The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 25

We had another death at one of our high schools. The senior was going to his last day of school.....and died skitching (hitching a ride on a car while skateboarding) a dumb move...but our schools have had so much death and threats....summer can't come soon enough for me.

That's a favorite sport here in Utah, too. Several teen boys are in the hospital with injuries due to skitching. One boy is in critical condition with a horrid brain injury!

Sure. Here you go!

Lemon Pork Chops

4 bone in pork loin chops
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Lemon pepper
1 medium onion, cut into 1/4-inch slices
1/4 C. packed brown sugar
1/4 C. ketchup

Place the pork chops in a slow cooker. Sprinkle with salt and lemon pepper. Top with onion. Sprinkle with brown sugar; drizzle with ketchup. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or until meat juices run clear.

The original recipe called for a lemon to be sliced (unpeeled) and placed on top of the chops, then top with onions, ketchup and brown sugar. We tried that and found that it made the flavor quite bitter. I tried it again, peeling the lemons, and even that was bitter. So, I just do the lemon pepper quite heavily and cut out the lemon altogether. I also do this in the oven when I'm pressed for time, and it comes out quite good!

Okay now that I am caught up I am going back to bed. I woke up at 5 throwing up fell back to sleep around 6 I tried to eat some eggs aroud 1030 whe I woke up but the nuasea came back while eating. I just dont feel well so I am going to go back to bed. Its a good thing Jeff is off today to entertain Olivia.

Hi everyone,

Katie is home sick with a sore throat. I would have sent her but she has been out late each night this week for dance rehearsal & she is wiped out. Her (& Sophie's) is tomorrow. I think she just needs a day to rest.

I went to the Dr. for my back. She said its muscle/skelatal spasms probably due to stress (Gee what stress?? ) Anyway she gave this painkiller which you cannot drive while using so I guess I can't use it during the day since I am driving the kids around. I'll take one before bed. Also taking advil for the pain & she suggested a heating pad too. Well that's the story.

It is 47 degrees now & raining, very chilly! Katie & I are listenening to park hopper radio right now & dreaming of our Disney trip.

I shouldn't really be on here now. I still haven't finished packing. Laura and I leave in about an hour to head to Hamden, CT for her synchronized swim meet. There are 10 or 11 teams in her age group, and her team needs to place in the top 4 to go to Nationals, so we could use some of that extra special DDA Pixie Dust!

Hi all,
Hope all is well with you all.
We have been rather busy. I have been taking classes for my Real Estate license so I can be a loan officer. I fifgure I want my cake and eat it too with a job so this is one that will work that way. I have two classes down and one to go before the state exam.

Elizabeth has been at a lot of Dr. appts with her lack of growth. So far all is clear but they are not happy with her growth. She has a few more tests to do and then I think I will call it quits for a while. She has been poked more times than a child should. One of her big tests yet to be done is an L Dopa test (IV for two hours or more with them giving her growth hormone during this) and then she has the CF test we can't seem to clear.

Gabrielle is doing great and had a fabulous month at school. She recieved her bile for memorizing 26 bible verses (A-Z) and was she a proud girl. She is ready for swim class and can't wait for our trip to DL in Nov.

Mark has been so very busy with work. It's one little trip after another, then he is the 1st Sgt as well (this means he is the guy they go to when someone is in trouble or has an emergency). He carries a blackberry (sp) with him all the time now (can't wait for that to go away) and I tell ya he seems to always be doing something with work. This past Sat he had to find a member who was deployed and get him home because his son drowned. That is part of the job he so dislikes, the sad stuff just sucks. He does get to go to a lot of cool lunches with many big wigs. I guess that's good.

Other than that we are normal day stuff.

The instructions said that it should only take 3 hours to complete with two adults. I guess with 3 adults and 1 child the time frame is 13 hours!

We went to an Awards Banquet last night where Becky got a scholarship. She has turned into such a young lady. I miss my little girl sometimes.

i talked with my attendant today and she said that her friend's brother is out of a coma. they took the tumor out that was on the back of the brain but it was also intertwined into the brain so they couldnt get all of it. he is having trouble speaking and so he is getting frustrated and the screams at the top of his lungs. he is also having trouble keeping food down. now they are going to do radiation and chemo and see if it helps if not there is nothing they can do. doctors said he has probably had it since birth because of how intertwined in the brain it is.

I agree with you guys on the gift situation, but just wanted to see if anyone had a different take than me. I agree, Tammi - I was a little blown away that she would even expect something like that, being that I hadn't offered any such assistance (unless my mother did without my knowing, and hopefully she knows better!). But, this woman has a lot of $$ and is used to getting her own way in things, so I'm not terribly surprised by the assumption or request. However, I think she'll have to find someone else to fetch and carry!

I did out of curiosity check to see what Sarah of Memories by Sarah charges for gift baskets. From her website, it looks like she charges $28 per basket (unless you're buying multiple baskets for one delivery, and then each additional basket is a smaller additional fee) on top of the costs of the things she puts in the basket. Maybe telling her I would be charging $30 for my time per gift would be enough of a detriment!

If she has a lot of money, I don't think that price will scare her away... Good luck extracting yourself from that equation!

We just got home alittle while ago from the girls dance rehearsal. (almost 4 hours! ) We go back again tom'w!

The girls did great. Sophie kepy smiling & Katie looked like a real ballerina. They both got their trophies. Katie got her 8 year whihc is huge! Sophie got her 3 year.

The sky opened up as we were leaving. I got them home, made grilled cheese sandwiches & pickles. They were starving & quickly devoured them. Showers for all & now they are in bed.
Whew....

My back is still hurting like crazy..its been about a month of this & now its unbearable. I have a Dr. appt on Friday to see what the heck it is.

I am pooped so I am going to bed. Good night friends.

Does anybody have a miracle cure for headaches??? how about not sleeping?? or sleeping but waking up exhausted still??

I love having DSL at home.....no way, no how am I ever going back to dial up. I can actually see every body's pictures clearly.

Elizabeth-does your DS's school have a "graduation" for their 5th graders? Abi's does.....I am because we have one week left of elementary school.

Cassidy could use some pixie dust....she is working her darnedest and still may fail math again because of the teacher's grading system. I probably should have taken her out of that class but it would have meant putting her in a class she could pass in her sleep. Finals start tomorrow..I can't believe how fast this year has gone.

Good luck to Cassidy! Math is not my thing... luckily, the boys take after their Dad.

I was supposed to work tomorrow but they told me to call in. So I have now only worked 1 day of my 3 days this week. We do 12 hr shifts.
