OH

Tammi stole it from you!!!!! I could tell that was your goal!!!

Oops, sorry Denise. I was just reading through pages and didn't even know we were close to the milestone until I got here. I'm sure that 10000 would have made you smile :teeth: , which it sounds like you really need right now. You will have to let me know how the boys like Karate. Nicholas now has his red belt but we will have to slow down a bit since soccer season is beginning to start. It's good to have you posting again.

Kate, is that the complete list of characters or only the ones Julia was interested in?
Tammi - this is most of them - some of the newer ones are not listed on there - and I also did not put SUPER rare characters

That's a great idea. That way just by looking you know who you've got/haven't got without looking through all of the pages.

Am I overreacting to this - or would this bother you too?

This happened over a week ago and I really can't get it out of my head

Julia and I pulled in our neighborhood behind the school bus - a woman I know was waiting in her minivan for the bus to pick up her kindergartner

her van door was open and he hopped in the van - the van was facing towards the direction of her house and she had to drive about 10 houses to get home - the door to her van was not closed and her son stood behind her holding on to her headrest and she started to drive home - they went about one house and he saw some of his friends walking and he leaned out the car door to yell at them and talk to them - and SHE KEPT DRIVING!!!!

I came home and Julia kept asking me "why would she let him do that - doesn't she want him to be safe?" when DH got home she told him that she had something very bad to tell him - and told him the story

I can see her not making him buckle up for the short drive home - but not closing the door -

Steve and I have already made the decision that our children will not be allowed with this family alone again - but I just wonder if this is something she does all the time - what if he fell out and under the car?!? I just can't get it out of my head

so tell me - what do you all think of this?
I think this is completely outrageous!! If that child would have fallen out he could have very easily ended up under the tires. Some parents just have no idea how insanely stupid they are. We have a family like that in our neighborhood. Dad mows grass with the oldest child standing on the rear of the riding lawnmower, and the 2 younger children on his lap.

Did anyone else see that Dana Reeves (christopher reeves' widow) died of lung cancer yesterday

that just breaks my heart - she devoted her life to him and then right after he died she was diagnosed with lung cancer -

I can't stop thinking about their little boy - he is 12 - I just can't imagine that he might not be a very troubled teenager with little hope in life - he watched both of parents suffer so much before they died. I hope that he has a very strong support system!!

What he is going through sure makes my troubles seem petty!!

I saw that and was so saddened!! She put her career on hiatus for him and then just as it was getting going again...cancer reared it's ugly head.

Their poor son...what a rough life he has had.

Hi, Kate.

I didn't post an update as I don't want to always be a downer, but, no, life is not good right now. Rees' surgery went well, but I am having a rough time with all his new diagnosis. We had a bad meeting with his specialist on Thursday, and she suggested he may be even further up the Autism spectrum. He is doing better with the anxiety. He starts his evals on Friday for Special Ed in Kindergarten. The team suggested a self-contained room instead of mainstream, so I am devestated. I don't feel that is appropriate for Rees, so it's off to battle again. Still waiting on a court date for the Medicaid, and he wasn't invited to 2 b'day parties this weekend. It's been tough.

We find out today if my grandmother has breast cancer (the biopsy was yesterday). Her sister had it 2 years ago. John's had the real flu for 8 days now (fever of 102 even with meds), and I've made myself sick with all this worry and am having terrible stomach issues. Oh, and the topper is DH works for BellSouth and they announced yesterday that ATT is buying them, so now that's a whole new set of crud.

Brantley-Kate and Davis are doing well. The boys start Karate on Thursday.

Thanks for asking, but I'm sure that's not what you wanted to hear!

Denise

Oh dear!! Life is a tumult for you all right now!! Though you all have been in my prayers I will pray extra hard now. Thanks for the update it helps me put "meat" in my prayers, knowing exactly what to pray for. Here's a couple of :grouphug: :grouphug: for you!!

This was my reaction :sad2: :furious: :furious: :sad2: !!

That is absolutely horrendous!! I can understand not buckling but not closing up the door? :furious:

My other thought was why didn't she just walk to get him?

Hopefully this was an isolated incident but I would say if it happens again have a discussion with the mom.I am guessing that she will figure something is up when Julia isn't allowed to play alone at their house (good idea!!) and ask you about it.

Hi there DDAers! I'm bbbbaaaaacccckkkkkkk. For those of you who didn't know, the inlaws were here for an extended weekend visit because it was Matt's birthday and his party over the weekend. The visit was nice - but it will be even nicer to get back to "normal" around here. (ok, define normal, because we certainly aren't!).

You guys were busy - and stealth Denise tried to steal another milestone huh?

Kate - love the bag - and since Steve has a great bonus coming to him - does that mean its Ladies Only Weekend at WDW?????? Huh can we, pretty please huh????? That would be a blast!

Denise - wish Atlanta weren't so far away - Skunka and I would baby sit so you could go to the spa for a couple of days to feel better. He knows plenty of knock knock jokes to keep the kids busy!

Tammy - glad to see that you got your deed for DVC. Its a great feeling isn't it??

Sconnel - don't know your real name - but welcome! We're a crazy bunch of fun loving people. Looks like you'll fit right in. And at my house - if you've come to see me, come on in! If you've come to see the house - you've come to the wrong place.

To all my other friends - HIYA! Hope all is going smoothly !!

Thanks Beth! And thanks again for customizing your design for me!

Beth customize her 100 Acre Wood design for me to make a T for Lizzy to wear when we celebrate her birthday at CP. She also made a 2nd version of the design for me to make a card. I am telling my kids I'm going away on "business" in early May. I just can't tell them I'm going to Disney without them. So when I go in early May I'm going to have the Pooh character's sign a card for Lizzy (Can't wait to celebrate your birthday with you...) and send her the card and T from the characters. She will be 7 and she still believes the Pooh characters are real. She'll believe til she's 20 if I do this. I think she really knows because she'll make comments about other movies (Monster's Inc, Incredibles, Dinosaur...) being just pretend and she understands fiction/nonfiction but she's not ready to give up Pooh yet. And I'm not either. She said one of friends told her she wouldn't like Pooh when she's older but I said I'm old and I still love Pooh.

You are very welcome! And you can tell Lizzy that my daughter, Laura, loves the Pooh characters (especially Eeyore) and wants to celebrate her 13th birthday with them. And I'm even older than the hills and love Pooh and his friends.

I hadn't heard this! What a sad situation for their son! Doesn't he have some older step siblings from Christopher's first marriage? Hopefully, he has someone that will be able to be there for him.

Sure makes you stop and look at your life, doesn't it?

Kate, as soon as I saw the checklist I started thinking about a shirt along the lines of "Places to go and people to see." Then I scrolled down further and realized that you already had a design that could be used it as a shirt! Great job as usual!!!

Denise, of course we want to hear how you are doing. We want the good, the bad and the ugly. How else can we support you? We want to be able to pray for you, and this helps.

I'm so sorry that things are still going so hard for you. Just remember to take it one day at a time, and sometimes one moment at a time. That's all we can do. Hopefully, the ATT/Bell South thing won't hurt too much! We'll pray for that! Hopefully the karate will be good for Rees.

We love you, Denise. Know that we are supporting you in all that you do! Let us know if you need us to do anything!

No you are NOT overreacting! I've seen this happen too many times. Maybe the boy didn't get hurt this time, but every time she does this, it just becomes easier and easier to not buckle him up, or anything else.

It's just so scary how many people don't seem to care about keeping their kids safe. I'm not saying I'm perfect, because I'm not, but our children are our most precious resources, and how can someone willingly watch her child endanger himself.

I don't think you are overreacting. My kids would be buckled up even for that short of a ride. As you said, it would be so easy for him to lose his balance and fall out under the car. Do you know her well enough to bring up that possibility? Maybe she just isn't thinking like that. Chances are very good that nothing will happen, but it would be a tragedy if it did.
