The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 31

Denise -- strange as it sounds, it suddenly hit me yesterday that Mom won't be here for Thanksgiving. I guess I've been too busy to really think about turkey day. I got very emotional after Randy and my Dad left my office (they met there) to go to Grandparents day. Then when I got home, all of our outside lights are up on the house and fence, and I got all emotional again. (she loved lights and the whole Christmas season.) I just never know when it will hit me. The grief has begun to ease over the last year, but I can sure tell I have a long way to go.

I think that you've caught the biggest news of late - Jennifer and the babies! and Glynis' grandmother. Let's see what else I can think of...

Jennifer and Virginia are doing great. She seems to be kicking the jaundice at last.

Theresa is looking for a new job. She got some of her grievances heard so it isn't quite as bad sticking it out there until something comes along, but she's still searching.

Tammi, her kids, herBob and his DD are going to WDW together in Dec.

Bernadette and Debbie just got back from trips to WDW. Bernadette has some wonderful pictures and her trip report is kind of spread throughout recent posts.

Amy, Elizabeth, Janet, Tammi, Kristine, Lyndsay, Jo and Vicki have trips coming up soon.

Chanon bought her house from her mom not too long ago.

Tom has been listing dresses on eBay and is doing pretty well. The holiday roll rush is probably slowing that down for now though.

Clare has been joining us a little lately and we're all so happy to see her! She is starting a new position at her bank very soon and is looking forward to it. They just got back from WDW recently.

Paula was at Disneyland recently and, according to her postcard, had a great time. Hopefully things with her stepdaughter are going well as we haven't heard an update recently.

Vicki and Chuck bought DVC this week and they are planning their first trip "home" for Dec 13-ish. Chuck got the bug to go back and things moved quickly!

Lyndsay needs to get packing as it is almost time for her wonderfully big trip!

Jo is keeping busy with work. Ramiro has done wonderfully this school year and was allowed to promote up to 8th grade and get back on track with his age-level.

Beth is crazy busy with school and the kids activities. She is considering cutting back her classes next year as working every day is getting to be too much.

Deb is being her usual super-woman self and creating wonderful birthdays for her boys.

Amy pops in from time to time with glimpses of her two cuties.

Elin is keeping busy at work. One of her students was recently selected to perform at some really big-deal thingy (that's the techincal term, don't ya know).

Marci has been really busy at work. The boys got great reports from school and have been keeping busy with sports.

Jen's grandfather is nearing the end of his battle with cancer. He is in hospice care at the hospital and they are doing their best to keep him comfortable.

Becky is keeping busy with work and running all over PA for meetings (well, maybe not that far ;) ). She was in NYC last weekend and got a cool backstage tour of Radio City Music Hall.

Robyn is keeping up with her 3 cuties. Lucy had an ear infection this week so mom and dad are a little short on sleep.

Heidi is enjoying having her mom and sister living right across the street. Perfect location for all of them.

Terry has been working on getting her foot better and is hoping to avoid surgical treatments.

Stephanie is keeping us all laughing with tales of how Lightening McQueen isn't microwavable and the virtures of a child-lock microwave.

Karen is still looking for a job. She will be having surgery soon (or did it just recently happen) and is a little nervous about that, but we all know that she'll do great!

Anne Marie is enjoying her job at the Disney Store, but is hopefully remembering to bring some of the paycheck home instead of leaving it all in their registers. ;) They recently had a good day in NYC after missing out on The Little Mermaid due to Day 1 of the stagehand strike.

Janet is luggage shopping and dealing with the joys of having girls call for her son. Of course, if the girl could learn to call before 9:45 PM! I'm sure it would go over better.

The news from our house is not much of anything. We get to head to Branson and the Christmas celebrations at Silver Dollar City this weekend so I'm excited about that. The weather is supposed to drop down to the 40s as well so I'm looking forward to a nice "Christmasy feeling" will the sights and sounds of the holiday surround us.

(I tried to cover everyone, but if I left you out I am so sorry! My brain is fading fast, but I didn't want to forget the request since I already had once today.)

Wow, I'm impressed. I knew everything that you posted, but there is no way that I could have put it into one cohesive post. I bow to your retelling abilities. May I appoint you the official updater of the DDA? :)

I am up entirely too early...so here i am :)

Im working then probabaly headed back to hospice to see grandpa after work...Apparently, the nurses said it may be sometime today, so if that is the case, ill be leaving work early and not sure when im getting back..so have a good day all

Jen Please keep us updated and know that we are praying for your GF and your family. This holiday season will be extra difficult for all of you.

Mother just phoned. They spent the night int he parking lot at the grocery store because it was "too late" to go to my sister's house at 1 AM. :scared1: My sister was EXPECTING them!!!
They got a motel room but it was too smoky, so the OBVIOUS solution was to park in the lot of the grocery store near MY house and sit there for several hours. With the guinea pig.
I just buzzed them in the gate, so I have to go sort this out!:sad2:

Oh my goodness! I sure hope that DS has a good time with them today. :grouphug:

The 10 year anniversary of losing my dad was last Sunday (the 11th). There are still times that it hits me. On all holidays and big events (the girls graduation), I have several minutes of sadness. It does get less hard but it's not something that ever really goes away.

:grouphug: for all those that are dealing with the loss (or possible loss) of a loved one this year.

Tia, can I say I love you??   I just have a few minutes and couldn't possibly catch up today. I'm in awe.

Just a couple of things, then I will get on my way.

Glynis... I'm so sorry about your grandmother.  I had to go back to see what the news was. So very, very sorry.

:welcome: home Rees!!!:woohoo:

I hope I didn't miss you Lyndsay! Have a great cruise!!:yay: :yay: :yay:

My sister is here!:dance3: We sat up waaaayyyy to long last night, looking at Oprah's Favorite things, making our Thanksgiving dinner list and just catching up. We talk several times every week, but there is nothing like sipping wine in your pajamas and fuzzy slippers and just talking and laughing.:dance3:

We have to go find a fresh turkey. A frozen one won't have time to thaw. I can use my free turkey coupon to get $10.00 off my order. I can't believe with as much as we have to do today, my sister is still in bed!!! Crack of noon girl here...:hippie: :hippie:

We are working on our Black Friday shopping strategy. Since the outlet mall has midnight maddness, it has added an entire new dimension to our maddness!!!:santa: :santa: :santa: :santa:

I will catch back up. I'm back at Bernadette's first day of her trip report!!!

Well Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!:santa: :santa: :santa:

Jen- your family will be in my prayers today. Please keep us updated and be safe in your travels today.

Tia, what an AWESOME recap!

Also, I received my ornament today. Thanks Tia! I will have to post pics later.

Leighanna received hers too. Thanks Mary! She loves all of it!

I did get my packages mailed out today! I sent priority mail, so you all should hopefully receive them by Friday, Saturday at the latest!

Off to get a couple of things done before Turkey day!

I still don't know if I have to work tomorrow. They said that we will get a call if we don't have to go in. So far, no call!:sad1:

We normally do Thanksgiving at our house, but since MIL works at Wal-mart, and DW works retail too, they both have to be up at the crack of dawn to face the crowds! I think to simplify everything we will be eating Thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant. Not my idea, but sometimes my ideas don't count!

Have a great day DDA!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Bob and I are off to Detroit for the holiday (and leaving an hour early at that!) See everyone over the weekend!

When did I become a Griswald?:headache:

I called my mother to see if she is on the road yet. Nope. She just picked up her rental car. (BUT she did get a rental car instead of making the trip in her rickety old car, so that's one good thing.)
My sister answered my mother's cell phone and asked me if Mother had asked me about keeping the guinea pig here in my house.:scared1: Apparently my sister has a guinea pig. Instead of finding someone to feed it while they are away they decided to BRING the poor thing and now they can't figure out what to do with it when they arrive. I am sure Arabella would LOVE to snack on a guinea pig, or at the very least tip over the cage and chase the pig around. I am not going to offer to put it in DS's room because 1) he has been sneezing to beat the band and 2) I shouldn't have to provide livestock lodging. The sister they are staying with said they can put the pig in the garage but I guess Mother decided it would be more comfortable here with ME! I told her no.

Let me just pop on down to the tattoo place so I can get a nice BIG "Bad Daughter" across my forehead.:sad2: That's what this will turn into, because I am always the bad daughter.

Oh, Elizabeth - I'm sorry for all the drama! (Although I must admit, I did chuckle when I first read your post!) I hope that something about today goes smoothly for all of you, and that your mom spends some quality time with DS.

And I don't blame you for refusing the guinea pig - those things give me the creeps. One of the most miserable experiences of my childhood was the time I "bird sat" one of my friends' 2 parakeets for a week (huge cage and all). I vowed to never have anything but a dog after that. :scared:

HOORAY! Welcome Home, Chuck and Vicki! :goodvibes

I agree - welcome home! :goodvibes

Hi all...

I stopped to the DVC store out by me to pick up my member xmas ornament. I am guessing it will be the same one they give out at the Merry Mixer. If you get a chance to go....I thought the ornament was cute.

ornamnet.jpg

That is so cool, Kristine! Thanks for posting the pic - what all did they do at the Mixer last year? The one on the 6th would coincide pretty nicely with my family's plans to be at Epcot that evening, but just want to know what they do to see if it would be something everyone would enjoy.

Luggage has been ordered! I went with the 5 piece plum colored set. If I don't like it I will return it. That was giving me a headache lol

Good for you, Janet! Just a note of caution - Overstock does charge restocking fees on all their items, I believe. You can return things, but you won't get the full value back that you paid. (I found this out the hard way when I wanted to return a book I bought from them for a Christmas present last year - needless to say, it wasn't worth returning the book for the refund amount they were offering!)

(I tried to cover everyone, but if I left you out I am so sorry! My brain is fading fast, but I didn't want to forget the request since I already had once today.)

:worship: :worship: Very impressive, Tia!!

Im working then probabaly headed back to hospice to see grandpa after work...Apparently, the nurses said it may be sometime today, so if that is the case, ill be leaving work early and not sure when im getting back..so have a good day all

Lots of love and prayers winging their way to you and your family today, Jen. I'm so sorry for all that you're going through right now.

Thanks for all of the support!

I survived the last two days! Thank goodness it's a slower week for our clients. I got home around 8 last night, but I did run a couple of errands after work for the office, and a couple for myself. We have finished Andrew's invitations and Jake and Randy stuffed the envelopes, stamped and sealed them, so they are ready to go! Randy also got the labels run out for our Christmas cards yesterday.

I was going to take today off, but with the two admins and Merrie out the past two days, there is a lot to go over. I'm going to get to cleaning my office (carpet cleaners come in on Friday), try to get everyone briefed, then leave before lunch to go to the movies with Randy and the boys.

Have a great day DDA! And for those not logging on again before turkey day,

Happy Thanksgiving!

  to you, Marci. I hope you enjoy your afternoon with your family, as well as the rest of the holiday weekend!

Denise here is a picture of Hunter's chair. I made a canopy for it and a custom fit rain cover.

Epcot2.jpg

We are off to see Enchanted.

Safe travels to all venturing out! Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Tia,
I bow to you... What a recap!

OK. So my mother, my sister, and the pig are off to my other sister's house. Which is where they SHOULD have been to begin with.

Right now they are supposed to come back over on Saturday. I will take my sister to the mall, and my mother is supposed to spend time with DS, just the 2 of them. We'll see if that actually happens.

I have my poppyseed bread cooling, and the Jello for my other dessert is in the fridge to set before I stir in the mandarin oranges. I also got another bookcase dusted.:rolleyes1

We got a call that some other friends are on their way to town now, so we'll go see them on Friday. DS LOVES to play with their DD & DS so I am excited that they will be here. I wish they lived closer. This is the brother of DH's friend, so when we go see them we'll see his parents, too. I know holidays are sad for his mom. She kind of likes to have all of the family and friends around. I guess I should throw in a pan of brownies or something to take over there. I can do that tomorrow, though.:)

What kind of chair did he get Deb? It looks very child friendly. Can you tell me the make and brand? Also, do you have directions for the canopy? I don't sew. Would I be able to make it?

Afternoon all.

Thanksgiving is tomorrow, I miss my dad. :sad1:

Hi, everyone. Just stopping in to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! Safe travels to all, and enjoy your families (if you can tolerate them...) ;)
Vicki, Marci, Heidi and anyone else remembering lost loved ones, may you have peace.
Jen, you and your grandfather and family are in my prayers. :grouphug:
Glynis, I will be praying for you especially on Friday with your grandmother's funeral. :grouphug:

I got a 20% off entire order coupon for Gymboree, good now through Dec. 21st. If you want it let me know, and I will mail it to you.

Robyn, I just remembered that you asked for the last one I got. Hope you did receive it.
