Hello DDA.
I finally got home tonight. I was supposed to come home yesterday.

Terry -  to you, and so glad you finally made it home. Traveling is sometimes so not fun because of these dang airlines. I can honestly say I have yet to fly an airline that hasn't screwed up at least once, and some bigger than others. It sounds like you did the best thing, and that was to continue to be your own advocate, so good for you. :thumbsup2

We used to live in Carrollton (Marsh at Rosemeade) and I worked at Town East Mall. That was 25 miles and it was RETAIL, for crying out loud! I can't believe I used to do that! DH drives 19 miles to the distribution center every day, so my commute would still be shorter than his! But going straight up Hillcrest or Coit would take close to 30 minutes, so going back and forth would really have to be kept to a minimum!

I think it is about 5 miles from here to work now. When we lived in Carrollton it was about 10 miles to my old nanny job, but there were like 24 stop lights so it took a good half hour even if there wasn't much traffic. I can't remember how far it is from here to the loft where my bosses lived before they bought their house. Not too far. I would have to get used to driving up there every day, but it might not be too bad.

At least you might be going against most of the traffic a good portion of the time! :thumbsup2

Elizabeth - I am so glad that you have a prospective job interview! It sounds like something you would enjoy, once you got all the details hammered out! Good luck with all of it!

I'm so tired tonight. I got 20 shirts washed, ironed, transfers put on and packed away for the trip! I'm almost halfway there! Of course, I'm out of paper, now, and have to wait for my next order to arrive.

So, I'm heading off to bed to read a couple of chapters, and then get some sleep. I won't be around much the next few days as our Spring Break is just starting. Yikes!

Sleep well, Glynis, and good luck with Spring Break (and the additional shirts)!

Now I remember why I didn't want to waitress...I got my butt kicked tonight. Actually all 4 waitresses did. We did 160 meals tonight with only 4 waitstaff. We usually have 6 on Tuesday night. I did 38 meals myself, which is my new personal best, but I can say that no one got great service. How could they when we were spread so thin? I must admit the money wasn't bad, but if I could have given better service the money would have been even better  Of course I'm still fighting this chest cold and barely have a voice. I just hope that I can sleep tonight because I really want to sleep

Wow, Deb! What an amazing increase in meals! Was it just a weird scenario, or was there a reason so many more people were eating out? Regardless, glad you made it through, and I hope tomorrow finds you rested and feeling better!

We went Prom dress shopping. :scared1: The biggest problem???? So late being asked there was hardly anything that was big enough to hold Cassidy and her girls...plus the dresses were picked over.

We did find a dress...so cute....can't find a pic online I will keep looking. not too fancy because well it's not like it's her senior prom. :rolleyes1 It's pink with a black overlay.

I'm glad she found something - it sounds pretty! :goodvibes

Goodnight all! I've been looking at rental car scenarios all night for our trip (I've had a reservation for a while, but trying to see if I can beat it with last minute deals), and I think my eyes are glazing over at this point.

Good morning to all our early-risers! :flower3:

Good mornig, DDA.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words and thoughts and prayers. All of Kristin's immediate friends have been accounted for at Tech. My best friend from college (the one whose Mom died a few weeks ago) has a nephew in the cadet corps there and I have not heard anything back from her. And I have a favorite former student who just visited me over spring break who is an engineering student. Norris Hall is an engineering building. I have not had a response from Chris to the email I sent on Monday evening. I know there could be many reasons why but it still is causing me concern and worry as it will be a few days before the list of victims is put out.

I think I have read everyone's posts and am all caught up. I know I will forget someone, and for that I am sorry.

Tia and Deb - I hope you both feel better and have don't have to work so hard!

Theresa - lots of PD headed your way. And Cassidy must be so excited.

Robyn - loved the BDay pictures. The girls are getting so big!

Becky and Jen - the school year is almost over, the school year is almost over, the school year is almost over...

Lindsay - good luck on the final tweaking for your trip this week!

Chanon - I loved all your pictures and I liked the white cake best.

Terry - imagine if US Air had been allowed to purchase Delta! What a nightmare you had. So sorry.

Elizabeth - good news on the prospective new nanny position. I hope it works out for you and you can feel more stability soon.

Glynis - I can't belive you got those shirts done! I made your pot roats for Bob last weekend and he loved it. I also sneaked a taste and loved it too. Thanks!

Tammi and Stephanie - it is almost time for Disney World!

Tammi - I hope your meeting went well on Monday and I am also hoping to get those two hoppers and some $ to you later this week or Saturday. Thanks for doing those two things for me while you are on vacation.

Ick on the raking and fighting! I hope you don't have to do either again for a long time.

I wish! This was round 5 with the sweet gum balls and there are still plenty left on the tree. If I rake them every 1-2 weeks, I get the yard cleared and usually fill one yard waste can. The first go round of the season, I filled the can and 2 yard bags. :scared: As long as the big, windy storms stay away I can get by with not doing it very often, but invariably a big storm comes through each week or so that blows a whole bunch of them down again. :sad2: The only good part of the hard freezes we had lately is that they are saying that the sweet gum balls will be significantly less next year because of it.

Hello DDA.
I finally got home tonight....

Welcome home! I am glad that you finally made it. I'm so sorry that the return was no an uneventful one. :( Good luck with your letters. Unfortunately, I have learned that with Delta unless I have a very basic question or just want to make a normal reservation it is just faster and less painful to ask for a supervisor from the beginning.

Hello DDA.
I finally got home tonight. I was supposed to come home yesterday. I got to the airport yesterday and was checking in and the guy said there were "ground issues" in Charlotte, NC. I just looked at him with a question on my face and he admitted that they screwed up. He said he could put me on a flight early this morning but I would have a stop in Charlotte, Phila and then on to Harrisburg. Well, that did not make me happy. He finally did some checking and put me on a non-stop to Harrisburg but it would not leave until this evening at 5:54pm. He then told me I could go over to Delta to get my seat. Well, I tried but they told me that I could do that on line.

Getting a sense of a problem??????

I spent over an hour trying to get a seat, talking to customer service and even the tech support. At one point, I told the guy I wanted to speak to his supervisor. Well that took over 25 minutes and when he came back on to tell me he was still trying to reach a supervisor, I went sorta ballistic. I hate that they have all of the calls go overseas and you cannot understand anything they say. All I wanted to do was get a seat and verify that I was not stand-by.
This afternoon I had my sister take me to the Marta and made her go home. I told her I would just keep in touch.
I went to the Check-in desk at Delta and asked for a seat verification. The lady told me that I had to go to the check in desk to get a seat. I looked at her point blank and asked if I had a seat and she said yes and then I asked her if I was stand-by and she said no. I asked her again and she said no.
I finally got to the gate and checked in and the guy told me I was on stand-by. I should have made the US Air guy get me a seat but I was just so happy to get a non-stop flight, I did not think about a seat.
They said they would ask for voulnteers to give up their seats. I had to wait to see what would happen. I called Stephanie and my sister and by then I was really stressing out and crying. It looked like I might have to wait until tomorrow to get out. I kept thinking I was gonna go crazy and not get any of my work done this week. Usually by Wednesday, I am checking the print-out to verify the attendance and am on time with my work. I could just imagine not finishing and going crazy.
Well, needless to say, I got on the plane. :goodvibes
I am so happy to be home.
I really had a good time but all of this trouble has been such a drain.
I will be writing a long letter to US Air and even Delta.
I did learn a few things about flying.
What an ordeal! I'm glad you are home, safe and sound.

Sounds pretty. When is the prom?

There has been a list released, however I don't think that it is complete. I saw it yesterday. I think it has maybe 20 some names. I'm praying that Chris' name won't be on it.

My meeting was good, thanks for the recommendation.

I'll be up and down Ferry Rd. on Saturday so it won't be a problem for me to swing by and pick up the tickets. We have a soccer game Sat. morning over at Dixon. I'll get with you toward the end of the week.

Hi all! I feel like I've been playing catch up that last couple of days and may continue for a few more. I was feeling better today until I decided that I felt good enough to rake sweet gum balls in the yard. That and an oh-so-fun argument with my DH and I was worn out again. Some medicines have me feeling a little better again so hopefully that will continue.

Of course, I have 3 kids 24 hours a day for the next 5-6 days so that could be tiring in itself. Chris' mom is giving Kristi and Chris her car so they are flying out to CA in the morning to introduce them all to Chase and then drive the car back. They should be back Sunday evening, but it could be Monday depending on how good of a passenger Chase is.

Tonight was fun though because I got to learn up to use a handheld GPS to go geocaching. I've always wanted to do it and now am going along as a chaperone on Rachel's geocaching field trip on Thursday. Tonight the parents going met with the gym teachers to learn how to use the systems and the basics of the field trip. It should be a lot of fun. Of course, I'll probably leave wanting a GPS system for my birthday, but at least that would be something fun that I could ask for.

I hope that you get rested up!

I have always wanted to go geocaching. My MIL bought herself a GPS for Christmas, and she has taken my nephew out a lot. I hope that we can go with them some this summer. I would ask for a GPS for my birthday, but I just asked for (and received early) a new camera. My birthday is more than taken care of.

Morning DDA!

Terry - Send it certified! That way you know someone got your complaint. There's a great article on MSNBC - and under US Airways customer relations department.

Thanks for all the good wishes!:goodvibes Wouldn't it be funny to find the perfect job without ANY of these agencies helping? DH is really snarling about the distance, but we need to remember that I have gotten spoiled by living so close to my job for the past several years. The Black Pearl isn't a lease vehicle, so we don't have to watch every mile. Yes, gas is $3 a gallon:scared: but I quoted the mom a higher salary than my current one so I could absorb that increased cost. This could be good. I just have to be careful not to force a sqare peg in a round hole because I am nervous that I won't be able to find anything better if I wait.

Hi all!!

Elizabeth-congrats on the great report card and prospective roly poly!!

Tia- I hear ya on the raking and fighting.Hope the rest of the week smooths out.

We went Prom dress shopping. :scared1: The biggest problem???? So late being asked there was hardly anything that was big enough to hold Cassidy and her girls...plus the dresses were picked over.

Yay to getting a dress! I know what you mean about fitting the girls. The friend that Laura was sharing the dressing room with when we bought the 8th grade social dresses is much more endowed than Laura is at this point. The woman helping them find dresses kept referring to Laura as "the little one". I thought that both girls were going to slap her. The more endowed girls definitely had to be choosier about styles. (I was/am one of them myself, so I could relate.) Laura wishes that she could "fill out" just a little more, though.

Have you ever meet and EVIL person? Someone you just knew deep down that something was not right.
