Welcome Steph - why do you think we're called the DDA?? It stands for Disney Designing ADDICTS!! We started out addicted to designing, but I think now we're addicted to the friendships. Welcome to the nuthouse!

Boy you have been a chatty bunch.

Big news in our house tonight. Not sure I should really admit this but I'm just so excited. My "baby", DD 3 years on Jan 21 went to bed awake tonight for the first time EVER. She's always been a good sleeper through the night but we always put her down asleep. We just put her in a youth bed (longer than a toddler bed but shorter than a twin) last week. Her big brother had taught her how to climb out of her crib. I was always reluctant to let her cry it out because I was afraid she'd wake her siblings. Tonight I sat by her bed and read to her. Then I shut off the lights and stayed with her until she was out but it was still a huge step for us.

Finding a bed for her was a challenge. She's such a tomboy and insisted most everything looked too "girly". She wanted a plastic Thomas the Tank Engine toddler bed ($240 of plastic :scared1: ) but I did get her to agree to this one from Ikea for $69 plus matress $35. She liked it because her brother already had the quilt. This is actually perfect as it is longer than her crib (63") so it should fit her for a few years and it fits in the room so much better than a regular size twin bed would. And she LOVES it!

That's a huge step!! Hopefully it will continue!! Great Job!!

Now, I have to get around to making two designs for the whole family. Any chance I'll be able to get Amy to actually iron them?

So Very happy for you all.

So I had a GREAT… did I say GREAT weekend. :cool1: DH came home Saturday after his 5 very long week trip. We had a nice family day both Saturday and Sunday. Then Monday he had to go in and file his travel voucher and I had reserve duty for the afternoon. Then it was off to our friends house for dinner.
This morning was TAX  appointment morning. I think things went well, we have a few more things to give our CPA (we forgot) and we should come out ok.
Today is the unofficial promotion release day. Tomorrow is the official, commanders will let their troops know day. Well usually it leaks out the day before, but so far NOTHING. It kills me!!! :furious: DH is waiting to see if he makes E-8. Dear God I hope he does.

So I had many, many pages to read to get caught up with things. WOW a lot has happened in just a few days.:teeth:

Deb – Glad to hear Colby is better. I hate it when my girls have fevers. If my little one gets a fever, then she doesn’t eat, when she doesn’t eat she looses weight. When she looses weight, it’s a bad thing. She is all of 20 lbs on a good day at the age of 2 ½ so the Dr. hates it when she looses weight.

Jo- The bedding… LOVE IT!

Kate- how is the princess chart doing? The one you submitted to Disney? Have they said anything yet?
-Congrats on the contract for DH.
-In ref to the kid and car thing…In my house it is SAFETY FIRST!!! LOVES ALWAYS!!! I am a safety FREEK! Both DD’s will say “safety first mom” and loves always.
-Say I will gladly trade you homemade jam Tuesday for a bag made by you today. (I make, strawberry, any berry you can think of, kiwi- taste great but look gross, strawberry rubarb, is any of this doing it for you?

Denise/Baloo- Sending you PD and prayers.

Everyone …. I wish you enough!

Kevin, Very Nice! Great Work!!!

Morning everyone.
Just wanted to say thanks for all of Ramiro Birthday wishes.
The 2 of us went out to "Old Spaghetti Factory".
We had a great time.

Until we got home.
Garage door spring has broken.
Door wouldn't open & had to park in the driveway.
Looks like we are going to have to spend some $ on this repair.
XDH & myself have never ever worked on this.
Oh well!
party: :bday: Ramiro. Good luck on fixing the house up. :wizard:

Hi, Kate.

I didn't post an update as I don't want to always be a downer, but, no, life is not good right now. Rees' surgery went well, but I am having a rough time with all his new diagnosis. We had a bad meeting with his specialist on Thursday, and she suggested he may be even further up the Autism spectrum. He is doing better with the anxiety. He starts his evals on Friday for Special Ed in Kindergarten. The team suggested a self-contained room instead of mainstream, so I am devestated. I don't feel that is appropriate for Rees, so it's off to battle again. Still waiting on a court date for the Medicaid, and he wasn't invited to 2 b'day parties this weekend. It's been tough.

We find out today if my grandmother has breast cancer (the biopsy was yesterday). Her sister had it 2 years ago. John's had the real flu for 8 days now (fever of 102 even with meds), and I've made myself sick with all this worry and am having terrible stomach issues. Oh, and the topper is DH works for BellSouth and they announced yesterday that ATT is buying them, so now that's a whole new set of crud.

Brantley-Kate and Davis are doing well. The boys start Karate on Thursday.

Thanks for asking, but I'm sure that's not what you wanted to hear!

Denise
I'm so sorry that Rees is having so many problems. I can't imagine why he wouldn't be invited to birthday parties, we always invite the whole class if the kids have a party. :wizard: :wizard: I hope he can get diagnosed properly and that the school takes your opinions in consideration. And that everyone gets and stays healthy. Your family is in our prayers. pixiedust:

Am I overreacting to this - or would this bother you too?

This happened over a week ago and I really can't get it out of my head

Julia and I pulled in our neighborhood behind the school bus - a woman I know was waiting in her minivan for the bus to pick up her kindergartner

her van door was open and he hopped in the van - the van was facing towards the direction of her house and she had to drive about 10 houses to get home - the door to her van was not closed and her son stood behind her holding on to her headrest and she started to drive home - they went about one house and he saw some of his friends walking and he leaned out the car door to yell at them and talk to them - and SHE KEPT DRIVING!!!!

I came home and Julia kept asking me "why would she let him do that - doesn't she want him to be safe?" when DH got home she told him that she had something very bad to tell him - and told him the story

I can see her not making him buckle up for the short drive home - but not closing the door -

Steve and I have already made the decision that our children will not be allowed with this family alone again - but I just wonder if this is something she does all the time - what if he fell out and under the car?!? I just can't get it out of my head

so tell me - what do you all think of this?
:scared1: It would flip me out. I also wonder how safe their home is. :confused3

Last weekend in April is Skunka's birthday - so that might be tough for me. I think first weekend in June is ok - but is it terribly hot there yet? Fall also works very well for me and may for others so that there can be some planning time and money saving time. Is this a pipe dream or do others like the idea (besides me, Lynn and Kate)?
I like the idea of fall.
