So I let my insane jealousy of my 4 yo get the best of me and I permed my hair!! I was bored and wanted a change and Julia has been telling me more and more she wants her hair straight like mine - I decided it would be better to make mine curly like hers - so Dawn you are getting your wish and can see a curly haired mom for Julia!! :teeth: I also think having curly hair is more believable for me now that I have Julia!!

Here you can see my crocs - AND I would like to point out that NONE of these pictures were taken at the front door!!!

So incredibly cute! I love the perm, Kate! It looks adorable!

My return was on Airtran so I don't have to worry about it

I have heard they will try to put you on another carrier - but who knows when that will be - it could be two days later - OH DARN!!!

I think the whole plan needs to be reassed now!!!

Kate,
I hope you mean reassessed!!!!

I heard Clark Howard talking about it today and he sai the other airlines will pick up tickets but only once Delta are gone, they will do stranded passengers first and then take it from there.

Tammi67 said:
I never thought about that. I wonder if they can check it at the gate. I will call the airline tomorrow and ask. Thanks.

They normally let you check your bag and it will go on the first flight if you are on standby, I heard them telling people this at the airport in Chicago 2 weeks ago - that was Delta

Last year, we went to see Cathy Rigby in Peter Pan. It was a wonderful performance. The original version of the Peter Pan movie was done by Mary Martin. I don't know of any actual theatrical versions that have a man as Peter Pan because they need to look like a boy and it is very difficult for a man to do that! They are very believable as Peter Pan!!!!

I'm going to interject here. Theatrically, Peter Pan is always a woman because the harness that you have to wear to fly would totally "ruin" a man, or even a boy. DH and I got engaged while we were in a production of Peter Pan. I wasn't Peter, but I did have to wear the harness to fly, and the official rules state that Peter has to be a woman who weighs less than 115 pounds. That kind of rules out a man. It is fun to fly, though, unless the techies who are supposed to remember to open the windows get so caught up in watching that they forget to open the window. Can we say SPLAT! Long story.

Here's an interesting bit of trivia. Walt Disney's Peter Pan was the first production to use a man as Peter.

I tried the Publix brand Pineapple Sorbet and it was good, not as good as the Blue Bunny and I mixed it with Pineapple juice and enjoyed it.

I can help with number 1 but not 2.

Here is something that we have done when I was a kid. Our version might have varied a bit.

Easter Story Cookies

A couple years ago, I discovered a recipe for Easter Story Cookies. I was intrigued with the idea and decided to try them out. What a wonderful opportunity this presented to further teach the truth of Easter.

Begin this recipe on Saturday, the day before Easter.

1 cup whole pecans

1 teaspoon vinegar

3 egg whites

pinch salt

1 cup sugar

zipper baggie

wooden spoon or a wooden meat hammer

duct tape or packing tape

Bible

Preheat oven to 300*F.

Place pecans in zipper baggie and let children beat them with the wooden spoon or hammer to break them into small pieces.

Explain that after Jesus was arrested he was beaten by the Roman soldiers. Read John 19:1-3.

Let each child smell the vinegar. Put 1 teaspoon of vinegar into the mixing bowl.

Explain that when Jesus was thirsty on the cross he was given vinegar to drink. Read John 19:28-30.

Add egg whites to the vinegar. Eggs represent life.

Explain that Jesus gave his life to give us life. Read John 10:10-11.

Sprinkle a little salt into each child's hand. Let them taste. Then put your pinch of salt in the bowl.

Explain that this represents the salty tears shed by Jesus's followers, and the bitterness of our own sin. Read Luke 23:27

So far, the ingredients are not very appetizing! Add 1 cup sugar to the bowl.

Explain that the sweetest part of the story is that Jesus died because he loves us. He wants us to know and belong to him. Read Psalm 34:8 and John 3:16.

Beat with a mixer on high speed for 10 to 15 minutes until stiff peaks form.

Explain that the color white represents the purity in God's eyes of those whose sins have been cleansed by Jesus. Read Isaiah 1:18 and John 3:1-3.

Fold in broken nuts. Drop by teaspoons onto wax paper covered cookie sheets.

Explain that each mound represents the rocky tomb where Jesus's body was laid. Read Matthew 27:57-60.

Put the cookie sheet in the oven, close the door and turn the oven OFF. Give each child a piece of tape to seal the oven door.

Explain that Jesus' tomb was sealed. Read Matthew 27:65-66.

Leave the kitchen. If you've been making these cookies just before bedtime, GO TO BED!

Acknowledge that the kids are probably sad that they've worked hard to make these cookies, and now have to leave them in the oven overnight. Explain that Jesus' followers were in sad when Jesus died and the tomb was sealed. Read John 16:20 and 22.

On Easter morning, open the oven and give everyone a cookie. Ask the kids to notice the cracked surface. Have them bite into the cookies. The cookies are hollow!

Explain that on the first Easter morning, Jesus' followers were amazed to find the tomb open and empty. Read Matthew 28:1-9.

HE HAS RISEN!

We also did various crafts and things leading up to Easter. Always made homemade Easter candy and Jello eggs. If I think of anything else I did I will let you know.

When I was in college I could never go home for Easter so I spent it with various friends families, who had younger children. So I will share some neat things I saw.

The one family put the eggs and all of the basket items and hid them out in the front lawn, inside the house and all over the yard. Things were hidden in the trees, the grill, in the pool, on the roof all over. Inside the house basically anything was fair game. I am sure it started out as a traditional egg and basket hunt when the kids were young but evolved into a full blown out scavenger hunt of the yard and house. Some things had clues on them for some of the better hidden items.

Another thing that was done at one of my friends house, was a spider web of the whole house. This was done completly inside but could also go outside depending on where you live. Tied at the bottom of each kids bed was a piece of yarn with something tied to it. This yarn was stretched all over the house, around the furniture, up and down the house, in various rooms, in the bathroom. All of the kids strings were webbed together throughout the house. Along the way there were various items attached to the string, at the end of the string there Easter basket was tied fast. This way it took longer than a traditional basket hunt. Also the kids had to work together and everyone had a blast. If you do this you might want to declare a no string zone. Also the closer you get to the basket the bigger the string ball will be so it won't fit through small spaces, it might have fit through when you started.

Becky

That's the same recipe for cookies that we use. My kids love to do the whole thing. It's become quite the tradition for us. I also make "Resurrection Rolls" for Easter dinner. I just use Rhodes frozen dough, and wrap it around a large marshmallow and bake as usual. They puff up but when you break into them they are empty. It's really cool!

Oh yes I remember Bozo! Where are you in the picture?

speaking of looking at old photos...

You fellow IL people will appreciate this...

Here is a picture of my Camp Fire group that I took to Bozo's Circus 12 years ago. Jonathan is on the bottom row second from the right. Tickets were impossible to get to Bozo...my mother knew all the guys in the show...so I went a bunch of times as a kid. :teeth:

Ok, I have an AP question too (I just want to be like Kristine). If I upgrade our 10day PH tickets in December, do I upgrade the first day I use the ticket, or when I have one ticket left? And then the APs would be good for a year from that date? Would they deduct the cost of the 10day PH, or just the cost of the one day PH that would be left?

If I did it on our last day, Dec 23, then I definitely could fit another Christmas trip in next year on the same APs and save a lot of money, especially if I took the kids for 4 days another trip too.
If they run anything like DL then they date it to when you first used the ticket,ie the beginning of your vacation and they count what you paid for the whole ticket towards the upgrade.

We do this too!! But it's only Easter and Christmas....which reminds me I still have to buy the book. Which ones do you have? I will say that my Easter book collection is pitiful compared to the Christmas ones.

At last count I have over 25 books. Some are just fluff like Strawberry Shortcake and then I have others that retell the Easter Story. I just go to the bookstore and look at what is being showcased in the Children's section. I'm planning on doing that tomorrow. I'll let you know what I get. Last year I bought "Easter Parade" It's simply the words to the song, all illustrated with a Father Bunny and his daughter. It's so darling, and it has the sheet music to the song at the back of the book. DH and Katie love to sing it together. I wish I could play the piano and video tape them at the same time.

It really smells good in my house (well, mobile home) right now. My son and grandson, and son's friend love my meatballs and sauce, so last night Tanya and I (the granddaughter who's going to WDW with me in August) and I made 95 meatballs, and I put the sauce together. It's been cooking in the crockpot for hours now, and it smells wonderful. Daughter, granddaughters and I will have spaghetti and meatballs for dinner tomorrow, and then I will freeze the rest and take it with me on the long-awaited very short trip to Norfolk to visit the rest of my family. Tomorrow it's baking oatmeal raisin cookies (grandson's favorite) and freezing them for the trip, then Wednesday night making pickle dip for son. We're leaving at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. I made a reservation at a motel in Delaware for Thursday night (it has an indoor pool so we can at least relax on the way down). Then we will finish the drive Friday morning and arrive early afternoon. Son doesn't get home from work until 8:30 p.m., but hopefully grandson will be off. If not, then we'll just go to VA Beach and walk the boardwalk for awhile! Then have to drive back on Sunday. I'll probably leave Norfolk around noon on Sunday and get home around 9:00 p.m. Darn work anyway. Retirement is looking better and better.
Have a safe trip and ejoy your visit. :)

:guilty: Now, I'm sad. Do they have to grow up so quick? My baby is already not wanting as many snuggles. He's only 1 and a half.
ETA: Forgot to mention your boys look handsome. :goodvibes

No way I'm cathing up this weekend as I have completed 8 hours of my 40 hour, 3 day work marathon. 32 hours of work left to go before I have three days off starting 8am on Monday. Just try to not post too much so I can catch up. :thumbsup2

I hope everyone in the Midwest is ok and did not get hit but any of the tornadoes.

Sending :wizard: and :grouphug: and :bday: and :welcome: and happy anniversary to everyone who may need it or be celebrating.

I promised some photos earlier so dh and I took a stroll down memory lane tonight. It was very nice as my parents took all 3 boys for a sleepover at their house tonight. So here goes my little stroll down memory lane with a disney time line:

This is a photo of Chris and I at the Alter on our Wedding day, July 25, 1992.

This is us walking into the reception
63925Deb_and_Chris_reception_web-med.jpg

Here is a photo of us with some large stuffed Mickey and Minnies. It is strange how the characters have changed so much in just 14 years, but then again so have we.
63925Deb_and_Chris_Honeymoon_web-med.jpg

And here was our deluxe honeymoon suite :rotfl2: Fort Wilderness. We had very little money at the time and neither of us had been to Disney before. It was just fine and started our Disney obsession. Who'd have thought then that we would buy DVC? I guess we're moving up in the world. :thumbsup2
63925Accomodations_web-med.jpg

This was our first Disney Vacation as a family. April 1998. Fort Wilderness Cabins that trip. Nick was 2 1/2 and after getting lost at MCO he was put on a leash for our sanity. Hunter was just 6 months on this trip.

63925Disney_April_1998_web-med.jpg

Here we are in April 2000. We stayed off site at the Holiday Inn Family Suites which is now the Nicholodeon Suites. It was less than $100/night for 9 of us. :thumbsup2 Nick was 4 1/2 and Hunter was 2 1/2. Amazing how our family had grown.
63925Disney_April_2000_web-med.jpg

Here we are in November 2001. We drove down with our Motor Home and stayed at Fort Wilderness. Most people, including us were afraid to fly at that time. This was right after 9/11 so the parks were pretty slow that year. We were there over Thankgiving and got to do the first MVMCP that year. It was great seeing all the christmas decorations and Osburne Lights.
63925Disney_Nov_2001_web.jpg

This photo included our newest family member. This was August 2003. Nick was almost 8, Hunter almost 6 and Colby 9 months. We drove down again, this time with our new travel trailer and stayed at Fort Wilderness. The shirts that all my guys are wearing were ones that I made. I couldn't get enough material to make one for myself, but those shirts got a ton of attention.
63925Disney_Aug_2003_web-med.jpg

Next trip was July 2004. Drove again with our Travel Trailer. Had to get another trip out of those APs. Nick was 8, Hunter was 6 and Colby was 1. Those are one of the T-shirts that I designed prior to meeting you guys :teeth:

63925Old_computer_1837.jpg

And this is last trip October 2005. We stayed at Pop Century and POFQ. Went to our first MNSSHP and had a wonderful time. Nick was 10, Hunter turned 8 the day we flew home and Colby was almost 3. These are our tie dye Mickey shirts.

.

Our next trip will be our first trip home. Wow how times have changed.
Thanks for humoring my trip down memory lane.
