Tammi - That is really lovely.:goodvibes If I wasn't so furious at DS right now I could appreciate it even more!

On FRIDAY I asked DS if he had homework. Yes, he had ONE assignment from Social Studies. I made him do it Saturday morning. It took 40 minutes of fooling around before he started it, and I think he did a pretty half-a$$ job on it. I just got up to go to the restroom and I noticed DS's bedroom light is on. An HOUR after he was to be IN BED, in the DARK. He is in there doing HOMEWORK!   He "forgot" he had this project for English. He had to write 5 pages and draw 5 pictures. The pictures haven't even been started. I am SO SO SOOOO ANGRY at him. I asked him multiple times this weekend about homework. I paid $1 for him to get a planner from school to write his assignments in. All weekend he has banged on those bells and played video games, and now he "remembers" that he has homework.:furious:

I told him he will have no TV tomorrow or Wednesday. He doesn't play video games during the week, but I think maybe I will take those away for next weekend. I also think he should have to be in bed by 8 PM tomorrow and Wednesday, but that may be impossible since we have to be at a thing at the school that doesn't start until 6:30 PM tomorrow. I know the ADD makes it hard for him to be organized. I know the ADD makes it hard for him to focus. But this is inexcusable. I need to make an impression on him that will guarantee this doesn't happen again. I am LIVID that he blew it off all weekend when he had SPECIFIC reminders about homework. This isn't mamby pamby elementary where the policy was no homework on weekends, ever. I hope he REALLY likes 6th grade because he may be there for several more years!

I have 3 days of work and I leave Friday. :cool1: :cool1:

Tomorrow I will probably not get home till 10-11pm as I have 2 Service Unit meetings. I am trying to get in 28 hours of work in 3 days, although I worked more then 35 hours last week.. As I do not have vacation time at my job yet, I am trying to only have the 2 weeks without pay. Although I will still have vacation pay from Goldtoe as I hadn't received it yet.

I have things scattered everywhere to pack, but have not done so yet. I still have this fear someone is going to tell me nope you can't go or something is going to happen and I won't get to. Not sure why but that is my mindset right now.:confused3 :confused3 I am hoping my fear doesn't come true.

Please keep my great Aunt in your thoughts she has surgery tomorrow.

Sending prayers, :wizard:  :grouphug: to all of you.

Deck building 101

This was early into the project last weekend

That was the fun from last weekend. Then the first day of school happened so here is a picture of the kids on the deck on Wednesday morning.

This is our new deck funiture. There are comfy cushions for each chair, but those are in the deck box as we had just put them away when I remembered to take some photos. The table was a brown wicker finish when we bought it. We painted it and I think it came out pretty close to the color of the chairs. The paint keeps chipping though. The little table was a redwood color before I painted that.

We still need to finish the stairs and do some major cleanup, but it is getting closer.

Anne Marie - great installments so far. Keep them coming!

Elizabeth - I can hear the anger in your post! I hope he gets a handle on things so both of you can get off to a better start of the school year. :grouphug:

Becky - I'm so excited for you! :wizard: for your aunt.

The two ADRs that I am unsure of are:

The Crystal Palace before MNSSHP. The time slot that I was given is 5:30, and I am not sure if this will give us enough time.
We really wanted LTT, which we had, but then my brother and his wife decided that they wanted to go too, and there was no room. So I settled on CP.

The other ADR that I have that I am unsure of is Sci Fi Drive In. I am afraid that the seating might be a little tight for my SIL. The last thing that I want to do is embarrass her at a restaurant, and after reading some reviews, I have been told that the seats are a little close to the table.

So if any miracle exist, I might be able to change some things around.

If not, then I guess I will have to keep things the way they are, and hope for the best.

Tom - Your CP ressie will be fine. You will be out of there in about an hour, just in time for the party. We have eaten there before MNSSHP and I think MVMCP as well. If I recall correctly there are regular tables at Sci Fi in addition to the "cars". I would imagine they would seat you at a table if you asked.

Beautiful deck, Deb and Chris. I really like the last picture of the proud homeowner. Have fun sealing/staining all of the 2x2s. That is the worst part of having a deck!

Hi Everyone!!!!!!!

I am home and have finished reading the posts. Now I just hope I remember everything.

Tom the Sci-Fi does have a few tables towards the back. If you really want to try this restaurant, maybe you could request these when you check in.

Cp timing might be pushing it. As long as you get in right at 5:30, you could be out before the party starts. I would keep trying for LTT, sometimes they have openings. Good luck :wizard:

Becky,

I know you will have a fantastic trip. I cannot wait to see pictures.
Just take it a day at a time till you leave :goodvibes

I agree with Elizabeth, Tom. I think 5:30 is early enough, plus it's a buffett so you won't have to go through the whole 'order and wait' process. Just show up a little early if you are that concerned.

I don't know about the tables at sci fi, but I did eat there in May. I wanted to try it out for the 'atmosphere' factor. Did it, don't need to do it again. You can't have dinner converstion because you are sitting in 2s and the people in front of you have their backs to you. The food, IMO, wasn't that great either.

Boy this sounds familiar! Hopefully ds will learn his lesson & not let this happen again. I can't count on my fingers how many times I have gone through this. I finally got to where I checked myself.

Deb - The deck looks terrific! You guys did a great job!:thumbsup2

Becky - Yay for the cruise! I am sure nothing will prevent you from leaving! Good thoughts for your aunt!:wizard:

Terry - Welcome home! Did you have fun this weekend?

Robyn, Just love the pictures. I still have MIL problems and it will never stop even after 41 years of knowing her. I just focus on my DH and our kids and do not bother with her anymore.

It is you that count with your beautiful family :goodvibes

Tom, I also think you'll be fine with your CP ADR, but I do recommend you check in around 5 p.m. since they tend to run behind. I'm sorry, I have no advice about Sci-Fi.

Great pictures Deb!

 for tomorrow Tammi! My Alyssa starts preschool tomorrow.

I'm sorry your DS disappointed you Elizabeth. Try not to go to bed angry.

Jen and Anne Marie, great trip reports!

Debbie, I missed saying goodbye, but I hope you have a magical trip. I better wish you the same Becky, a few days early! :wizard:

I hope you have an awesome first day of school, Jennifer! :teacher:

 to everyone else!

Sherman Williams tells me that we need to let the deck dry out for at least 6 months before we treat it. I'm not planning on staining it, but we will use the Thompson's Deck Sealer on it in the spring. I'm buying a sprayer to do the job as it would take forever to treat it all by hand.

Terry - Welcome home! Did you have fun this weekend?

I had the most relaxing time this weekend. Made Chicken Pot Pie on Saturday and Carol made Zucchini Lasagna on Sunday. I will write more tomorrow and post a picture of the puppies. :goodvibes

Need to catch up on my post count :lmao:
