we have not picked the dates for our trip yet - it will all depend on the availability of flights using Airtran and our free flights!!!!

anyone who wants to come down for a day is more than welcome!!!

Oh, I will join you in this. DD#1 just turned 4 in Jan and we still don't poop on our own. I think it's from few different things. I was activated just after her first birthday and she was put in a different daycare after being home for over a month. I had just quit my job to be a SAHM. Then DH left for Iraq and was gone for 4 months, then DD#2 came in Sept and that disrupted things for Ellie (DD#1). She liked school (daycare at a christain school) so much that we left her in for 3 days a week, then down to 2 days per week then by the end of Nov we had taken her out. She is now FOUR and got the #1 thing down great and never had a problem at night once she started "big girl panties" at night. On the other hand.... poop is a different deal. She holds it, plays "Hide and Seek", blah blah blah. The Doc gave us Milk of Mag and we use it every so often, we also had to give her enamas before because she held it for a full 7 days. We work onit all the time. I make her go every other day at least and I sit with her andtalk her through it (NOT FUN). My mother tells me all the time that she has never seen a child in high school poop and have diapers, and that Ellie will get it one day. DEAR GOD bring me that day.
I will send Pixie Dust and prayers your way. I hope your situations are shorter than mine. Best of luck.

My DS5 has this problem. We actual had to see a specialist about this. Some days I think I will never get him trained. He stays clean at school all day. Anyway his doctor told me this started when he was a baby because of the pain from being constipated caused him to start holding it in so it would to hurt him. From holding it in so much he has enlarged his colon/rectum and really does not know when he has to go poop. He told me it could take up to a year for everything to go back to normal size and for him to be able to feel the urge to actually go poop on his own. He is on medicine daily to loosen his bowels so that he cannot hold it in.

This has been very frustrating for all concerned. Everytime we start making a breakthrough his birth mom gets him for a 1-2 day visit and we have had to start all over. So I told her after this last doctor visit that he could not go spend the night with anyone until he is fully and totally potty trained and that the doctor told me it could take up to a year. She acted like it was no big deal for her. :confused3 :confused3

So I sure have no words of wisdom on this front.

I forgot my BIG news!!!

DH agreed to our Disneyland trip today!!!

I am so HAPPY!! We will fly to Denver and spend a few days with my sister's family - then we are drving to Vegas and spending the night there and then on to LA - my aunt and his best friend lives there so it will be a lot of fun - then we will fly home from LA -

just waiting for my airtran Wendys miles to post to book!!!

Best part is - we do not need a hotel anywhere - so our costs should be minimal!!!!

This will tell you how long it's been since I flew out of DIA...but I had no idea AirTran flew out of DIA or I would have been saving those suckers so we could fly down to WDW. :confused3

If you have a spare moment here in CO I would love to meet the queen in person. princess:

One thing that I did learn from my son being constipated (unrelated to training issues) was that if you are giving him a multi-vitamin...stop. Extra iron can make them even more constipated.

My potty training advice is to take DS shopping and let him pick out fun big boy pants with Scooby Doo or whatever his favorite character is. Then pick a span of 3 days when you have no intentions of leaving your house. Throw out the pull-ups. They are still diapers. Put his new undies on him (no pants) and set the timer for 10 minutes. Put him on the potty and see if he goes. Let him sit there awhile. If he doesn't go, reset timer. Repeat this until he produces, and gradually increase the time. If you have hardword or vinyl floors, try to keep him in those areas (less mess). And the most important part of all, remember that there WILL BE messes. Keep positive and no matter how much you want to, don't give up and go back to diapers/pull ups. This sends mixed signals. Perservere!! Good luck!

I agree, I never used pullups for my kids, they both went form diapers to underwear and I never had a bedweing problem with either, the occasional accident but never more than that. Put a plastic liner under the sheet to protect the mattress.

You're a globetrotter though!!!!

Fair enough :thumbsup2 Someday soon though.... before I have to start trotting again to look for a house. Or better yet.... maybe we'll match in Cincinnati, and then we'll have a better chance ;)

I had a chiropractor adjust my kids when they were really young which is supposed to help with constipation, I also learned another method from a friend (for when they were little), it was rather gross but worked and I think the kids not having pain from constipation helped make it easier to learn to #2 in the toilet.

Bribery and corruption will also work!! :rotfl2:

We also did bicycle movements with Andy....but moved his legs out to his chest down in that "bicycle" movement. That seemed to help "move" things along.

You are going to have so much fun!

UM - yea!!!!!! I have to go buy the birnbaum book or should i wait for passporters version??!!?!!?!?

It is a whole new bunch of stuff to learn - I am so EXCITED!!

Early bed for this girl. I thought I felt a little crappy yesterday and earlier today, but this evening I just got hit by a ton of bricks!

My sister had this bug (hopefully this one) earlier this week.... I say hopefully because it was HORRIBLE but it was just a day. Right now I'm so achy I can't stand, sit, or lie down comfortably (doesn't leave much option does it), and my throat is killing me. Denise, did you give me strep?

As soon as Kyle walked in the door I started bawling because I felt so bad! We are supposed to have our Valentine's Day tomorrow because I have an evening class (and a test) on Tuesday. I'm always more emotional when I'm sick, so I was freaking out about not feeling better for our date!

I've taken some Nyquil so that I can hopefully just sleep it off. If it doesn't work, I'll be back for some chatting. Otherwise, have a good night and I'll catch up tomorrow!

Hello everyone! We just got back from our WONDERFUL trip! Thanks to everyone here for making it so magical :grouphug: . The tshirts were a hit! Everyone commented on them and wanted to know where we got them! Leighanna had a great time with some very special moments  . This will be a birthday that she will never forget!
I will post more later!
