Asking a character for an autograph is not going to take time away from the kids. We were just like you initially...booking character meals and not waiting in too many lines. But, then we turned character crazy, and we wait in more lines for characters than we do attractions. :teeth: Now that we have Alyssa, we have a good "excuse" and luckily, she loves the characters! I truly believe the characters enjoy their interaction with the adults as much as the kids (well, except poor Ariel and Jasmine when she's wearing her skimpy outfit, because some men act ridiculous! ).Amy :)

We are the same way. To Kyle, waiting in line to meet the characters is Disney World! He is still too little to go on all of the rides (i.e. the mountains etc.) and last year did not have the patience to sit through any of the shows (except the Muppets, philharmagic, playhouse disney and lights!motors!action!)

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'll go for it next time. The stupid thing is I did stand in the lines for Becky. I just couldn't bring myself to pull out my own autograph pages and to get my pictures taken. I just let her get hers signed and her picture.

I got outside my comfort zone with my Pal Mickey this year. My kids and DH think I'm nuts. He went with me everywhere and I posed him for pictures. It was lots of fun. I can't wait to make matching t's for myself & Pal Mickey for our December trip. I'll also take my autograph pages and get more pictures of us with characters. I might say it is Pal Mickey's autograph pages. ;)

If you want to see pictures of me & Pal Mickey, you can click on this link. The character pictures were taken at the Character Connection.

Vicki- those are the cutest pictures ever! I don't think you're nuts at all!

It doesn't help that every time I go by a mirror, I still see the fat girl. DH can't believe that I can't see a change, but I really don't. I think when you've been fat for so long, it's hard to believe that you can change that much. The only thing that makes me believe it is the carload of clothes I've given to goodwill, and the new clothes that are starting to appear in smaller sizes.

Remember, you are looking in the mirror everyday so it can be hard to see the change (in your own eyes). Take a picture of you now and put next to a picture of you pre-surgery and you'll see the difference!!!

I need advice:

Julia has begged me for the last few months to do cheerleading -so I called our local cheerleading gym and they told me tuition was $45 a month, then there were competition fees around $50 for 3 local competitions and the uniform - and they get less expensive uniforms b/c they grow so quickly - this seemed reasonable to me and so I enrolled Julia in tumbling class at the gym and told her she could do pee wee cheer next year. I was told by several people that the pee wee option was for people who want to see how they feel about it and an affordable option.

None of what I was told seemed out of line to me

Tonight they released all the information for next year.

Listen to these fees:

$130 coaches fee
$45 monthly tuition
$35 annual registration fee (which I paid when I enrolled her in tuymbling)
$125 uniform (this is supposed to be a cheap one?!!?)
$8 in hairbows
$12 bloomers for under skirt
$40 practice uniform
$150 warm up suit
5 competitions averaging $75 each (3 in other cities about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away so if they are early we will have to stay overnight in a hotel)

and this does not include gas, pictures, crap she will want to buy at competitions, end of the year banquet and what if she outgrows the $400 required clothing?!?!?

I figured out it will be close to $1500 for her to cheer next year without all the extras

I am mad that I paid the annual registration fee - I think they hid a lot of fees from me - they told me the uniform was about $120 - um think they could have mentioned the other $280 in required clothing?

and now - I have a little girl who is going to be crushed - I told her she could cheer -

I told her tonight it was too much money and I was going to see if I could find another gym but I am not sure anywhere else will be much better!!

Any ideas out there?

I'm not sure what to tell you on how to break it to her but those fees are outrageous!!! I think you are doing the right thing.

Pediatrician just called. BK's strep culture came back POSITIVE. And she went to school today... Boys have to go in tomorrow to get checked for Strep as well.

DH just called. His car is broken down. We're going to pick him up. That means no car for him this weekend, and I have to go to work tomorrow early. ARRRGHHH! How can it all fall apart so quickly?

Can anyone help me think of a reworking of the phrase "Personal Touch"? It has to be short (I'm trying to think of a way to rename a link).
:confused3

Ok- so ends my posting party!

Happy St Patrick's Day to the lovely ladies (and lurking men) of the DDA! I am having the whole family over for corned beef and cabbage tomorrow. My house smells divine as I am baking a loaf of cinnamon pistachio bread from a recipe I got over on the crafting/cooking board. (I know I gave up baking for lent- but I excluded St Pats from that since even the Pope lets you eat corned beef today since St Pat's is on a Friday! :goodvibes I really just gave of baking for lent since I am trying to shed a couple of pounds before summer and bathing suit season )

:grouphug: to all the sickies out there- man I am glad I live so far away from most of you!!! ;)

If I don't make it back to the 'puter- everyone have a great weekend!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh man, I don't think I can use the ringtones. My phone is a Verizon LG.

Tammi, I got one free ringtone by using Ringster on my Verizon phone. I think that's the one where I got the Sorcerer's Apprentice song. Mine is a Samsung though, so not sure if it would be the same, but I downloaded it straight from the phone, not by going to a website. Hope this helps.

Marti,
Well, unfortunately I can't make lunch on Wednesday either. How long can you keep a Chick Fil A sandwich, and how are they left over?
