Just got back from the dr. and the drug store. Nicholas has strep. I sure hope it stays away from the rest of us. So he will be home tomorrow too.

Boy are my kids clueless! While at the doc I felt I had to say something to make sure all bases were covered. I told the doc that I was concerned about his congestion because we are flying soon. If they asked I was prepared to say that I was refering to when we go for Alyssa's bday. Then when we were at the drug store I was asking the pharmacist for a recommendation of a good decongestant because we were flying soon. Again, no response out of either kid. I'm glad that the secret wasn't given up, but know I'm wondering if they have all their marbles???

Poor Nicholas!! I hope the anitbiotics work fast!!

and I bet your kids are like mine...I am certain that whenever I talk I sound like one of the grownups in Charlie Brown...whaa whaa whaa. Either that or they don't have all their marbles:confused3

For those of you who have rented strollers in the park, what can you tell me. My plan was to only take a single this time around, and make Nicholas walk. But with him being sick, I'm sure his energy level will be lower. So I'm thinking about renting the doubles from the parks. I vaguely remember something about a length of stay rental? Does anyone know anything about this. Usually we rent from A Baby's Best Friend, but with me being by myself I don't feel like schlepping it and 2 kids on and off the buses.

Thank you for the recipe! I only have brown sugar & maple flavored oatmeal on hand(individual packets)so I will have to change this a little. Sounds good though & Chanon your version sounds good as well!

Maybe a recipe would help!

APPLE CRISP

6 medium apples
3-4 tbsp. sugar
cinnamon

Topping:

1/4 c. butter
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. oatmeal

Peel, core and quarter apples. Place apples in a greased casserole dish. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
Mix all topping ingredients together until crumbly. If mixture is too dry , add more butter. Sprinkle over apples, until all apples are covered. Make more topping if needed.

Bake at 375°F for 40 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!

What a lovely picture!

I know I said I did not know where my wedding pics were at but I just saw this one and thought I would share.

This is the picture that ran for the newspaper announcement and it is in black and white. I did not have a typical wedding gown. My gown was pink and white and I wore a hat and not a veil. We got married in his aunts beautiful flower garden. Boy does this bring back memories.

Tammi sorry to hear Nicholas has strep. Sending lots of :wizard: your way that he feels better soon & that you & Alyssa do not get it :wizard:

This statement made me :rotfl:

Glad they did not question or figure out the surprise though!

This is from allearsnet.com Tammi:

Strollers may be rented in each of the theme parks or at Downtown Disney.

Disney has a Length of Stay rental ticket for strollers and wheelchairs. With the Length of Stay rental, you make a one-time payment for as many days of rental that you will need. Upon visiting a theme park, show your receipt at the stroller/wheelchair rental location and you will be directed through the queue with little or no wait. There is a slight discount when purchasing the Length of Stay rental ticket. The Length of Stay option is NOT offered during peak attendance times, however, such as Christmas.

Stroller rentals cost (prices current as of January 2006):

At the theme parks:

Single or infant (newborn to 9 months) strollers: $10/day (no deposit) OR $8/day Length of Stay rental

Double strollers: $18/day (no deposit) OR $16/day Length of Stay rental

At Downtown Disney:

Single or infant (newborn to 9 months) strollers: $10/day (with $250 credit card imprint required for deposit); $8/day Length of Stay rental (limited quantity) Note: Double strollers are not available.

Reservations are not accepted. If you want to visit more than one park in a given day, retain your stroller receipt and present it at the second park to obtain another stroller at no additional cost.

Thanks Janet. I think that's what I'll do, just rent one at the parks. This will be a new experience for me.

Tammi we rented a double for the last four days in February. After dragging mine on and off the bus for a few days I said to heck with that. It was so convenient to rent one at the park. We had a 5 and 6-year-old with us and my 5-year-old is not a small boy. It will make your life soo much easier to rent a double. We just had to show our reciept at the parks to get one each morning.

Also on our last day when we were exiting the park at about noon I gave my stroller and reciept to a young couple with two kids that were just entering the park as it was payed for till the end of the day. They seemed so grateful.

I have to tell you all about something that has me very excited! When we planned to go to Boston this past summer for a mini family reunion with my brother and sister and their families I reminded them that they had told me at my mother's funeral that if we all made it in June they would allow me to plan a vacation for all of us at WDW.

Well, my sister emailed me this morning asking for money amounts and a little more info. I copied my brother on my response and just got an email from him asking me to firm up a few things for him. It looks like it might actually happen! I would LOVE to be able to show them why we have been going there more than once a year for the past 12 years!
Lots of pixie dust that thing gets completely off the ground and can fly.

Gorgeous

I'll keep my fingers crossed for that.

Oh, and another thing, no matter how much you show them movies, books, planning videos with the characters and such, when they come face to face with them and see how BIG they are (to a 3 yr old they are HUGE), they will still get freaked out!

This is true!

Glynis We received flat stanley the other day. I have scanned him into the computer, dress him and then cloned him as each of the boys wanted to take him to school. Nick and Hunter both armed with cameras took him to school this morning and Colby will take him when he goes later this morning. I'm sure we'll have lots of pictures to share :rotfl:

Thanks so much!!! This will be so cool! I think Vermont is the farthest anyone in the class sent him. Jacob will be so proud!

Tammi I'm sure that Nicholas will be better in a couple of days. Antibiotics work well.

Deb

I have some yellow Granny Smith apples that I need to use up before they go to waste. Anyone have a easy recipe for something to do with these, besides applesauce? I am making porkchops for supper, was trying to think of some way to cook these with the apples :confused3

YES!!!! I have the BEST recipe. Here it is:

Smothered Pork Chops

1 pkg chicken stuffing mix
4 boneless pork loin chops
1 Tbs. butter
4 medium apples, peeled and cut into wedges
1/2 C. packed brown sugar
1/4 C. water
1/4 tsp. salt
14 tsp. ground cinnamon

Prepare stuffing mix according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook pork chops in butter over medium heat for 2-3 minutes on each side or until lightly browned. Stir in the apples, brown sugar, water and salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 8-10 minutes or until apples are tender. Top with stuffing; sprinkle with cinnamon. Cook, uncovered, for 10-12 minutes or until a meat thermometer reads 160 degrees.

This was an AMAZING dish!

Hi everyone,

Just got home from the school book fair for Daniel..$38 later! Sophie has hers this afternoon & Katie's is at the end of the week. I'm broke!

Our book fair is February 5-9. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time! I know all my "surplus" money (is there such a thing) will be going to that! But, it's all for a good cause, right? At least that's what I tell Alan.

Oh this sounds really good, thanks Glynis! Now I need to see if I have any stuffing :)

Tammi, start right now with washing EVERYTHING he has touched, or worn in a bleach solution. Use Lysol to spray down the furniture. Even the phone. Strep just lives on and doesn't die on it's own. It must be killed, or it will re-infect. Wash clothes, sheets, towels, etc., in bleach. Get rid of his toothbrush and buy several new ones. Let him use a new one until he's been on antibiotics for a couple of days, then throw that one away and give him a new one. Keep Alyssa as "away" from him as possible!

Elin, :wizard: :wizard: that the trip works out.

Delinda :goodvibes

Tammi, not to worry mom, I am sure they have all their marbles. :teeth:
pixiedust: that Nicholas feels better soon.
