The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 29

Yay for getting the specialist route! for the vacation bids, hope it works out for all of you.

They are making him a specialist. I guess he will start that on Oct. 14. So at least he won't be stuck with a horrible, low-paying route that he would have to try to bid out of. The vacation situation isn't as bleak as I thought, either. The weeks are Sun-Sat, 2 days off each week. So whatever week he gets he'll have 5 vacation days and 2 days off for a MINIMUM of 7 consecutive days off. Now, IF IF IF he could manage to finagle it he could have Fri & Sat off the week before his vacation and Sun & Mon off the week after for a total of 11 consecutive days. That's even BETTER than the 10 days he gets now. But I don't know how likely that is, and I don't know if they would agree to it in advance so we could actually book for that amount of time. At any rate, he'll have at least 7 days for WDW.

Now the next hurdle is the vacation bid. If he can't get a week in August I'll be scrambling to figure out some other time we can go. I don't get more vacation time until June 25, so we have to go after June 25 and be back by August 24 so DS can start school. Our APs expire August 16, so going after that would be far less cost effective than going while the APs are still valid. And I would prefer NOT to go in July. So we'll see what happens. He will be bidding against the guys who run the convenience store routes instead of the grocery routes so he has no clue how many guys are ahead of him. So now we wait for vacation bid and see how it plays out.

We all really enjoy Coral Reef. I'm glad you were able to juggle a little bit. Are you still going to try to change dates or stick with what you have and juggle what you can?


We'll be at MK for EMH on Thursday, and we'll stay there all the way to the end of MVMCP, so maybe our paths will cross! We had fun at WCC for breakfast, so lunch should be fun, too. When will Bob know for sure if the court date is firm? It would be nice if they delayed it so he could stay and fly back with you guys!
Thanks, Elin. DH called me at 9 AM to say his supervisor is going to go to the Regional Manager and plead for DH to be allowed to keep his route. Any spare PD in his direction would be appreciated. I think it is really ugly to keep leading DH on and giving him false hope. His supervisor doesn't have enough pull to get the big guy to change his mind. I think it would have been FAR better to get authorization for DH to keep his route FIRST, and then tell DH he could keep it. Telling him they will TRY is just mean.

I'm not changing dates. I would have to waitlist every night except for one, and being this close to the travel date, I think it's a long shot. Too much juggling.

Next week he is going to call the person that has been assigned as his dd's guardian through the courts and meet with him. The problem lies with his ex being a pita about him taking her somewhere. Right now it is all rather ugly, and with their original custody order nothing about vacations was spelled out. So hopefully he will know something in a week or two.

But I told him that if he has to come back a day early, I'm still staying. His drama is more than I signed up for!!

I finally heard from DH. He was in talking to the Business manager. Just like I suspected, his supervisor wasn't able to change anybody's mind about taking his route away. He did get some good news, though.

It's fundraising night at a local pizza place....well about as local as your hotel was to us. So I couldn't see using the gas AND paying to eat out when I have the food here.

Two special babies I know can use some good thoughts and prayers.

Emma Leigh one of my co-worker's daughters, they think has shingles but it didn't show up on the blood test.

Jonathan is my Mom's best friend's granddaughter. Apparently he has been beaten by his Dad. Baby's Mom and baby were hopefully picked up by other Grandparents and are out of the bad situation.

They are both 4 months or younger. They could really both use lots of good thoughts.

I think I am heading to bed. I am exhausted and barely made it home from work without falling asleep. I am glad I didn't sign up to go camping this weekend. I know I would have a blast but I really need to catch up around here.
