Prayers said! I worked through a semi-similar sitation in December; it was a pain. If you ever need to grab a drink to vent send me a PM!

Thanks for the offer!!! Where in the Metroplex do you live? I work in downtown, but now live in Plano.

Well, at least you won't have to wait long. When I interviewed for my first teaching job, I interviewed in early June, right after school had let out. I didn't hear that I got the job until early August. I had all of a week and a half to prepare myself for my first teaching job. Talk about hectic. I got to the school, found my room, and walked into a great big empty!!!! No desks, no books, no supplies, etc. It seems that after the old teacher announced her retirement, the other teachers cleaned out her room. I had to scramble to find stuff for my students. Ugh! Be glad you only have a week to wait!

I am VERY glad! I was surprised to hear that, as just getting the interview set up took weeks! I can't imagine how stressed out you must have been!

Finally caught up - now I can post my great news! I succumbed to the lure of free food and booked a short trip (August 31-September 5 at Pop) and will be taking my granddaughter (17 yesterday) with me. Got all of the ADRs I asked for. I planned this on such a spur of the moment that I may try to change a couple, but so far I have Kona Cafe for breakfast our first morning, LTT for dinner the second night, Chef Mickey's the third night, Prime Time the fourth night and Tony's for lunch on the last day (I already know I'm going to try to change that to CP for a late breakfast instead). Now I need to start watching airfare.

I was going to try to go to the DDA meet in Washington, but I know the DDA will forgive me for choosing Mickey instead (the dollars just won't support both). Can't wait to start making shirts and doing the "real" planning again!

congratulations!! Another DDAer surcomes to the pressure. We are a big bunch of enablers. :teeth:

That sounds so cute!!!! Good job Matthew!!! Was this a one-night only thing or will he get to enjoy the spotlight again???

They did the play yesterday and this morning for other second graders, and tonight was the parents performance. At the end of the performance, the teacher got a card and flowers from the class.

On a sad note, this was the first outing for my friend Gail, who is officially a widow. I sat with her and helped out with her daughter, but it was just sad. When Marissa (who played Goldilocks) came out to sing her song (La, La, La I'm so Sorry) I think I saw Gail crying. I knew it would be hard for her, but I found it very difficult for me too. The three kids seem to be doing well, but Gail didn't look great. She only lost Rusty two weeks ago (today) and this was the first time out in "public". She's far too young to be a widow.

Utah Shakes! I have a friend that worked for them a couple of summers ago. My degree is in theatre design and I miss getting to do it...I have done very little since graduation. What does he do for Utah Shakes?

 Also, it's nice to meet you! I was wondering who you were when everyone was concerned about you.

On that note. It is so nice how everyone watches out for one another! Its just one big happy family here with the DDA!! :cheer2:

Wow! Someone who's heard of USF!!! My father is the founder of the Festival, Fred Adams. He and my mom thought it all up back in 1961, and then worked to bring it about. 45 years later, it's still running, and doing better than ever. My husband does all of the commercials for them, and does archival video of all the shows.

What did your friend do at USF? If you have an interest you should definitely come check us out! It's an incredible place, but then maybe I'm biased! Naw!

I, too, am grateful for how this group sticks together. I was gone when you joined, so let me just say welcome, and I can't wait to try your cake recipe. I'm making it for my family this Sunday. We always have a big dessert in the evening while we watch our family movie. Your cake sounds so yummy that I put it on the top of my list of things to try.

Amy. The pictures look great and I can tell you put a lot of time into her party. She may not know how to thank you now, but it will mean so much to her as she gets older. You are an amazing Mom.

Deb

Thanks...I'm hoping she'll be grateful for all the Disney trips she'll never remember too! :goodvibes

Have a good night!

I know Donalds doesn't get the best reviews, but you are right that I have a HUGE Donald Duck fan. I have CP booked for an early b'fast and dinner. I'll decide closer to our trip which one to cancel.

Denise -- we have always loved Donald's, so hopefully you will have a great experience there, too. We've had CP for every meal, and liked them all. I think I lean towards breakfast because I love getting in the MK before it is open to the crowds. It is WONDERFUL to walk down Main Street without anyone else around...... We've done 8 a.m. adr's and been through in time to stroll around the castle to whichever rope drop we are interested in.

So I came home from getting Ellie at school and found a bag that said, “Open me Paula”.

Inside was a bottle of Parrot Bay (cool looking bottle) and a small bouquet of flowers with a note.

Paula,
Please don’t be mad at me, it was just a little fun. It always made me smile when you’d ask for the Patriot drink.
See you after work.
Love,
Mark

I guess I can’t stay mad at him long. :love:He came home during his lunch to bring me a gift. :love2:

He's a keeper.....

Don't get me involved in this. I know which of the whole lot of you can make my life most miserable. Besides, I've never seen an unflattering picture of my lovely wife.

Okay guys - I am in need of some DDA PD (or just kind reassurances that I will get through things...)

Within the span of 1 week at work, we have seen a 4-person department dwindle to 2, leaving just my director and me. We had to fire an assistant that only had been on the job for 5 weeks because she was just a walking disaster (that was last Tuesday - and was a big relief when all was said and done), and then Friday afternoon my assistant who has been with me for over 2 years closes my door and tells me that she has been enticed literally across the street to another firm to perform a job function that she has never expressed interest in! This is a girl that has professed her love for legal recruiting ad nauseam, has wanted all these opportunities to take charge of things (which I've been giving her), and now has left me high and dry, holding the proverbial bag, with less than 6 weeks remaining before I have to shepherd 28 interns through a 14-week summer clerkship program. I won't bore anyone with the details of what all this entails, but basically (particularly now w/o knowledgeable, seasoned help) I will be working 80+ hours a week as a glorified adult babysitter, while all the time keeping a smile pasted to my face.

I could really just use any prayers that you've got lying around that I can get through this, while also not losing my sanity. This part of my job is also an extreme sacrifice on my DH's part, as he rarely sees me during the summer, and I'm concerned about putting him back in this position again.

ETA: And, as inconsequential as it seems, we are also slated to celebrate my Dad's 64th b-day with him in early June at my parents' timeshare in Kauai. I may have to cancel that trip because of all that has happened/is happening, which has upset EVERYONE in my family greatly. I'm not really supposed to take vacation during the summer because of my responsibilities (my director will be in Europe for 2 weeks at the same time!), but when we booked this last summer, it was no question that the 2 assistants could have manned the ship for that week...

I'm having some anger management/pity party issues!!!!

I think you are entitled to as many pity parties as you want to throw! I will definitely keep you in my prayers. Hopefully this will resolve itself as soon as possible. I wish there was something more that I could do! I will just keep sending you
:wizard: for a quick and happy resolution.

Good luck. We're here for venting!

Steffy - RUN - Don't walk to Walmart to buy Blue Bunny sherbet and some Dole Pineapple juice. It is so great, very close to the original. Both Paul and I agree that this is a great hold over... but we both like the real thing!
