I am off to get some housework and laundry done before doing more to prepare for the recital this afternoon. Have great days, friends!

Have a great day, Elin! Enjoy the recital!

Good morning :)

I have a full day ahead, so I might not be back on till tonight.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Ditto to you, Janet! Do the boys play a lot of games today?

Hello all!

I have no plans this weekend, except to catch up on housework, bills, etc and work on pictures and a few other projects. Kyle's birthday is tomorrow, but he's on call today (overnight call) and will be exhausted tomorrow, and probably sleeping.

These 2 weeks are really a downer ... or awkward struggle or something else hard to describe. Kyle was supposed to be on an Infectious Disease elective this week, that he was REALLY looking forward to. As Micro majors, we both thrive on that part of medicine, and it is something we love. We're nerds, I admit it. But he was SO excited about it. As a bonus (and really enough to make you excited even if you DIDN'T love ID), it was Monday - Friday, 8-4, no weekends, no nights, no holidays. We were going to be on very similar schedules and get to see one another! We were going to get an entire 3-day weekend together! We had plans for his birthday weekend AND said 3-day weekend! It was planned intentionally these 2 weeks for his bday, memorial day, and just the fact that we are coming off of vacation where we spent almost 24/7 together. We're young, still only married a few years, so humor me on this -- we really, truly just missed one another when we had to go back to only seeing each other in the evenings (if that). Fine, insert your puke smiley, whatever... just bear with my rant. I'm almost finished ;)

Well, instead of all that, he's on a cardiac intensive care block. Well, half a block, since it's only 2 weeks. This is call every 3rd night (overnight, not coming home at all), crappy hours, call over the weekends the way his luck fell, very few days off, etc. UGH!

And then the tricky part....

The reason this changed, is because the first year med-peds residents were shuffled to cover Sarah's "important" rotations. Sarah is the resident who died last fall.

So we feel like crap complaining of course...... sheesh!

It will be over in less than 2 weeks, when life will return to our normal crappy conflicting schedules, but at least there aren't deeper moral struggles with those!

And on another note, we got both of our #1 requests for Kyle's vacation next year! :cool1:

Have a wonderful weekend, and maybe post a bit to keep me company! ;) I worked on our pictures yesterday, and am through day 1 (of 10 :faint:). I took so many (well over 1000), and am really trying to get rid of a lot to make viewing a bit easier  :rotfl:

I hope you all are doing well!

Ah, I remember those days. Sorry that things haven't turned out quite like you hoped, but at least you still have those fond Disney memories to look back on!

And yay for next year's vacations! What are you guys going to do? (Or do I even need to ask? ;) )

Good morning, DDA!

Jennifer - Sorry I don't have an ending to the creature on the wall story!:rotfl2: We'll have to find out what Dadboss did to chase it out. On the other hand, it could still be on the wall Monday.
Thanks for your input on the job!:) While DH was getting ready this morning (At 2 AM, when no sane couple would have discussions) he asked me if I really want to work for this family and I told him I do. Since it isn't money out of our pockets I think he will be fine with me taking the job no matter what the salary turns out to be. We both hope the family can come up a little more, but if they can't I will deal with it. The 6 month mark would fall right at Christmas so I could always lobby for a generous bonus if they see that the finanaces aren't as tight as they feared.

Surely Momboss would want the creature gone - I know I would! My asst. told me a story the other day of how she and a boyfriend had to get rid of a 10+ ft. long snake that had coiled itself onto a picture on the wall in her parent's home in Tallahassee! I think I would have fainted! :scared1:

What's ironic about him calling me stupid is that he gets on me if I accidentally say it! And I have NEVER said it to him! It sometimes slips out, mostly when we are in traffic. And he will tell me "Miss Libbiff, that is a BAD word!"
I will miss them tremendously. I hope I can still see them. I can't imagine that I wouldn't still sit for them sometimes. I am sure if I call and ask to take them for ice cream or soemthing on the weekend that would be fine, too.

Ahh,  .

I've always been curious as to what they call you - now I know! :goodvibes

Well, I'm at T-minus about 6 hours and counting until I have to go to work. I hate it when I have things like this later in the day that you spend most of the day dreading.

I'm probably going to take it easy today leading up to this evening - watch Grey's, and do some Disney planning. I can begin calling for reservations for our Dec. family trip on June 2, and I need to get everyone on one page! I've been meaning to put together a little website for everyone to keep all the info. in one spot and organized, and I may FINALLY get around to starting it today. There are lots of things I want to propose - special activities (including babysitting) for the kids, tours our parents want to do, and I want to see if I can convince everyone that a VIP tour would be worth the $$.

Have a great day, DDA!

And yay for next year's vacations! What are you guys going to do? (Or do I even need to ask? ;) )

We are keeping our VWL ressies for September with my mom and sister, and are not sure about next March yet. We are not renewing our APs, so we'll just have to see as time gets closer. We might actually just stay around here! :rotfl: I don't get near the vacation time he does now that I don't work at Children's, so that doesn't help :)

Lindsay - I hope your event tonight is better then you think it will be!
I think if that thing ever decided to leave the wall and fly through the house then Momboss would definitely want it out!:rotfl2: But it is better than a snake, I suppose!:scared1:
When we lived in FL my mother called 911 because there was a BIG rattlesnake in our yard. A police officer came out and shot it. Not very humane, now that I think about it.
All of my charges have always called me by my name, though some of my friends have charges who call them "Nanny". My first charge started calling me "Bessa" when she was 17 mos. old, and that's what they always called me after that. At my second job my charge called me Ib-iss, but he could eventually say it properly. Brother calls me Miss Libbiff, Sister just calls me Elizabeth. I don't really care if they use "Miss" - I actually prefer that they don't.

Understood! When will you guys be checking into VWL? Jonathan and I, plus my parents, will be at the WL the weekend of 9/14. Texas plays the Univ. of Central FL. for the opening of their new stadium, and Jonathan and my dad are going to go to the game while my mom and I will just hang out around WDW. We're also all going to do the first MNSSHP on 9/14! We'll head back to Texas Sunday evening. It would be cool if our paths crossed! :thumbsup2

Me, too. I don't trust these caterers a whole lot since they've screwed up for us recently, so I'm a bit apprehensive about that. Of course, it's a martini party, so maybe after a while people won't notice if something goes wrong! :rotfl:

I hate snakes. I still have a very distinct memory of my father chopping the head off of a rattlesnake when we moved into our house when I was 5. It was a new development, and it ended up on our driveway one night. I will always remember that even with the head severed from the body, the jaws still came down on a pencil my dad stuck in it's mouth (it's mouth was open to strike when my dad got ahold of it). :scared1:

Our house and neighborhood now has been around for a while, but we're adjacent to a park and creek. I did see a decent sized snake in the road over by the creek the other day. It just gives me shivers to think about!

At this point, checking in on September 16th for that whole week, doing MNSSHP the 21st. That's not an AP or DVC discount date though, so we might look at going the 14th-20th or something. Right now we're booked checking in teh 16th, though! :goodvibes

Glynis - I LOVE Alan's user name! :) And what a nice piece of work he will have with the Utah Jazz. It does leave you short-handed though. We never lived close to our parents either so when one of us had to travel it really did put the other in a bind. You, however, have more children to deal with than I did. My hat is off to you. I know that you will work it all out... you always do!

He's going to have a great time on this trip! He leaves at 5 tomorrow morning to go to San Antonio! We did find out that he'll be home late Wednesday night, and the station is giving him Thursday morning off. That means he'll be able to man the video camera at the twins graduation!!!

Of course, it does mean that I have to get them ready for Church by myself, and have to keep them quiet at Church by myself. Yikes!!!

 Jennifer! It sounds like you could use a lot more of those!

By the way, I love the fact that you want to spend time with Kyle! I think that's the key to a good marriage. Just keep your chin up, remember that this too shall pass, and you'll be together again at the end of it. Postpone Kyle's birthday celebration until this is over, and then do something really fun!

Don't worry, I'll be here off and on today, and pretty much all of tomorrow, once Alan leaves. Too bad we're not closer together, we could get together, order pizza and keep each other company! Well, I'll have to do it virtually!

Off to my interview. I guess it is good to have interviews for 3 days in a row because it forces me to see what all is in my closet that is appropriate interview attire!:rotfl2: I will say I dress far more casually for interviewing these days because wearing a dress or a skirt would be a big pain in the tushie. Most of my dresses run more along the lines of "after 5" or "funeral" anyway.

So I had an interesting afternoon. When I was walking down the hallway after I put Sister's backpack away (I would make her put it away but she can't reach the hook) I saw something in the formal living room. There was a CREATURE on the brick wall where the fire place is. The question was bird or BAT? I was pretty sure it was a bird, but it was scary. I don't like birds. I called Dadboss, no answer. I called Momboss, unavailable (in a deposition), I called the pest control people, voice mail, I called DH, his phone was off because the battery was dead. So I called City Services and told them I needed Animal Control. The guy thought I was some sort of crank caller! He asked me if it was a squirrel or a possum. Um, no, you idiot! It is stuck to the bricks like somebody velcroed it up there, and it MIGHT be a bat! I finally gave up and just took the kids to Taekwondo. (Sister is SO proud of her plaque.:) ) When we got home it was still on the wall, but in a different position. OK, not dead then!

Momboss was 15 minutes late, which made me really nervous because I wasn't sure if she was even out of the deposition. So when she got home I was in a bit of a lather. I told her there is a creature on the wall and that City Services was no help. She went to look at it and said it's a bird, but she had no clue how to get it OUT. We decided it is Dadboss's problem.
lol. you had me laughing when you said creature. a few weeks ago when i went with my dad to see the colt at my dad's bosses ranch they had friends over who had 2 young boys. one of the boys was walking into the pool house and started screaming DAD ITS A CREATURE ITSS A CREATURE! it was hilarious. the mom my dad and i looked at each other and said city kids. lol

We check out on the 16th, but our flight doesn't leave until 5 that night. Depending on when you guys arrive, maybe we can at least say "hi" in passing! :thumbsup2

So Relay was rain free now it is raining.:thumbsup2 It was quite windy and cold but no rain. I walked lots of laps, but I didn't count, so I have no idea how many. We sold 40 bowls of soup from 7-11pm. People were coming all night looking for more.

Now I just hope for no rain for Girl Scout day at Dorney park tomorrow and I will be a Happy camper. Speaking of which I need to determine if I have clothing to wear for this, if not I may need to go shopping.:scared1: Not what I want to do on a cold, rainy, windy day when I am lacking sleep.;)

I got my reminder for my first cruise Friday and my second cruise today. They are about when the cruise total is due and book of excursions, stateroom gifts to buy and information for my cruise. Who would have thought I would be excited to receive a bill.

I can't get my printer to clear out its memory, I even reset the router. It is now off and unplugged, hopefully that will work and soon. I got papers to print and I need to use the color printer, I can print all the black and white I want on the other printer but I need color and the one that isn't printing gibberish is only B&W.

I should go to bed or get a shower and get out of my PJ's, which I put on when I came home at 1, but I am too lazy to get up and do so.

Instead I am watching POTC and selecting pictures to get printed for my leaders thank you gifts. At least I am trying to get something accomplished on my lack of sleep brain.

Have a great weekend.

It was such an amazing experience. Emma and Molly loved "seeing" their baby sister. Even Eric thought it was "cool" Which says a lot because he just doesn't get excited until the baby is actually here. I think it has something to do with the fact everytime he has tried to feel any of the girls moving they immediately stopped when he put his hand on my belly.

I am so glad that we did this even though Molly thought we were bringing Lucy home with us tonight. She made the funniest comment this morning when we were discussing our day. I told her we were going to "see" Lucy later and she said "We're going to Lucy's house to see her." Well sort of!!

So here she is....
post13.jpg

She's sticking her tongue out at us in this one....(the girl's loved this)
post20.jpg
That is so cool! She's beautiful! How exciting for all of you!!!

Cassidy is beautiful and love the house!

We had another death at one of our high schools. The senior was going to his last day of school.....and died skitching (hitching a ride on a car while skateboarding) a dumb move...but our schools have had so much death and threats....summer can't come soon enough for me.
How tragic!

Hi!

I knew the past two weeks would be grueling, they were actually worse than I imagined.

But I'm not going to dwell on that. I made it through. Time to get happy.

I finally was able to look back on my trip and smile. I had lunch with my DD and she was so excited to start planning our next trip. Her son was just too excited. He loved everything. :dance3: :jumping1:

Except the characters. He just doesn't like the characters. Any of them. Except Lightning Mc Queen.:car: I need to beg her to allow me to post the picture of him and Lightning.

I really want to go see Shrek 3 tomorrow. I would buy the tickets early in the morning, but just have no idea what time I'll get out of work. I'm really afraid I'm going to have to wait until Saturday.

Sunday is all planned. I get to see Terry's sister again. We are going to have some fun. Can't wait for Sunday night TV.

I've missed so much, I can't possibly catch up.

But I did see a couple of really neat pictures. Tammi, you and Alyssa look stunning! Bernadette, you looked great pregnant! And Robyn, I love Lucy!!

I'll drop back in next week, when things calm down a bit. Maybe I can work on my trip report. Better attitude, better trip report. I really needed an attitude adjustment.:) :teeth:
Would love to read your TR!!!

Good Morning all. I didin't sleep well last night. I'm coming down with a cold. I finally got up at 6 AM and took some sudafed and Advil then I was able to take a little nap before getting up for the day. At least the meds helped. I need to get going and finish getting the camper ready for our trip TODAY :scared1: I think I may need some clothes for myself :rolleyes1 The others are all packed. The weather looks cold and rainy. I ended up running to LL Bean yesterday and buying all 3 boys rainsuits. I really want to keep us all warm and dry. Chris and I have cheapo suits from Walmart. If the newer suits that I bought for the boys work well I will be investing in some for Chris and I too. They really just look like wind suits, but they promise me that they are 100% waterproof. I'll have to see it to believe it.

I need to run a few errands this morning too, picking up items that were donated for the trip.

I love seeing all the pictures, It is so nice to see all the beautiful people and homes of the DDA.

Theresa, I'm not sure if I posted a Happy Birthday wish for Cassidy last week so wish her a belated one from us.

I guess that's enough chatting for me. Have a great weekend if I don't get back before then.

Deb
:wizard:Hope you were able to stay dry and warm!

I think that title should go to Bernadette. I usually forget to hit the button when I'm reading through!
That's what I was thinking!:lmao:

I went to the Dr. for my back. She said its muscle/skelatal spasms probably due to stress (Gee what stress??:rotfl2: ) Anyway she gave this painkiller which you cannot drive while using so I guess I can't use it during the day since I am driving the kids around. I'll take one before bed. Also taking advil for the pain & she suggested a heating pad too. Well that's the story.
:wizard: Hope you find relief from back ache and stress!

Hi, all!

I still really haven't had a chance to read much. I'm going to need a good day to go back and see what I've missed. I'm thinking maybe next Wednesday...

I shouldn't really be on here now. I still haven't finished packing. Laura and I leave in about an hour to head to Hamden, CT for her synchronized swim meet. There are 10 or 11 teams in her age group, and her team needs to place in the top 4 to go to Nationals, so we could use some of that extra special DDA Pixie Dust!

Thanks for the birthday greetings!

I'll be back sometime on Sunday but probably not online until at least Monday.

Have a great weekend!!!

Beth
Good luck to Laura and her team!!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

And, finally....

9000.jpg
Congratulations!!!!

Is it maybe Bernadette's DH who doesn't know about dinner?
I'm pretty sure I did tell him. He doesn't like to talk about Disney too much. ;)

You should be proud of yourself as well, congratulations!
I agree!!!

My interview went really well. I like the parents, the DD is adorable, the house is nice, the job description is EXACTLY what I want. They want a nanny to come in and take charge and have the initiative to get things done as necessary instead of waiting for direction. It is my absolute dream job.

Unfortunately the salaries are just not lining up. We've managed to get within $60 per week of each other, which is $3100 annually. I could come down a little bit lower, but DH is starting to get testy about me coming down THAT low. I wouldn't be making less money but I would be working 13 additional hours per week. Then again, it is just ONE little girl. And she will be in preschool 2 days a week in September so I will have 10 hours a week where she isn't even home! I think this is the job for me. Now I just need to decide if working 13 extra hours for essentially the same money is what I really want to do!
That does sound perfect for you!

Tell Alyssa that I hope she dances beautifully tomorrow! I know that she will, and that she will look like a fairy princess at the recital!

How nice that Bob is coming to help out! Do you think he'd be willing to come to Utah for the twins preschool graduation on Thursday? We just found out that Alan has been chosen to go on the road with the Utah Jazz to the next round of the playoffs, and that means missing the graduation! It's times like these I wish my parents lived closer! I guess I could call my sister...hmmm...I'll have to think about that one!
Could you put the video camera on a tripod?

Yep. But the family with 3 kids would be a WHOMPING raise. Money or happiness, money or happiness...:rolleyes1
happiness all the way.....

I had the best first job after college because it taught me everything I didn't ever want in a job again. I was a mutual fund accountant. I was 1 of something like 3,000 in my position. I worked about 60 hours a week and had about 10 deadlines everyday as it was before PC's so it was all done in batches. I left that job to go to a small furniture manufacturer. It was great. I loved being able to see the big picture instead of being 1 of 3,000. I loved working for a company that made a great product. It really was great until the economy took a turn and a new guy bought the place. Then I went to then non profit I'm at now. Small enough that I can see my input but large enough that I get good benefits.

Marci - You are right. All of my friends are telling me that I shouldn't feel funny about taking a job for less money as long as it is enough money to pay the bills. None of us are in this career to make money. My one friend recently finished her college degree and got a job at JP Morgan/Chase (or whatever their name is today) and she HATED it. She was a nanny for 15 years before that, and now she is nannying again. It is just hard to have 14 years of experience under my belt and not price my services accordingly. On the other hand, if DH and I can manage and I will love the job then the weekly salary doesn't matter that much. Sure there are nannies making more money, but I am me, and I need to base my decision on factors other than what the other girls are making. The jobs I am seeing in my salary range are jobs I don't want. Weird hours, lots of children, parents working from home, diva-like preferences about things, just not anything I could be excited about.
This job is one child, DS would be welcome, the location is good (just west of where I work now), the hours are fine (even though they are longer), the duties are completely reasonable and the job description couldn't be better if I wrote it myself. I know DH doesn't want me to sell myself short - as he put it, 13 hours is almost 2 additional shifts per week - but my job isn't labor intensive and I would be able to structure my days the way I want them. I have to remember that some things are not about money. This job would also have more holidays and more vacation time, which is very valuable to me and should be assigned some worth. Out of the 5 interviews I have been on this is the job I can see myself in.
That is a HUGE thing!!!!

Elizabeth-you have to do what's right for you...but I agree with Marci.

I've had a crappy day....we took Wheezy in to get the shocks looked at...turns out we need a new radiator(second in the time we've had the car) and because of where it's leaking....a timing belt(I think that's it).....a costly fix.

I am home alone earlier and I hear a loud crash....one of the shelves in the laundry nook came down.....spreading a whole new bottle of Oxy Clean everywhere...clean that up go back to work....come home after running a long errand (bright spot of the day...went to the Scholastic Warehouse sale) and nothing has been cleaned up from Jim and Abi's supper, laundry not switched over nothing.

Than I am doing some rearranging and laundry and a door from a cabinet in the laundry nook comes clean off....well not clean....the door can not be used again I don't think.

Friday is supposed to be a good day isn't it???
:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: Hope you have a more relaxing weekend!

That's great on the vacation for next year! Sorry about this week's disapointment.:grouphug: Hope you find a way to celebrate Kyle's birthday.

I took about 1,650 photos......I uploaded about 175 of the best to photobuck for my TR but do need to upload more to Ofoto for my friend and her family.

Darn. I really like this family.:headache: This family that sounded so unreasonable on paper are the most gracious, welcoming people. Their boys are very sweet little guys. There would ALWAYS be people in my work space at this one because it is crazy busy there all the time, but I might kind of like that. There is a BUNCH of staff and business employees around. The house really is big enough that if the boys are tired or overstimulated I could easily move them to a quieter area. There IS TV, they just prefer to limit it. They haven't ever trusted anyone to drive the boys before, but they said I would probably be allowed to drive them or the mom would come along with us to do stuff. Well, if the mom has work to do then I will have to drive the kids, and the parents really do want them to get out and experience things. They do eat very healthy but that's not a bad thing, and shouldn't be too hard to adhere to. I can just pack a lunch if we're going to the zoo or something where I would ordinarily let the kids eat fast food. And money is not an issue in the least. The agent told them a high salary to begin with, and before I left the mom assured me that they can go higher if they need to so I will agree to come work for them.

Now I am completely conflicted. I like all 3 families that I met with, but I think this family knocks the one with the 3 kids out of the race. If I am going to do work-from-home parents I'll go with these guys.

DH and I had a long talk about this. The family I met last night would really be stretching just to get to my low end, and that is after I dropped my low end significantly. Chances are they would end up feeling kind of resentful if they were having to give up things just to pay the nanny. And then next year I don't know what I could expect in terms of an increase. Dadboss does 5% every year, plus a holiday bonus. If they were already paying me as much as they could afford then there wouldn't be much room for increases.

And now the agent just phoned and said this mom says I am THE NANNY for them and they are ready to hire me.

How pregnant were you? You don't look that big.
I was 26 weeks pregnant with Emma. I carried her really low though in some of these pictures I just look big....I do remember having trouble walking down the monorail ramps on that trip. It was really hot on that trip too. I lost about 5 pounds on that trip as I just couldn't eat. I had just started feeling better (I really shouldn't be telling you that....) I remember coming home and thinking I could never have done it just 2 weeks later. It was a really great trip. It was the trip that taught me not to try to rush from ride to ride as I really couldn't. I just enjoyed the time with Lizzy.

I scanned a few more photos.

I really love this photo. It shows the joy in the simple things at Disney:
