My magic bag would hold all of the things you need, and even things you don't need! You are welcome to borrow it!
Adopting a new kitty was quite the challenge! The first shelter we went to called the leasing office to make sure we are allowed to have 2 pets. Technically we AREN'T allowed 2 pets, so they said until we get written authorization they will not allow us to adopt. Perfect.

We have had 2 cats for the past 16 years, living on properties owned by the same company. If they were going to "get us" they would have done it before now. Since our manager is still in the hospital (not sure what is going on but it is obviously quite serious) there really wasn't much hope of getting an authorization. So we went to 2 PetCo locations where shelters were having mobile adoptions. One shelter there was the one where we got Aurora, so they KNOW we have a cat already. We looked at an adult cat from the SPCA. Very sweet, already declawed, and similar in looks to Aurora. But we were really worried about how it would work with 2 adult cats. The shelters now refuse to allow you to take possession of a cat that isn't spayed yet, which we were able to do with Aurora. We had her spayed at our vet's, and had her declawed at the same time. But admitting you have a declawed cat is also likely to get you blacklisted. I think we could adopt a child with less hassle than a cat!
In the end we adopted an 8 week old Siamese. She is not spayed yet, so we have to wait for the lady who is fostering her to have the surgery done before we can pick her up. Kind of stupid. We could have her spayed and home to recover by Tuesday, but that's not the procedure! So we paid for the cat and came home with nothing. HOPEFULLY the foster mom will see that this really needs to be done promptly so we can bring our new kitty home by the end of the week. We are fighting over her name. DS wants to name her Alice. I want to name her Anastasia. Sister wants to name her Ariel, although Sister doesn't really get a vote.
