Kate -- you might know this with Steve having some past connections with homebuilders.... but they still build plenty of houses without basements around here!? We were SO surprised! :confused3
Really?!?! That surprised you?

Not having a basement around here would ABSOLUTELY hurt the resale value of your home - homes on slabs do not sell well!!

No I know!! It surprised me that they DO build them WITHOUT basements! Lots of them! I'm with you.... to us, a basement is as important as a freakin' roof! :rotfl:

So, now that our trip is over and the party's over, I guess my next project is to start cleaning the house! We do have a friend of the family who has expressed interest, but we're trying not to get our hopes up...yet! I know he has called a bank to find out his financing options, and we're hoping he and his wife will come see the house this week. We still have the termites, but obviously they're being treated, so hopefully they won't be turned off by that. Please keep your fingers crossed for us! :wizard:

Amy :)

Fingers and toes crossed and PD sent your way!! pixiedust: pixiedust:

Fisher has a whole line of homes that they sell on slabs - they are called Maple Street Homes - everytime Steve would have a zoning approval on these - people came out in droves to protest them

Marci - I made this skunk costume for Nicholas a few years ago. I took a black hooded sweatshirt and sewed a round piece of fur to the belly and a strip of it on his head going down the back. Then I took black and white fur, cut out a long strip of each, sewed them together and stuffed it with crumpled newspaper for the tail. I took a piece of fishing line and ran it from the top of the tail to the back of the shirt to hold the tail upright. I made round ears and sewed them on the hood. I did this all freehand, without any pattern, just by measuring the lenght I would need. You could even hot glue it instead of sewing. Black sweatpants took care of the legs.

Too cute!

I didn't know Maple Street was affiliated with Fisher. I wondered what their deal was... they sort of seemed to pop out of nowhere. They were one of them that listed the basement as "optional", but there were others as well.

Yeah, I don't know. It just caught me off guard. Growing up here, the only people that I knew without basements were older folks (ie my grandparents), who came over for several sleepovers in the spring when those blasted warnings would come out. I just assumed any house built since then would have one. It didn't have to be finished or useful or anything (or even a full basement!), but just THERE, for safety reasons! I guess it's just engrained in our Midwest brains :rotfl:

Thanks to anyone who actually made it this far through the post! (I get a little rambly when I'm stressed or tired and I'm pretty much both right now so I guess you're all out of luck tonight.

You're in my prayers for a tough decision. I'd start looking for a job in SL now, and see what's available. Keep the current until you have one in place there. A SL job might even help with relocation costs. Keep us posted!

Sorceror Mickey appears daily (usually 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.) in a location on Mickey Avenue at the Studios!

Alyssa was playing with his tassels, just like she does with her stuffed Sorcerer Mickey at home. :goodvibes

Amy :)

That's a must find for us this time. The kids LOVE Sorcerer Mickey.

Here is a costume idea that may not even be plausible, but I thought I'd share. Kate and others have made designs using familiar parts of mickey, like his shorts, hands, shoes and ears. It would be neat to see a family wearing all black (shorts or pant, whatever), but make the top (shirt area) into one of the familiar items. I don't mean making T-shirts with the object on it, but actually make a shirt that looks like Mickey's yellow shoe or his red shorts or his mouse ears. I know it would be unique and if done properly it could be cool as those nights can be very hot. So all you creative minds, What do you think?

Deb

that might look really cool. oh, and be "cool" too!:rotfl:

Tammi..

Did you use regular thread or waxed thread for the mickey tye-dye?

I used wax, as I had read that it doesn't absorb the dye.

Hi Wonderful DDA...

I'm way too far back to figure out where. That is a job for Tuesday.

Just got back from New York, New York. Town so nice they named it twice.

The American Girl Place is amazing. My DGD walked in and was immediately overwhelmed. The photo shoot for her and the doll..... wonderful.

The little play that tells you all about all the dolls.... amazing.

Have your doll's hair set and made to look like yours.... adorable...

Dress like your doll..... cute

Dinner at the cafe when your doll gets a chair and served tea.... priceless....

What memories.....

And Disney might just suggest fast pass to the Empire State Buiding and the Ferry to the Statue of Liberty. You ain't seen no lines, until you see NYC lines for attractions. Lines don't rival Disney's lines, the make them look weeny..... The line for Mission Space can't compete with the wrap around the blocks line for the Empire State building. They line up two hours before they even get their ticket!!! Disney in the 70s..... :badpc: :badpc:

Nite, I'm done.

How much fun! Glad you had a good trip.

Denise...

what dates are you going?

does cr concierge guarantee an MK view?
