I just finished filling out all 20 million pages of paperwork to register them for Kindergarten tomorrow. I hope this summer lasts forever.

Hi all,

on page 718 post # 10759 ( I do not know how to show the post) I talked about the Concert Band that my DH plays for and how they are celebrating their 150th year in existance. Tonight was the premier viewing of the film that was made about the Band. The young man who filmed and edited it is going to Franklin and Marshall College and he has played with the band for probably 6 years. We still are waiting to hear if it will be played on PBS. If it is, it will probably be just regional. I did manage to get a dvd for our own. Right into the film, the second person interviewed was of course my DH :cheer2: :woohoo: It was really good and completely explains how the band works and how much of a small community the band itself is.

This next part Elin you will appreciate because I made sure I wrote the name of the pieces played correctly.

Then after the movie, the band played. The first march was National Emblem. Then they played two songs by Sousa. The first one was a waltz --La Reine de la Mer, very slow but moving. Then a rousing march by Sousa-- Solid Men to the Front. Then they played a piece called Man in the Ice. This was a score to the movie of the same name. Maybe the movie didn't fare well, but I gotta tell you, the piece blew me away. Steffy came too and she could not stop talking about it. The next piece was Third Suite by Robert Jager and then the finale of course, Stars and Stripes Forever.
Steffy saw me get very emotional and fumble for my kleenex and I had to tell her the story of the one time that it was played at a band member's funeral. Playing the loudest and hardest was the young woman's father on the Bass Drum.

So the next thing will be the really big celebration in August and this will be Black Tie, and yes I am going to dress to the nines. That will be one picture I will definately post. Cannot wait.

Terry

It was quite the night! I really enjoyed the music. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

What a nice night.....even if you did break out into the almost ugly cry..

:sad1: :sad1:

I think I logged off right as you came on last night!!!

Where was everybody, I couldn't sleep, finally dozed off around 4AM, I have got to stop doing that, then I was back up at 6:45!!! In that short period of time I managed to have some very bizarre dreams though!!!

Drama, in my house yesterday!!!! It was just a bad day!!! I won't get into it because it is just 2 long drawn out stories, but I was SO frustrated I couldn't sleep!!! You know how I hate confrontations of any kind and I am currently aggravated w/ teachers, parents, HUSBANDS, and cousins to say the least :furious: !!! Sorry for the vent, I was just really frustrated and couldn't sleep!!!! Hopefully the weekend gets better!!!

Is It May 18th YET!!!!!

I hope you had a better weekend and that your week goes well.:wizard:

We did a photo album and life video for their 25th anniversary. We also had everyone that attended the party write a little note and we included that in a scrapbook. It is very nice. I will probably just add to that.

Sounds like a winner!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Hi. I feel pretty silly lamenting about this, with the more serious problems we all face, but I figured you might be wondering where I've been all day, so here goes:

We lost one of our cats today. We noticed Mickey was acting a bit odd on Saturday, but it was easy to assume he was at odds with Lucy, the other cat. (Lucy is the alpha cat and she typically puts him in his place.) Yesterday, we noticed he was walking funny, so I made him a vet appointment today for when Kevin got home from work, so someone could stay home with Alyssa. Well, when Alyssa and I got back from getting her pictures taken this morning, Mickey couldn't even walk, so I begged Kevin to come home early and I rushed him to the vet. He had a bladder infection and though he survived the process of unblocking him, his heart gave out after the procedure. I feel terrible. He was only seven. And Alyssa keeps asking where he is. :guilty:

I'm going to turn the computer over to Kevin, because I asked him to design our Easter card, but I'll try to check back in later tonight and respond personally to some posts from the last 36 hours...

Amy

Amy sorry to hear about the loss of your :cat:
Mine is 9 and really showing her age lately.
I don't know what I would do without her.
Take care. :grouphug:

Good morning, everyone. Boy, it has been quiet around here since Friday night. Hope everyone is well. Kids went back to school. I'm sitting here filling out all their paperwork to register them for Kindergarten tomorrow. Where did the time go?

DH and I are talking about me going back to school to get my certification to teach school. I have a BS in Biology/Chemistry/Physics and my BSN in nursing (yes, I've already gone back to school once to get my 2nd Bachelors). This would be one night a week for maybe up to a year, but then I'm a certified teacher and can teach elementary, maybe Science in middle/high school. I think teaching is definitely my best choice for working and having the lifestyle I want (be home for summers, holidays, no weekends, etc). The thought of going back isn't fun for me, but I think that 5 years from now when they're approaching middle school I would be so glad I did it now. My mom thinks I should. My mom and SIL teach elementary, both of my grandfathers had PhDs and taught college, my grandmothers taught high school, so I come from a long line of educators. I hate to "waste" my nursing degree, but nursing is just not conducive to what I want family wise.

Any opinions? I know we have several teachers in the DDA.

Denise! I love this idea. I think you would be perfect for it!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

No. Brian and I have very different tastes in names. We decided there is no sense in arguing about it until we know the sex of the baby. Then we only have to argue about one sex :teeth:

Christopher wants to name it Andrew if it's a boy, and Emily or Elizabeth if it's a girl (can you tell Clifford the Big Red Dog is their class mascot?).

I vote Elizabeth! She is a saint after all and no I am not speaking of my Elizabeth, she has a bit to go (or calm down) before we call her a saint.

I can tell you that both my girls let me know their names before they came.
With Gabrielle, it was hte first name I would see every time we looked at items with names on them. Coffecups, pencils, note pads etc.

With Elizabeth... DH took a picture of a ski run sign that said
Ellie's Run -->
<-- Liz's Run
Ellie is the nickname for Gabrielle and Elizabeth was only two month in my belly. Now we didn't see the picture until I was 7 months along because DH didn't develope the film, but if that is not a child letting you know what her name was.... then I don't know what is.

Best of luck.

Still reading haven't tried to sleep yet. I know where Y & S is.

Speaking of Hershey, if anyone is going to Hershey or Hersheypark this summer please let me know. I have a season pass to Hersheypark. Even if I can't go for the whole day I might be able to go for a few hours to meet up with a DDA.

Becky
