I actually don't have any kids. I'm not a Mom, yet so I don't have that full time job in addition to everything else. If I did I probably wouldn't be standing at all. Although for awhile I felt like I was raising my cousins. Run them here, run them there, watch them, bath them, feed them, etc., etc.
Don't feel bad Lynn. I'm used to people thinking I have kids. People think I have kids of my own quite often. Especially at Girl Scout events if they don't know me. They ask which is your daughter and I say none of them, but they are all my girls or all of them. From time to time the girls call me Mom. Better yet is when they ask my Mother and she says the one over there leading the troop or in charge of the wokshop or whatever. But it is common in our service unit to not have a daughter in your troop.
You gotta have a sense of humor, because most people assume you are there for your daughter. I just love giving back and being there for the girls whose Mom's aren't willing to lead the troop. I think it is a great program and have been involved since I was a brownie. Although sadly I am giving up the troop at the end of the year because I don't get enough parent help and can't do it on my own or with the help of my Mom (she is over involved as well.) I still hope to help just not with a weekly troop.
