It sounds like they are just wanting to make it fun after all the hardwork and years put into becoming a Doctor. How does ya'lls list stack up?? What are some of your favorites that you hope to get??

Well, we haven't finalized most of our list. We know Cincinnati is #1, and Christiana Care (in Northern Delaware/Philly) is #2.... well, we're going to Delaware this weekend so I can get a second look at the Children's hospital, but we fell in LOVE with the place and almost ranked it #1.... so I'm pretty sure that will stay.

After that, the next 3 are Loyola (Chicago), Minnesota, and Ohio State, in no particular order.

The last 5 we are ranking are Rush (Chicago), Maryland, Illinois, Missouri and St. Louis. Those 5 will take some serious hashing out before we finalize the order.

We also visted a program on Long Island, another program in Kansas City, another in Chicago.... those 3 we aren't ranking at all, as Kyle was really unimpressed.

I'll be sure to fill the DDA in as soon as we submit our final list! It should be sometime early next week, and it's absolutely due on February 22nd. :goodvibes

What degrees in medical school are ya'll going for?? Do they call them degrees?? I guess your specialty :)

Just him, at least for now :goodvibes I'm going the nurse practitioner route....

Kyle is doing Internal Medicine-Pediatrics. It's a combined program, both adults and kids.... but different than family medicine in that he can further subspecialize, he can work in a hospital or in private practice, etc (whereas with Family Medicine you are locked into primary care, outpatient, etc. And you have to do a month of OBGYN :crazy2: ) So when it's said and done, he'll be board certified as both an internist and a pediatrician.

Did you decide on the graduation trip?? I won't say much since you said he sometimes lurks around. Are you sticking with the original plan and going to plan #2??

The original plan :goodvibes It was pretty much the consensus, and I feel much better about that one anyway! I'm getting excited!

Hi, everyone. Trying to catch up but there's about 50 pages I haven't read. I skimmed trying to find the "big" events. Anyone care to do a cliff notes version for me?

I did see:

Brendita: congrats on the D. Glad it went smoothly. Hope the house sells soon and that your DS is ok.

Kristine, so sorry about Bill's dad. You're in my prayers.

Jennifer, beautiful wedding pics. How gorgeous are you!

Steffy, glad your Dad's b'day was good and you made it home safely.

Deb, love the pj tops. No snow? Figured you'd get a ton.

Elin, hope your puppy feels better.

Now, I know I missed a ton of regular DDAers there, so please fill me in on the rest of the gang!

Just been nuts around here. Rees' lawyer meeting is tomorrow. He's had a bad 2 weeks, trying to get all the stuff for his school eval. That's why I'm not on much. Just a little stressed and taking a breather. I"m actually really depressed about Rees right now. It'll get better, but it is really hard to be a parent to a special needs child at times. I wouldn't trade it for anything, but it isn't always as easy as one would hope.
:wizard: I hope everything goes well with the lawyer. :grouphug: I hope things get better for Rees this week. And you.

Ok, so nobody talk this afternoon, ok? :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm skipping class because Kyle turned my alarm off. When I called him this morning he said, "with as little sleep as you've been getting the last few days, if you were up to go to class you could have. if you weren't up, then that means you were sleeping -- which you need. i don't care when you sleep, as long as you get some. don't worry about it"

But now I'm a little stressed. Not that I'll probably miss much as the professor just talks in circles and never gets to the material.... but I still feel like I should be productive while I'm home!

Doctor's report: sinus infection, double ear infection, bronchitis. Don't be jealous  Actually, don't feel bad at all. This happens yearly... just usually in January. :rotfl: Just a day or two now, and I should be back to normal. :goodvibes

Have a good afternoon, just don't distract me! ;)
:wizard: Get back to normal soon.

We saw it. IMO, it was VERY ok. We heard bad reviews about it but wanted to see it anyway, as it's been so long since Steve Martin was in that kind of role. Well.... the reviews weren't too far off. We thought that most of it was kind of cute, but the jokes were often dragged out entirely too long and really almost got to the groan level, where we were ready to move on to the next scene.

I think, though, the kids behind us enjoyed it immensely, from their giggles.... so maybe it will be perfect for your gang.

Are your kids too old or too cool for Curious George? THAT's the one I wanted to see
I want to see Curious George too. Just waiting for everyone to stop puking so we can get out of the house. Just when 1 gets better the next gets it. But we're on our last kid with it so maybe this weekend we'll be done. :)

You don't have to worry about me Glynis. :goodvibes

I can't think of obnoxious things to post every day, and it's just not my style to post about my boring life. Seriously, do you want to hear about the lecture I got about my red gums at the dentist this morning? :teeth:

I am happy to report that after calling three Party Cities, the third location has Jojo supplies, and I successfully booked three character meals for our upcoming March trip. :sunny:

:wizard: to all my DDA friends who need it!

Amy :)

P.S. Here's something...I'm feeling the baby move around finally...only two weeks until our ultrasound. Are you all taking bets if it's a boy or a girl? :goodvibes

Let us know. I'm going with pirate: .

Ok, I've been designing. Now I have to question if someone has already done something similar? I know that Kate was the mastermind behind the Personalized names with the characters, but has anyone done the character's name with clipart of the characters inside? These are what I came up with, but if someone has already made these then I would like to give credit where credit is due. These are the ones that I have made so far, but it would be fun to do more.

I love them. Cute idea. Could you do all the characters from the 100 acre woods please?
Huge Pooh and gang fans here.

Has anyone seen?
Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy?
Ramiro & I watched it last night.
We are so confused. :confused3
What is the story line & or the plot?
Did we both miss something?
We are so glad we rented rather than purchased.
Or is this for Sci-Fi fans or what?
Nothing against Sci-Fi, just didn't get it.
????????????????????????????
I think you have to read the book to enjoy the movie. When it came out DH dragged me to it, he loves the book. But I was like :confused3 . I didn't get it. DH ended up exlaining all the stuff from the book to me.

So I am getting my me time, but not in a manner I would like. I went to work Sunday, luckily the roads weren't that bad. I got home about 6pm. While I was at work I got called and asked if I wanted to go in early. So instead of working from midnight to 8am, I ended up working from 10:30pm to 6:45am. Although I was supposed to stay until 8am.

At about midnight I started to feel nauseous and sick to my stomach. About 1am the vomitting began. I don't think I have ever thrown up so much in my life. I can't even count how many times I have thrown up. My whole body hurts so bad, plus my blood vessels under my eyes have all broken. I feel horrible.

I called on call about 3am to get someone to come in and finish out my shift. It was 6:45am til someone arrived so I could leave. I spent all day in bed. I tried to get a shower so I could go to my other job at 3pm and just about past out. I called in sick. I just got up a little while ago. I still feel horrible and nauseuos and stiff all over.

This definitely is not the type of me time I wanted or needed. When I woke up I thought it was Tuesday morning, this has definitely been my longest day ever.

In better news my grandfather is out of the hospital.

Becky
:wizard: Hope you feel better soon. We have had this going through all the kids 1 at a time. I have never cleaned so much puke. :crazy2:

Thank you all for the support. Your words and prayers mean more to me than you will ever know. It is so wonderful to have you all to voice my concerns to and vent.

Today was bad again. Rees had a major melt down in response to the dentist visiting his school. He got so upset that his teachers had to take him out of the room. Then he was "off" the rest of the day, nervous and whiny. I cried all during staff meeting and have continued on and off since then. I called his Neurologist in tears, and they are seeing him tomorrow at 11am. DH is coming too so we can discuss these problems. I'm beginning to think he's suffering from an anxiety disorder (he gets terribly afraid, heart races, bursts into tears, repeats over and over he needs to leave). It's the same symptoms he showed at Disney. I'm praying she gives us some answers and treatment options. I'd have a drink, but I'm afraid if I do I might not quit drinking. I don't remember being this upset in a long, long time. This situation is breaking my heart.

We're off to church for dinner and choir. Hope everyone is well. Oh, and my parents are coming this weekend and we're taking the kids to see Curious George. I hope the dark theater isn't a problem.

Ahh speaking of which... this came out yesterday... should I order it? Amazon are doing a deal here for Lady and Bambi - (buy together save £s)

I've never seen either of them... should I get them? WIll I like them?

I started buying up all the dvds when they came out as I've missed quite a few - last year I got Mulan and Pocahontas... not really impressed...

I LOVE Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid though...

Cinderella was ok.

Should I buy them? Even just to say I've seen them... they are classics after all...
Lady and the Tramp is one of my favorites. I think Bambi is a sequel Bambi II. Not sure if it's any good, some of the sequels aren't any good. :confused3

Hi, everyone. Well, the meeting with the lawyer was a mixed bag. He thinks we have a case, but isn't sure going to court is our best option. He wants us to consider just reapplying, but the application process is about a year's wait. I don't think we want to take that chance. So, DH and I are talking about going to court. It's extremely expensive which is also a consideration. It's been a rough day emotionally going over all of Rees' issues. So, DH took me and the kids out to dinner for Valentine's Day. During dinner they dimmed the lights, and Rees freaked out (dark enclosed place like the scary rides at Disney). Took all of dinner to calm him down. Was just another reminder of what we're fighting for. I held it together until after they went to bed, and then I lost it. I am so drained. He's not doing well at school, he's "off" at home. I am so emotionally spent. Thanks for listening and for the prayers.
:wizard: I pray that God will give you wisdom to make the right choice. I am so sorry that dinner didn't go well. :grouphug: :wizard:

Oh Denise! How I wish I was closer so I could help out! You sound really upset! I'm glad that you are taking Rees to the Neurologist. I'll be praying that he can do something to help with the anxiety attacks.

I hope you never worry about coming here to vent. That's what we are here for. If we celebrate the good, we also comfort during the bad. That's the way it is! I'm glad your parents are coming this weekend. That seems like it might help. I know I always need my mom when there's a problem with one of my kids. Good luck with the movie theater. Let us know how Curious George is. My kids really want to see it.

Denise --

Hugs and prayers still, of course. :grouphug: I wish I could offer more...

I don't know if Atlanta has anything like this, but a lot of the theaters around here have showins that they call "Baby Pictures". The name sounds bad in this situation, but it's really not all infants, etc. There are lots of families there that maybe have younger children as well as older children in their families, children who are more sensitive to dark areas or loud noises, etc. But they show popular family movies in a somewhat quieter, more-lit setting at certain times. I wonder if it's a national thing? :confused3 That might be helpful for Rees! I'll see if I can find anything.
