I hate cooking dinner because my family is so freaking picky. They won't eat anything with mushrooms or onions in it. Ken doesn't like rice or veggies that are cooked in a dish. Owen doesn't like anything remotely spicy. Shane just doesn't like anything period. I feel like giving them cereal for dinner for the next week. Seriously. It makes me so mad.

That is tricky! My kids don't like onions, either. I've taken to using onion powder to get the onion flavor without the onion texture, which is what my kids hate.

Check out the link in my signature. My website has recipes that my picky eaters have approved of.

Ah! A family after my own heart!
I won't eat mushrooms or onions, either! Or shallots, or capers, or anything spicy. I won't eat peppers (red, yellow, or bell). I won't eat BBQ, Mexican, or anything that tastes like smoke. I don't like sauce, and I don't like my foods to touch each other on the plate.
DS has decided he likes tacos so I will tolerate them for him. But only tacos we make at home - no tacos from out.;)

Tomorrow we get to sleep in a bit because Alyssa has a follow-up appt. at the urologist in Richmond at 11AM.
Hope things went well!

I love seeing these pictures!

Every time I go to order checks, I want to get the Tinkerbell ones, but Gary would probably have a fit lol

Hope you get some good rest tonight!
When I got my new Tink Disney Visa they said DH could continue to use the old "regular" one but I don't know what will happen when my card expires and they send new ones.;)

I came home today from work with a heavy duty migraine. All it took was a two hour nap, pain meds and Hal making supper to help get rid of it. Plus the male cats laying with me just a purring away.:goodvibes :goodvibes
Glad you're feeling better!

I have heard people say that the difference between 2 kids and 3 isn't that big of a deal. I disagree. Good luck!

My friend seems OK with me switching hotels since he can see that it really has no impact on him whatsoever. It's not like we all hang out together at the hotel. We'll just meet at the gates in the morning. If they aren't at the gate when the park opens they can call me when they get there and I will tell them where we are. That's better than feeling obligated to wait for them if they aren't ready to get on the bus. DS and DH know better than to dawdle when it is time to get on the bus.;)
There is a HUGE difference between 2 and 3 when planning a Disney trip.:rotfl:

Glad your friend is OK. Sounds like this will work out well for you! I wish I knew how to get my crew to stop dawdling!!!!!!!!!!

I just got a call from our postmaster. She is covering a different office today and they have a couple of pins. She is going to buy them for me and I can pick them up at our post office on Thursday  Now that is great customer service :thumbsup2

Deb
WOW!:thumbsup2

Well, I'm off for a while today. I have to take my poodle to get trimmed, and then to do some shopping. My women's church group has asked me to talk about emergency preparedness and to demonstrate a 72 hour kit that I've come up with for my family. I need to flesh it out, and figure out how best to demonstrate/display it.

I've also got pears to pick and can, plums to turn into jam, and I'm running out of time. I need to get it all done before Thursday afternoon when I leave for my brother's wedding. Keep your fingers crossed that I'll get it all done!

Any mortgage rate specialists out there? Paula maybe? we are currently in a variable rate mortgage that was locked into a fixed rate for the first several years. Our rate will go variable on July 1, 2009. I'm thinking that now that I have a regular income that we should consider refinancing and locking into a totally fixed rate mortgage. Our loan officer quickly crunched some numbers and even if we wrap the closing costs into the mortgage we would only go up about $30 per month over our current mortgage. The rate she was looking at was 6.625%. Has anyone been watching the trends. Would it be wise to lock in now or wait awhile longer? She said the the mortgage rate never dropped below 6% even at it's lowest so it doesn't seem unreasonable. I must admit that I have not paid any attention to mortgage rates, but I'm confident that someone here will have an answer for me.
Will you be paying that extra $30 for many more years than your current one? Does your current mortgage have a cap on how high the interest rate can go when it goes to variable?

This months Disney Backstage Pass has me so excited about our trip in Dec! I can't wait :dance3: The castle will be transformed to look like an Ice Castle for MVMCP :thumbsup2

COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At one point it sounded like it might be more than just MVMCP. I hadn't planned on going as it is only the last night of our trip and that is also the only night we could see Osborne Lights so I thought we'd just do the Osborne Lights for free. Wonder if they will try out the lights at night before 11/12?

I've been trying to keep up, but adjusting to our new schedule has thrown me off a bit. Alyssa loves school, and I think she had fun at ballet too. Matthew, on the other hand, is not so keen on leaving Alyssa in her classroom. By Thursday, he pitched a fit! Every time we get back to the van, he looks at her empty carseat, shrugs his shoulders, and says, "La?" :goodvibes
I'm taking the kids up to Huron on Thursday night. Kevin has a horrendous month of meetings, so he won't be joining us. My niece's 5th birthday party is on Saturday, so we'll have a fun weekend of catching up with my side of the family.

Sending :wizard: and :grouphug: to you all.

Amy :)
How cute! Have fun with family!

No human could survive being pickier than Emma. She doesn't want her food to have any signs that it was cooked.:confused3 -no skin, no brown spots....she won't eat fruit or veggies, won't drink juice. She's actually gotten worse in the last 6 months. She used to eat beans, brocolli, apples, and eggs. All of those are yucky now. I'm hoping she'll grow out of this stage soon. She HATED that Disney french fries now have the skin on them. At least she still loves water so I knew she would survive at Disney even if she didn't eat too much.

This would be nice, I would rather have the choice!

Hi everyone! We had a visit from our Disney Rep today! We sat and talked about the F&WF for almost a half hour! For those going during the season, he mentioned not to get the Rosemont from Australia - you can buy a bottle cheaper, but highly recommended the Wolf Blass Shiraz and Penfolds. He also recommended the White Star champagne. He also raved about the Irish Cheddar Cheese Stick offered with the Potato Leek Soup.
Another tidbit that he's hopeful for: 2008 Standard Dining to offer EITHER the appitzer OR dessert as a selection. He's really hopeful it'll change by 2008!!!

OMG you sound just like me! Cooking is no fun anymore :sad2: The only veggie Gary will eat is corn. Honey how would you like your corn tonight, regular or creamed? :rolleyes1 Now how exciting is that lol

that is spectacular! I would love to see it this year. I sent a scraplifted picture from the video in hope I might tempt my family... but I doubt it. :sad2: I will need LOTS of pictures, ladies and gentlemen!

Bernadette - Juggling 3 kids around home is hard enough for me - I don't even want to imagine juggling 3 at WDW!:rotfl2: I just know from my previous jobs that 3 IS harder than 2. The logistics of going from 2 to 3 are far more complicated than going from 1 to 2. With 2 everybody still fits in the back seat of the car, and I still have a hand to hang on to everybody. Obviously this is less of an issue now that DS is 11 and Princess is my only charge. IF Princess were to have a sibling at some point it wouldn't be a horrible transition. My previous employers liked to have their children less than 2 years apart, and when DS was small it was like having 3 yr. old twins and a 1 yr. old.:scared: DS was 8 when I went to work for Brother & Sister, so that wasn't bad. But the days when I had all 3 of them I was much more worn out than when there were just 2!:rotfl:

My friend makes me laugh. They have been to Disney at least twice without me - both times BEFORE I went for the first time. They travel all over the country for business and leisure, AND they travel internationally! Yet if I say I might switch hotels at Disney it is a HUGE thing! It's not like they are going somewhere they have never been before! It just strikes me as funny in a maddening sort of way.:upsidedow

:scared1: You do not like all the good stuff :rotfl:

Heather - I haven't called for a meeting yet because I was waiting for them to stop juggling his classes around. He is still working right now. When he finishes what he is working on he has another math assignment, then he has to read and do a little summary. He has been doing homework for just under 2 hours. I tried to call the Dr. this afternoon but they had already turned their phones off. I will call them tomorrow.
I can sympathize with your friend. I am pretty sure the teachers DON'T understand a lot of "differences", and from what I am seeing they just ignore the modifications. They tested DS for Aspergers, even though I told the diagnostician he doesn't have it. He has some behaviors that fall on the autism spectrum, so they wanted to rule it out. Mainly he hyper-focuses on subjects that interest him, and when he gets excited he "flaps" his hands. He also has some sensory issues that he got from me, but they aren't as pronounced as they were when he was younger.
elizabeth- i would set up an ard now instead of later because they might have to switch him again an it would be easier in the beginning of the year instead of later on. it would be easier because different teachers teach things at different times and paces. it might be easier on ds too. would him typing up his words be faster? teachers like kids to repeat definitions because it usually gets in their memory that way but i do understand what you mean because i took longer doing homework too.

Wow, It seems that we have a bunch of picky eaters here. I am included in that. I will not eat an onion or anything with onion flavoring. I like garlic, but only in powder form. I like ketchup, but nothing else with tomatoes. I like corn, carrots and green beans for veggies. Chris and the kids all have different likes and dislikes. It is interesting to see Nick beginning to open up to new foods that he has tried at school. I try to incorporate them into our meals from time to time as I would love for my kids to be less picky than me. I find it difficult to eat out as there are few restaurants that have menus to my liking. I'm a plain old meat and potatoes kind of girl. I'm also picky in the drink category. I don't like anything malted which eliminated beer and most bottled coolers. I don't like coffee or tea either. I love soda, some juices and flavored waters. I can usually come up with a mixed drink or two that I will drink. Maybe one of you wine wise ladies can point me in the direction of a wine that I would like. I can't say that I've actually ever tried wine, but I'm not fond of grape juices and I HATE champagne. So maybe at Epcot someone could point me in the right direction I would love to broaden my horizons.

I hope so, at this time we are not planning on attending any of the party's.

At this point in my day I am 99.9% sure that I have a UTI or bladder infection. I've been thinking of Tammi's Alyssa all day because she must have been uncomfortable having repeat UTIs. 2 PM tomorrow can't come soon enough for the doctors appointment. Drinking water seems to have ramped up the pain because now I do need to pee more and it hurts every time. It is actually hurting non stop now, but I just took some advil and a vicadin so hopefully the pain will lessen soon. I wonder what vicadin and a stiff drink would do ;)

Deb - Have you ever tried that Uri-Stat? It is an OTC med that is supposed to help with UTI pain until you can get to the Dr. I've just seen it advertised.:confused3
I am not big on alcoholic beverages, which is probably good since there is rampant alcoholism on my father's side of the family.
DH & I went to a wine tasting a couple of years ago with a bunch of the committee members from the AIDS walk. It was fun, but out of the 20 or so wines we tasted I liked maybe 2. And they weren't anything you could find outside of the hoity-toity place that hosted the tasting.
The one wine I do enjoy enough to buy a bottle now and then is Chateau St. Michelle Reisling. It is a sweet white wine. They sell it at the grocery store. Heck, they sell it at Sam's! You can buy the whole bottle for what a single glass would cost at WDW! I can't remember which restaurant we were in that had it - maybe Citrico's? Anyway, DH and I will get a bottle once or twice a year. It's pretty good.

So I've been working on some more weekend prep. I made black koolaid for the kids and I'll make a frozen hand to float in it. Jello is next on my to do list. Here are a few photos that I've taken as we've been try different things

Monster toes:

Hunter's Pirate Costume (no make up)

Nick's "Dinner" costume. I plan to do some makeup on his head, maybe an incision line around his head :confused3 The monster stands about 7 feet high so it is quite a sight. The monster's eyes light up too.
